Dominic double-checked his phone to confirm he was at the correct address. Standing in front of the private law firm, he read the name as if to reassure himself. Today had been ruined before it even began. Instead of celebrating his anniversary and birthday in grand style, he found himself at the threshold of a legal office.
"Good morning, you must be Dominic, right?" the lady at the reception said with contempt evident in her voice. "Yes, I am. I'm here to..."
"That way, please. You kept everyone waiting, thrash! No wonder she wants a divorce. Such a loser," the receptionist yelled harshly. Dominic remained unfazed; he had encountered such disdain before. The city was toxic, and everyone seemed to take out their frustrations on those they perceived are beneath them.
Dominic attempted to compose himself under the weight of unwelcoming gazes from those around him, their eyes judging him as if he had committed a crime.
He walked into the cold atmosphere created by Diana and her lawyer. Despite the tension, Diana's beauty still caught his eye, warming his heart momentarily as he managed a faint smile. "Sit and sign; I don't have all day, moron," Diana commanded, instantly wiping the smile from Dominic's face.
"Mr. Dominic, this seems like a unanimous agreement. Let's not waste time; please sign here and here. Consider yourself fortunate that alimony wasn't on the table," the lawyer scorned rudely, extending the papers toward Dominic.
Diana responded with a sly grin, "Oh, how generous of me not to demand alimony. I thought I'd spare you the burden of supporting my lavish lifestyle, Mr. Big Shot with his five part-time jobs. Go ahead, keep your riches; they're evidently irreplaceable."
Dominic sat there, briefly glancing through the paper, hoping for a miracle to change her heart. He penned his signature, and with that, they were officially divorced. Dominic took another look at the papers before handing them over to the lawyer.
Diana stood up, a satisfied smile plastered on her face. “I hope to see you again. We... can still be friends. You can come around the restaurant. Bills on me,” Dominic said genuinely, revealing he still harbored feelings for her.
“Friends, you say? I'd have nightmares just looking at your face, Dominic,” Diana barked mockingly, leaving Dominic's face pale instantly. All the love he had for Diana vanished in an instant. She irritated him now.
“My baby is here,” Diana added with a childish demeanor looking through the window at the Porsche that pulled over.
Dominic followed her gaze and saw the Porsche from last night. It must be the car that picked his wife up. He kept his gaze on the car until it opened, and he instantly recognized who stepped out.
“Frank!” Dominic growled, shaking his head in disappointment before leaving the office. Dominic stood aside, watching his wife hug and kiss Frank. He felt jealous—Frank, of all people. That obsessed man who looked older than his age. Dominic faced Frank with disdain. “Well, if it isn't Frank Catt, the knight in shining armor.”
Frank replied with a smirk. "Dominic, my man. Diana tells me you've got no sense of humor.”
“Diana, no need to lie to yourself about true love just because you found a sugar daddy,” Dominic bluntly said, revealing his disappointment.
Diana moved close to Dominic, she seized him with her eyes, it was obvious his words stung her. Her eyes were filled with anger "Oh, Dominic, how naive of you. True love? I had that with you, and what did it get me? Endless struggles and scraping by. I needed more, Dominic, more than your part-time jobs and your worn-out dreams.”
She paused, letting her words linger in the air, and continued, "You were never enough, Dominic. I needed more than your empty promises and financial struggles. Frank provides, and I'm not going to apologize for wanting a comfortable life. Maybe you should learn something from him, rather than wallowing in self-pity."
Frank stepped forward with a calm demeanor, looking directly at Dominic. "Dominic, my man, no need to make this a dramatic spectacle. Diana and I are heading out. She's made her choice," Frank said, his voice steady.
Diana turned to Frank and said, "Baby, let's go. I can't stand to be in the Franke space with this... nauseating."
Dominic stood there in silence, observing as Frank and Diana walked away hand in hand. The day had been filled with enough drama, and he had no interest in adding more. If she didn't love him, she didn't deserve him.
As Frank held Diana's waist and they strolled away, suddenly a car abruptly parked in front of Frank's, nearly hitting both of them. Frank's expression shifted from rage to shock as he prepared to unleash his anger, but his reaction was halted by the stunning woman who emerged from the car.
Eleanor stepped out with grace, relishing the attention she garnered. She was dressed in a perfectly fitting black pantsuit, and her hair was neatly styled to fall just below her shoulders. Striding elegantly towards where Dominic stood, her boots enhancing her height, she locked eyes with him. Taking Dominic's hand, she turned to face Frank and Diana, who both stared with surprise.
