SHE'S INNOCENT

Jude's hands tightened around the steering wheel as he navigated through the familiar city streets on his way back from work.

The day had been a mix of meetings, emails, and the usual demands of his job. He glanced at his phone, noticing an incoming call from an unknown number. Puzzled, he swiped to answer.

"Hello?" he said, his voice carrying a hint of curiosity.

"Hello, Jude," a voice on the other end greeted him. It was a voice he hadn't heard in a while, but one that he recognized instantly. Laura. He knew Laura to be Judith's friend.

A mix of surprise and wariness washed over him. "Laura? How did you get my number?"

There was a pause on the other end before Laura's voice responded. "Let's just say I have my ways, Jude."

"Really?" Jude said as he smiled.

There was a soft sigh on the other end of the line. "I know you must be surprised to hear from me. I just wanted to talk, if you're willing."
