TRAPPING THE SNAKE

Aridan walked down with the kids, carrying two heavy bags.

Soon Mac and his assistant walked out, carrying two heavy cartons containing food supplies as well.

"They don't need all that!" Eleanor whispered, feeling angry that Alex was packing food as if he was afraid she will not be able to feed them without his help.

"They already brought it out, sending them back will be too bothersome. One of them can escort you to carry it up to your house, okay? It's a waste. We don't eat most of that, it was bought for the kids. They should just take it along instead of being wasted here," Alex quickly said, fearing another argument.

But to his greatest surprise, she nodded in agreement. The truth was that she was neck deep in debt and was worried about feeding the kids especially when their appetite had enlarged to a frightening level. So Alex's stock of food items, enough to last them two months if used sparingly, was a welcome development.
