CHAPTER 38
Charles returned to his room and rested on his bed. His heart was beating slowly and heavily. A shade of gloom covered his face.

Just after the lunch had finished, Laurel gave him an envelope. He opened it. There were pictures of Sofia meeting other guys at various restaurants and clubs.

That was a shocker for him, even though he knew what type of woman she was.

“She’s been doing this for months,” Laurel said, almost in a pitying tone, “and you’re just one of the many. I’ve heard that her husband also ran away, though they tell the world a different story.”

Laurel’s words deeply hurt his heart as well as his pride. He felt foolish for thinking he could already be Sofia’s priority given how she came after him.

“I didn’t want to show you this right now,” Laurel continued, “but I wanted you to know how most of the rich women are. I’m different, though. I’m seeking for that one person I know I should adjust with and put some of my comforts aside if necessary, but I doubt Sofia comes
