The stunned expression on Alex's face was a spectacle.

“Have I ever lied to you in the past? Why will you think I'm lying now?” Alex whispered, frowning at him.

“You can lie to placate a dumb kid because you think it's of no consequence,” Luz whispered, looking at the floor.

“Are you dumb? You don't fall into the category of dumb kids. Okay, I will be frank with you. But this is actually too difficult to explain,” Alex said, taking a deep breath.

“Just talk to me already, you don't have to mince words. No matter what you say, I'm sure I have heard worse in the past,” Luz said impatiently, staring at him.
