THE RETRIBUTION

CHAPTER 8

“Whaa….aaat!”  Fredrick screamed in shock

 

Patrick and Vee looked at each other wondering what was going on.

“ What could it be?” Patrick wondered 

“Is everything okay Fredie?_” Vee questioned 

Fredrick ignored her question because he his attention was on the call he has received.

“When and how? Where are you now? Text me the location I will join you as soon as possible.” Fredrick said and hanged up the call.

Hurriedly he packed his stuffs and walked to Vee who was still staring at him to say something 

“And where do you think you are going to? I came all the way here to meet you and you are leaving me here just like that what……”

Fredric interrupted

“ Look Vee I don’t have time for this

 Will catch up with you later for now I need to attend to something important. You know your way out leave when you want to.

Also don’t wait for me I might not come back.”

“ Are you being serious Freddie?” 

Before Vee could realize Fredric had left the scene to attend to the one who called.

Vee felt embarrassed about the way Fredric talked to her and left without a nice goodbye

Patrick was just starring at the two without uttering a word.

Vee turned to look at Patrick if he was looking at her but in a rush Patrick bow his head to look on his phone.

“ Err…mm Patrick are you leaving anytime soon. We can move out together if you don’t mind.”

“Patrick….Patrick!” she shouted his name to get his attention

“Yeah yeah…… what were you saying again?” 

Patrick was lost in thought his body was in the office but his mind was on something important which was about Fredric. 

“ Are you ok? You guys are acting so strange today. Hope all is well?” Vee questioned in a worried tone 

“Yeah Vee everything is fine I was just replying some messages I received from the army camp. I’m sorry for being absent minded.” Replied Patrick with a smirk

“Okay. I hope everything is fine there?” Vee asked politely

“ Of course yes you don’t need to worry at all.

I will be taking my leave please.” Said Patrick

“ Oh permit me to give you a ride if you don’t mind.” Said Vee

Patrick smiled and they both left the office.

When they got to the garage Vee pointed her finger at her new Mercedes Benz

“That is my car over there. Let’s hope in and I will take you to your destination.”

“ Wow that’s such a nice car. The new owner in town.” He teased 

Vee chuckled

“ But am sorry I can’t join you in your car since I have my little baby here with me.” Patrick said pointing his hands to his hands to his New Lamborghing

“ Oh really! You own this and I guess many more .” Vee commented

Patrick was in a hurry to leave because he wanted to know where exactly Fredric has gone to in such a rush but Vee was getting in his way. He couldn’t ignore her to make her feel more embarrassed.

He kept on checking his time.

Vee saw how serious Patrick was and said

“ I can see you are in a rush to leave. I won’t waste much of your time since am also in a hurry but before you leave there is something I want to discuss with you. And is about Fredric.”

Hearing Fredric’s name here made his heart skip a beat

“What about Fredric does she want to tell me. Is it connected to My boss and Claribel in any way ?” he thought 

“ Yeah am all ears you can go straight to the point.”

“Since high school you have been the man of my dreams but I couldn’t tell you because our society forbids that. Me being a lady confessing my love to you was kind of awkward which made it difficult for me.  

I confessed to Fredric how I feel about you but he convinced me to be with him instead which o fell for it but seeing you today I my love for you has developed to the next level where I can’t take my eyes off you.” Vee confessed in a low tone 

“Uhhh..mmmm…. Are you being serious here Vee? Well that is in the past and things that happened in the last should be left I’m the past let’s not talk about it.”

Patrick wasn’t expecting this from Vee but hearing this made him feel better. Way back in high school he was no match to the rich kids but hearing from the horses own mouth he thought 

“I can’t believe Vee of all people would love me to this extent.” He smirked 

“Why are you smiling? Did I say something funny?” Vee asked

“Was I ? I didn’t realize I did but if you saw it that way am sorry” Pat apologized

“Oh don’t worry about that. I would love to see you again. Where do you live? Will come over as a friend if you don’t mind?”

“My house…!?”

“Yes. Is something wrong with that? You don’t look happy about that. If you are not ok with that then let me have your number will call you when am ready for us to meet I really want to treat you to dinner or lunch some other time.”. Vee suggested

Vee gave out her card to Patrick to call her anytime he is less busy.

“Of course I will don’t worry. Nice meeting you once again.” Said Patrick

“It’s my pleasure Pat.” Vee giggled

She left to her car as Patrick look at her….

She bid a farewell and drove off.

As he stood there with his head blown to burst thinking about how boldly Vee has confessed her love to him he started smiling to himself forgetting his mission.

He later realized he was outside and needed to leave the place as soon as he can

“What was I thinking ? I need to leave before boss calls me.

He stepped a foot to leave when he heard his phone rang he answered an to his surprise he heard

“Please help me………”
