Chapter 8

The moment Johnny raised his hand, some police and the soldiers fell dead one by one and blood gushed out of them.

The rest of them wondered why. Even Johnny couldn’t understand what was going on. Why are the enemies dying when there’s no one shooting? Johnny took out his gun quickly the moment the enemies were distracted.

“This is teamwork. He did not come alone.”

“Retreat!”

“Retreat!”

“A man is down.”

Blood splashed on the wall, cars, and faces.

Johnny couldn’t do anything as he hide behind the deck, even though he was the only person inside the mortuary. He looked at Kai’s corpse on the floor, wondering if Kai shoot them. Johnny shook his head, for it was unbelievable. How could a ghost shoot?

“Shoot them. They’re hiding there.”

“Come on, cover me.”

“Ah!”

Johnny rose the moment he heard his protectors had been seen hiding. He must do everything to protect them, too. Getting out, Johnny couldn’t do anything as he saw many police and soldiers’ dead bodies on the floor.

His protectors were behind a bus, shooting silent guns. Not long after Johnny and his secret protectors conquered the enemies, Johnny carried Kai’s corpse and move closer to his protectors. They’re three, two men and a lady.

“Who are you guys? And why are you protecting me?” Johnny asked.

“Where are you taking Kai to?” one man asked.

“You haven’t answered my question.”

“We can’t tell you here,” the lady said.

“Okay then. Follow me.” Johnny put Kia’s corpse in the car and drove it home while his protectors followed him onto their bus.

Hannah had been staring at the window, waiting for Johnny’s return. She was glad the moment she saw the car coming, and was baffled when she saw another bus following the car.

She took a gun that belongs to Kai and rushed down as if she can shoot.

“Who are you?” Hannah aimed the gun at the men who had just jumped down from the bus. “Johnny, they had been following you. I will protect you.”

Johnny smiled. “They’re my friends.”

“Friends?” Hannah lowered the gun. “But you don’t have friends.”

Johnny’s protector laughed, and the lady hugged Hannah.

“I’m Stella Garcia. It’s good to meet you, Hannah.”

Confusion spread across Hannah’s face. “How do you know my name?”

“I’m Alex Lee.”

“Sean Cooper. We’re trained fighters, also we are hackers. Kai wanted us to visit Johnny after we have done with the underground room. We helped him get the police’s helicopter the day he saved Johnny and Hannah from the shop.”

Alex then walked closer to Johnny. “Now you know why my question is important. Where are you taking Kai to?”

“His grandfather wanted to see him,” Johnny said.

“How would you take his corpse to Georgetown? It’s risky? The government had released many military men to catch you,” Stella said.

Johnny sighed. “I must do this. Can you get me a helicopter?”

Stella rubbed his hair. “No.”

“Can anyone of you fly it?”

“Of course.”

“Okay. I would buy one,” Johnny said.

Hannah widened her eyes as she looked at Johnny. “You want to buy a helicopter?”

Johnny rubbed her head and looked at the hackers. “Please sleep here tonight. We would buy a helicopter tomorrow and would fly Kai to Georgetown.”

“I would like to tell Johnny something before we go in,” Stella said and then looked at Johnny. “Lucas knew nothing about Kai’s death. We would tell you about everything tomorrow.”

Although Johnny can’t wait to know the person behind Kai’s death, he nodded his head willingly.

“Follow me,” Hannah said, and they followed her into the house, except for Johnny, who entered the car to see Kai’s face again.

Johnny set his tears free. He wasn’t ready for this, and he blamed himself. If he has not called Kai at that moment, everything will still be fine now. Johnny wiped his tears with his backhand and burst into more tears.

He slept late at midnight, and Alex woke him up in the morning. Johnny barely opened his heavy eyes. The sun from the mirror hurt his eyes.

“Sorry for disturbing your sleep, boss. It seems you slept late. We need to buy the helicopter and fly Kai as soon as possible,” Alex said.

Johnny locked the car as he gets out of it. “Let’s take a taxicab there.”

“Why would a billionaire take a taxicab?”

“This is how I must live. Don’t tell anyone I’m rich until I tell you so. Okay?”

“Okay, boss.”

“Where are the others?”

“Having breakfast inside.”

“Why don’t you eat?”

“I lost my appetite. Why would I eat when my lovely boss hasn’t received a proper burial? He won’t like his body being inside the car.” Alex cleaned his tears.

Maybe it’s because of his gingery hair, or his sharp nose, or maybe because Alex shows his love to Kai, Johnny loves him.

They took a taxicab to the Fly Flapper company. Getting there, they saw engineers repairing the helicopter’s engine.

“What are you here for?” A man fitting the helicopter’s fan asked.

“We’re here to buy a helicopter,” Alex said.

The man laughed. “Are you kidding me? I’ve been watching you guys coming out of the taxicab. Just tell me the truth. Are you here for a cleaning job?”

Alex frowned. “Will you answer us or we should go to another person?”

“You’re lucky I’m friendly to you. Many poor men like you guys had been rejected today for part-time jobs. Do you think you can impress us with your jokes? I’m the only friendly person here for the poor. If you guys love yourself, go back home now. The securities won’t take it lightly with you.”

“Who told you we’re poor?” Johnny asked.

“Nobody needs to tell me since I am not blind. Look at your sandals.” The man pointed at Johnny. “You can’t even afford to buy a sandal to walk. How would you afford to buy a helicopter to fly?”

“What’s going on there?” The manager walked closed with some soldiers.