"So, Frank," she said with a faux-curious tone, "are you Diana's father?" she asked with a tone dipped in satire, her words dripping with subtle mockery. She gestured gracefully toward Diana, who stood beside Frank, still recovering from the shock.
Eleanor's face was all smiles; she was enjoying what she was doing. How could a mere civilian cheat on her general? She took it personally and upon herself to humiliate and cause misunderstanding to Diana and the overweight man standing beside her.Dominic wasn't interested; he just wanted to leave and contemplate his life although there was a sly grin that appeared at his chin as Eleanor humilates Diana. But it left as quickly as it came. He looked at Eleanor, and for a moment, he didn't recognize her. He had never seen this side of her. So, he gently pushed her hand away, eager to get out of there.Eleanor still held his hand, unwilling to let them further humiliate her general. She was prepared for them.“Stand down, Captain,” Dominic ordered coldly. Eleanor's face immediately changed. She released his hand but stood beside him she didn’t expect him to reprimand her.Frank watched closely. "Who could this beauty be, and why was she so clingy around this loser?" He immediately left
"Come on, princess, the clock is ticking. Chop-chop!" Linda mocked, exchanging glances with her accomplice Zara. The two always found it amusing to taunt Dominic. He consistently overlooked their attempts and focused on his work, and today wasn't an exception. However, he had made up his mind."I wonder how he manages to work so hard. Rumor has it, he's his wife's puppet." Zara said silently but loud enough for Dominic to hear. This wasn't his problem; he had learned how to ignore them. They were still unaware that he had divorced his wife, so they still mock him for always pleasing his wife.Although their words still hurt, he wasn't ready for it to deter him. He had made up his mind to move on, and he continued to pack his belongings. He was ready to call it quits. He had worked hard to serve this company and also put in extra effort to please his wife. That was all the aim of coming to Kester city and since his wife left him, he wasn’t ready to keep up with it.“What's with the gl
Dominic went straight to his locker, ignoring them as if he wasn't the one they were referring to. Clark was not ready to let it slide; he attacked Dominic, pushing him on his shoulder. “You're despicable and a coward. I hate you.” Dominic ignored him like he wasn't there.“What do you expect from the little princess? Once a lady’s puppet, always a laddy’s puppet,” Linda added. Dominic saw it as a waste of time to reply to them; he was going anyway, so they could keep ranting all they could.Suddenly, a group of men stormed the office, looking dangerous and terrifying everyone present. There were five in number, and their presence sent terror through the office. “Where the hell is Selena? Don't make this harder than it needs to be.” the leader of the gang shouted intimidatingly. When he received no reply, he walked up to Zara, who was visibly shaking and he seemed to relish in the fear he caused. “Well, well, what do we have here? A little sweetheart. Maybe she'll keep us entertained
Dominic stood there motionless, unsure of the best way to react to what Selena had typed down on the agreement paper.Although he knew that she doubted he had $8 million dollars to give her, she had already won his admiration, making any wrongdoing on her part insignificant.“Okay... Ehhrrmmm… I mean your account number,” he said while sighing, attempting to control his emotion.“It's on the paper there, check it out,” Dominic said simply. She had given up on making him see reasons why he shouldn't involve himself. So, she just wanted to see where this whole drama would end. She was patient with Dominic; he has been one of her hardworking employees. Her phone beeped; she was expecting a reply from Clara, her best friend. She had asked her for assistance to pay off her loan. Yes, Clara had replied, but another message from her bank distracted her.“Ohh no,” she said surprisingly as her gaze met the sheepish smile of Dominic."How did you..." she tried to ask, but he cut her off. "Pay i
“How cheap! I can't believe my elder sister sold herself for $10 million,” Camara mocked, and Selena's countenance changed. She was angry but chose to hide her anger so she wouldn't ruin her grandma's birthday celebration. Dominic took a deep breath, his tone firm but measured. "Camara, that comment is disrespectful and uncalled for. Selena and I are married because we love each other, and the decision was based on more than just financial considerations. Let's focus on the joyous occasion and show some respect.”Camara faced Dominic, ready to fight back. She was angry that he didn't have the right to reprimand her like a child, but Silas quickly stopped his wife from reacting to Dominic. He was afraid and didn't want his wife to mess with Dominic, realizing he could be the son of a very rich and influential person in the state.Clearly envious, Silas swiftly searched for Dominic's name to check if he was a celebrity he wasn't aware of. Finding no matches, he became suspicious of Dom
Silas leaned back in his chair with a self-satisfied grin. "I did a little digging, Selena. Your charming husband here isn't the hidden wealthy man you think he is. He's just a small employee juggling several part-time jobs for the past few years. The money he used to 'save the company' is likely every penny he scraped together from those menial jobs.”Dominic sat unfazed by Silas’ revelation and responded calmly, "Impressive detective work, Silas. Yes, I worked hard, took odd jobs, and saved every penny to help Selena's company. It's not about being a hidden rich man; it's about dedication and genuine care for someone I love.”“Oohh shut it, you loser. You don't have a place here,” Silas stressed with disdain. The room fell silent as everyone gasped at the sudden revelation. The Alexiou's family doesn't tolerate poor people, so they took it upon themselves to ridicule Dominic and make him see he doesn't have a place with them.Camara got the perfect opportunity to diminish Dominic fu
