The police man that sat facing me was fat. He looked like he was a pretty boy but not any more, he was somewhere around late fifties and was at the brink of retirement. I woke up, I remember falling asleep when I saw streaks of sunlight escape through the blinds and now it's was 10:28 am. The first person that came to my mind was Mandy. My throat was burning, as if I had drank too much of gin, but it didn't burn from the consumption of alcohol, it burnt from thirst. I was done with checking the cabin, I couldn't see anything inside from the outside, but I knew that if anybody was inside they could see me, so I was careful not to make any noise. I woke up, found the bed empty. I brushed my teeth before I went downstairs to find Mandeline. She was cooking, she didn't know I was standing at the door yet, but, it was a sight to behold.
