THE PAINFUL BETRAYAL

Rodney sat in his dimly lit living room, his eyes fixed on the small television set in front of him, but his mind was elsewhere.

He was yet to find out that Donald had escaped. He had put everything in place to make sure that Donald was killed, and all he was waiting for was feedback from the men he had asked to kill Donald.

Rodney turned his attention to the man sitting across from him.

"Where are the others?" Rodney demanded, his voice low and menacing.

The man shifted in his seat, clearly uncomfortable. "I don't know, sir. I haven't seen them since morning. They just disappeared."

Rodney narrowed his eyes, studying the man's face for any signs of deception. "What about Donald? Has he been killed?"

"Errmmm...I'm not sure." The man stammered looking down at the floor. "What do you mean you're not sure? Are you not one of those put in charge of him?!" Rodney asked in anger.

"Yes, you sent me on an errand, and by the time I returned, there was no trace of Donald or the two other men.