" Why don't we go to my house?" Selena suggested as they got to the carpark, she still had her rickety car they could take home. Dominic shrugged before nodding slowly." Okay." It wasn't as though he had a place to stay since he and Diana were no longer together. Together, they entered her car and she smiled at him as she threw the car keys at him. He caught them with ease. "Will you drive?" She asked him before furrowing her eyebrows as she stared at him, "I'm sorry, can you drive?" Dominic nodded, he didn't blame her for thinking that he wasn't capable of handling a car. " I can manage." He said and ignited the car. Selena smiled, " I trust you, but I don't want to die." She said. He grinned and Selena was taken aback by his handsomeness. Diana missed a gem and she was happy that she was the one who got it. " I can feel your eyes on me." He said and Dominic smiled as he navigated the car home. Then he suddenly brought the car to a halt causing Selena to be startled." Why did
"Let's just say that she's a very dear friend of mine." Dominic lied, he wasn't willing to reveal everything to her and thus wasn't because he didn't trust her but for the fact that he wanted to build the relationship on a normal level, allow it to gain momentum before finally coming out to her. Selena cocked her head, a pang of jealousy rushed through her. She didn't expect him to have a friend, a dear one at that. " Should I be worried?" She inquired and Dominic's brows furrowed in momentary confusion before his eyes widened at the realization."Oh? About Eleanor?" He asked in surprise and Selena nodded. He chuckled briefly, " No, you don't." He replied." Why do I have a feeling that you are lying to me?" Selena asked and he stared at her as though she was saying gibberish. Dominic sighed, he didn't want her to begin to ask more questions. "Firstly, I don't think she's your friend, you wouldn't speak to her in that manner." She said.Dominic went silent, she was astute of her goo
"Of course, you heard what I said," There was venom and so much hatred in Diana's voice that the crowd shivered with it. Everyone fell silent, the people laid on the floor, trembling with their arms over their head as they prayed for safety. Diana came with a small army of men dressed in black suits and they barricaded the church. Apart from the conspicuous plastic surgery done on the left side of her face, she seemed to have grown bigger. Dominic didn't know how to feel, Selena might have imagined it as the last day of her life, she clenched tighter to him, wishing it would pass away like a dream. "Silly you are Marcus," she said with a snicker, "thinking you can defeat me this easily. I have spent a lifetime planning, waiting for this very moment" Her voice cut through the walls of the silent church, Dominic was still thinking of a response to give when she suddenly twisted Marcus arm and swept him off his feet. "Oh no!," Dominic gasped with horror as his fourth in command hit th
It was finally the day of the wedding. Petals adorned the floor, surrounding the chair and giving off this crazy rich Asians vibe. It was almost feathery that one would think that they were going to lay on them. The church had been decorated by the best event planner in town. No one could even dispute the fact that their wedding was the most elegant in town and how much they had spent. It was the talk of the whole town. People had come from far and near to witness the joining. It was almost as if they had been told that if they missed this wedding, they had missed a lot of things By six a.m. the church was already packed. People who couldn't attend the church service were already seated in the hall waiting for the bride and groom to finally arrive. The priest cleared his throat after everyone had found a place to sit. The pressmen and the camera men were already at alert to cover the biggest wedding in the last decade. A wedding was held last week but it wasn't as magnificent as thi
Selena opened her eyes first and saw Dominic standing at the window looking outside the hospital. The sunrays hit her eyes and she squinted, she didn't know the time that she made the sound. It was very soft but he heard it anyway. She was tired and stressed but couldn't find an expression for her emotions. As if touched by a life wire, Dominic quickly turned and saw that she was awake. A small smile appeared on his face as he stared at her, she was beautiful even in her sick state. He marched to the edge of the bed and gathered her softly into his arms, her body was exactly the way he remembered. Soft, just that she had become very lean."Stop staring, I'm no longer fine again. I can't face you." She croaked and began to cough violently. Dominic quickly pressed the bell that was close to him and at the end of the day, he saw that she was feeling very tired. He planted kisses on her face. As a General, there were a few things that made him emotional but she was one of them. He didn
