Chapter 5

Dominic went straight to his locker, ignoring them as if he wasn't the one they were referring to. Clark was not ready to let it slide; he attacked Dominic, pushing him on his shoulder. “You're despicable and a coward. I hate you.” Dominic ignored him like he wasn't there.

“What do you expect from the little princess? Once a lady’s puppet, always a laddy’s puppet,” Linda added. Dominic saw it as a waste of time to reply to them; he was going anyway, so they could keep ranting all they could.

Suddenly, a group of men stormed the office, looking dangerous and terrifying everyone present. There were five in number, and their presence sent terror through the office. “Where the hell is Selena? Don't make this harder than it needs to be.” the leader of the gang shouted intimidatingly.

When he received no reply, he walked up to Zara, who was visibly shaking and he seemed to relish in the fear he caused. “Well, well, what do we have here? A little sweetheart. Maybe she'll keep us entertained tonight.”

“We could take her in exchange for Selena, boss,” one of the men suggested.

“Please, I will take you to Selena, don't hurt me, please,” Zara said in fear.

The man bent over to her and whispered,

“I'm not going to hurt you, baby. I just want to pleasure you. You must be sweet.”

Everyone had their heads under their tables. They couldn't stand to face the gangsters. Clark had an ugly face too, but he wasn't courageous enough to stand up against them.

“Guys, no one leaves here until Selena appears. Block all major entrances,” the man ordered his men as they took positions.

Frank, arriving late today, was about to make his way into the office when he noticed strange movements. He quickly hid himself, observing from afar.

“What the hell is going on here?” Dominic asked on entering the main office. He charged forward towards where the gangsters were.

“Back off, you don't intend to play super hero, right?” The man asked nonchalantly without giving Dominic so much attention.

“You're violating the law by being here. Leave immediately.” Dominic gently told them which made the gangster boss turn towards him, giving him a curious look.

He laughed before sneering, "Who does this guy think he is?" Reaching out to Dominic, he chested him, holding his gaze.

“I said back off. You don't mess w…” The gangster leader growled, abruptly punching Dominic in the face.

“Ouchh!!” He winced in pain, shaking his fingers to alleviate the intense pain that shot through his hands.

Dominic didn't flinch; it seemed he didn't feel anything, leaving the man who punched him to look at him with shock and contempt.

Selena rushed into the office, on receiving information that gangsters were terrorizing her staff. This was her mess, and she didn't want to drag any of her employees into it.

As soon as she entered, the men moved towards her, attempting to surround her. Dominic acted swiftly, blocking their path with his body, standing in their way.

“Get out of the way, you asshole! We're here for her, and we won't leave until she pays all her debt,” one of the men said sternly to Dominic.

Selena shouted from behind Dominic, “I know Arthur is behind this. I shouldn't have done that project with him.”

“Whatever deal you have with him is none of my business. I'm a loan shark, and I'm here for remittance,” the gang leader replied with a stern face.

Dominic watched as Selena's cheeks turned red; she was stressed, and he felt touched. She had been kind to him, and he wanted to repay her kindness.

"Hey dude, I will pay every single penny to you, but you need to leave first," Dominic said. Selena turned to him.

"Have you lost it? This is my burden; allow me to shoulder it," Selena said to him.

"Your shoulders look pretty weak and tired; consider it a favor," Dominic said sharply before turning to the men. "Please get out now; I said I will pay you whatever a..."

"Shut it, Dominic!" Selena yelled. "This isn't a sort of joke. We are talking of eight million dollars here. Where do you think you can get it?"

"I know, Selena," Dominic held her hands as he continued, "Allow me to handle this. I got it”

"I know how nice you want to be, but this is b..."

"Shhhh," Dominic said, using his fingers on her lips to shush her up.

"Allow me to handle it..."

"What the heck! Are we acting movies here? Hey you, I have tolerated you enough. Get out now!" he said, pointing a gun at Dominic.

Dominic rolled his eyes as he drifted towards him swiftly, seizing his hand behind his back, making him scream in pain, and the gun in his hand fell.

Seeing what just happened, his subordinates quickly took their guns in an attempt to attack Dominic.

"One more step, and I will break his hand," Dominic growled with clenched teeth and bloodshot eyes. He saw the surprise on Selena's face from the corner of his eyes.

"You will do as I say from henceforth," Dominic threatened further. "Now, take your men and vacate this premises. As for your money, you will receive it in thirty minutes. Now, get the hell out of here!" Dominic yelled and freed the man from his clutches.

The man staggered, signaling his men as they evacuated the office. He went closer to one of his men and whispered, "That bastard must not leave. Get more men downstairs. We strike back in one hour's time.”

Selena watched as the men left the office. Her cheeks suddenly turned pink, pleased that Dominic stood up for her. She sighed deeply in relief but then faced Dominic. "You need to leave; this is dangerous. I will find a way out."

Dominic looked at her, unfazed. He admired her even more; she was considerate and protective, unlike Diana. He observed her through her uncertainty, yet she still wanted to protect him.

He was touched, and he smiled at her. "Eight million dollars is not a big deal. I could easily help you offset it."

"Are you for real now? Why are you so persistent?" Selena asked angrily.

"I've got you on this," Dominic protested once again, and Selena yelled at him, "Aren't you worried about your safety? These people are dangerous, and you don't mess with them.”

"Okay, fine. Since you insist on being the superhero." She walked to her table, printed a paper out, and handed it over to Dominic.

"What's this?" he asked, confused.

"Here's an agreement order. If you can pay off my debt, I, Selena Alexiou, will marry you and make you the president of Alexiou's Enterprise."

Dominic glared at the paper in shock. Selena wanted him to back out. She knew there was no way he was going to be able to pay eight million dollars.
