The Coopers

Chapter seven

His stomach began to grumble,  a reminder of its empty state,  but Lucas's mind was still racing with different tasks ahead of him and how he was going to carry them out without being affected.

He glanced at the clock and was surprised to see that it was already the middle of the night. He ordered light food to be delivered to his room.

His door was knocked after 5 minutes. He knew his food had arrived but didn't want the room service staff to enter his room because it was late. He hurried to meet her at the entrance and was surprised to see Abby's manager sleeping on his knees.

He collected his food and sent the lady back. He noticed that he could not move one of his legs because it had been grabbed by the manager.

He looked back and the manager started begging him that he should take the motor and kill him right away, he knew if he died after selling the car his family would not suffer again.

Lucas observed him for 3 minutes and asked him to enter his room.

He sat on his knee begging him to forgive him and take the car.

"Please Mr Lucas, I know I have wronged you several times,  I was scared that you would take my position because you are more brilliant than me and also smart, you always knew when the latest version of cars would be produced and your prediction was always accurate then, that is why I did many things to get you out of the company because I don't want you to take food out of my mouth. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness,  please forgive me." He pleaded

"Enter," he said with a commanding tone.

He sat down and took his food and the manager kept looking at him eating. He was not comfortable with his looks, so he managed to take some and asked the manager if he was hungry.

"Do you care for some?" he asked.

"No sir,  I don't want to add to my sin" he responded.

He passed the remaining food to him and told him to eat, he showed him where to sleep after the food and said good night to him.

The manager was confused because he refused to say anything to let him know his mind, whether he had been forgiven or not.  He drew the tray of food closer and devoured it like someone who had been hungry for a decade.

Lucas slept for just 2 hours, he managed to put his plan together during the night and was ready to execute it in the morning.

He checked where he asked the manager to sleep and found out that he was fast asleep around 7 a.m. He walked close to him and woke him up to start going home.

Where is the driver that you said you brought? Lucas asked.

"I left him inside the car yesterday,  I believe he must have sorted himself out," he explained.

"Take this, go home and meet your family, did you bring other documents that I need to sign?" Lucas asked.

"Yes sir,  I brought everything," he responded.

He signed all the necessary documents and gave them back to the manager to put on the company stamp and asked the manager to leave and meet his family.

He gave him 5 thousand dollars to use to transport himself back home because he didn't come with his car.

It was the annual gathering of Cooper's Clan, although Lucas knew that he had been expelled and hadn't stepped foot there for seven years now his mother passed away, he wanted to go back home considering that Lydia and her family had divorced him.

Lucas knew that even though he had acquired wealth, they might not accept him back, but he badly wanted to be close to them, that way he could relinquish his revenge on each one of them who had hurt him and caused him pain.

His luxurious wear arrived in time, and he was nervous as he was getting dressed,  he couldn't believe that he just ordered what he never thought of wearing in his life.  He held himself together not to use emotion to spoil his day, his mind flashed back to Fabian and muttered to him himself. "If not Fabian, I wouldn't have become a rich man.  I'm going to find you even if you enter the rat hole, Fabian."

He strode out of the hotel room, got to where his car was and met the driver resting on his car. He opened his wallet, got him some money to take care of himself and told him to go home to get some rest and that he would get someone else to drive him that day.

He called the manager of the hotel to lend him one of their drivers, the manager was happy at his request and got him one and they drove off where he went to meet the long-lost family that rejected him and threw him out on the street because they had written him off as a nobody.

Lucas told his driver to park outside the grand and luxurious club that was specially meant for the most influential in society and it would have to take more than just your income to be able to purchase the membership of the club.

The Coopers own the highest entertainment industry in Chicago so it wasn't difficult for them to get a VIP membership at the club.

He recalled how he was humiliated by his mother and thrown out of this club with nothing. His heart was filled with rage and he controlled himself in order not to show his weakness to his people.

He appeared to them like a shining star, his face was lit up with happiness that seemed to radiate the morning sun. His eyes sparkled with joy and a genuine smile graced his lips.

Everyone was stunned at the sight of  Lucas standing right before them, although he had lost a lot of weight, he was looking more healthy than they had expected.