Make sure you shoot him now, you must not allow him to escape." He told the people who were standing and looking. Pauo smiled thinking that Todd was referring to Dominic. "Yes, blow his brains out."The soldiers turned in his direction and cocked their guns, making him surprised. His eyes darted towards Todd. "what is happening?" He inquired but was met with silence. He flared up. " Put those guns down!""You don't control us anymore!" One of the soldiers yelled and he was shocked to the bone. "What the hell is this?!" "Exactly what we should have done the very first time! We shout "have killed you the moment you took Selena." Another soldier responded.Paul was stunned and moved back a little. Everything was crumbling before his very eyes. "You can't be serious right now! Are you kidding me right now? You would save this man over me? The man who taught you everything you know? The man who had made you into who you're? That's ridiculous!" The soldiers drew out another gun and flas
Selena woke up in a strange bed and saw a man tapping a syringe slowly before clipping the needle to it. Her eyes widened in horror but she wasn't able to move. It seemed like her legs were stuck and all that she could do was to just protest in her head."Where am I God?" She wondered internally. Her tongue was almost clipped to the roof and all she could pray for was to be free. She didn't know what to do. She was feeling tied down and helpless. "Don't move darling, you're about to join the people above, greet your beloved father." The man in scrubs said and she became afraid. The heart monitor beeped loudly and the doctor stared at it before glancing at her in horror."You are not supposed to be alive darling because you'll only endanger yourself. Why don't you use the same energy to make sure that you sing well when you get to heaven or hell? I can't wait to see you dancing with the people on high. I hear it's fun though, what do you think?" She was scared. She was frozen at the
Dominic was trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea and he hoped that he didn't hit his head. He smiled and sought a solution. It was as if this was a distraction and he was ready to make sure that he wasn't being played. "Are you sure that you're here for me?" He inquired. He didn't want a situation whereby he'd have to undergo a fight that would stop him from seeing through their escapades."I don't think that you're ready for what's about to hit you though. Now that you're trapped, what do you have to say?" Paul replied.Dominic considered his next movement, these men were heavily guarded, doing anything unseemly was surely going to backfire and with the way things were going, he was trying his very best to make sure that he didn't fall into their trap."Since you already have me in your custody, what else can I say other than surrender? What do you really want?" Paul wasn't satisfied with that reaction, he wanted to see Dominic get vexed and expend his energy on nothing
Dominic rose faster than lightning because he panicked, not knowing what to do when he saw the building on fire. There was no way that she could remain in that building, he was damn sure of that but that still didn't give him all the assurance that he needed because he was feeling very scared. This was very tricky and he only hoped that he hadn't made a mistake in his calculations. The other boss watched the General almost sink to his knees in despair because, for the very first time, he had been outsmarted, it wasn't a very palatable sight to behold but there was nothing that could be done about that. It was either that or he continued feeling invincible.Dominic gazed around in despair, his brain trying to process all that happened but nothing was even coming up, making him look a fool. Who had taken Selena's body?He heard a cough and he stiffened."Oh, how the mighty has fallen! I see that it's not an easy sight for you to stomach that your plans had become botched but I guess it
Upon touching down in Venice, he refused to be tired of the way people often loved to behave when they arrived at s strange place. It was almost as if everyone could spot that the person was new to town and that usually brought about not having access to the right information or being cheated. He knew that they were somewhere here but that didn't matter if he didn't find them. That was most important to him."Hi, what are you looking for?" A trader called after him and he looked up to see other traders staring at him and he switched to their language causing them to be astonished by the way that he was speaking as if he was a local "That way, I didn't know that you speak." The man replied with pure English but he still wanted to buy their trust because he knew that it wasn't going to turn out well if he just headed toward the city without having a form of belonging here. With the way things were going, he might need to stay for a while at least to get to know the inner workings of t
Marcel tried to peep through his brother's phone when he saw his countenance suddenly grow cold. He didn't need anyone to tell him that there was a problem. "They've been taken right? Or are they dead?" Marcel panicked, causing him to roll his eyes at the attitude. There were other ways to act but his brother was taking the cake. A full grown man who was acting as if he didn't know that they were involved in a combat and that it didn't ease up just like that. "You don't need to worry about anything because I'll make sure that you don't suffer from anything. Just do what I ask that you should. So, will you be able to handle this information or I need to find another partner." "I don't think I can bear to live apart from the woman that I love so much."Dominic rolled his eyes at the whimpering attitude that his brother was portraying, other people would even barf at the ridiculousness because it truly was and he was ashamed of it. He would rather that there was something else that he
