In the aftermath of the news of Donald's death, Vera found herself navigating a path toward healing and understanding. That afternoon, as Vera was sitting on one of the sofas in the living room, Albert walked up to her.

"Vera," Albert had said, "I know how important it is for you to talk to Donald's parents. As soon as they're back in the country, we'll try to arrange a meeting with them."

"Really? Are they out of the country?" Vera asked in surprise.
