"Make sure no one comes close enough to this van." George looked at his personal guards. The nurses all watched as Jason was moved through the hospital hallway.

The view was glamorous, and it looks like they were moving the president of the nation.

"Be careful." Mr. George shouted occasionally as Jason was lifted into the back of the van where some specialists were seated waiting for him.

"I'm coming with you, Dad." Marcus said, looking at his father. "No, you are not." George replied. "Why not? He is my best friend, and I am not going to leave him alone." Marcus said angrily.

"You wanted me to handle it from here onwards; that is why you came to me. Now leave the rest to me and go to school like a normal teenager. Zeek and Evelyn are going to help and make sure we get to the safe house in one piece."

Marcus sighed, "Call me when you get to the safe house."

"We need to leave now before the reporters get a wind of what was happening.

The convoy screeched to a halt, the air thick with the acrid smell of burnt rubber. George's heart sank as he peered out of the limousine, his eyes narrowing at the chaos unfolding ahead. A black SUV had slammed into the rear vehicle of their convoy, effectively blocking their escape."Zeek, Evelyn, get ready!" George’s voice was sharp as he reached for the pistol under his seat. Beaded sweat formed on his forehead. Evelyn stepped out first, her movements calm but deliberate as she scanned the street. "Stay in the car, Mr. George," she said firmly. "We’ll handle this."Masked figures emerged from the SUV, each armed and advancing toward the van carrying Jason. Venom stood among them, his calm attitude sending a chill through the air."Hand over Jason Carter, and no one else needs to die," Venom called out, his voice carrying over the street. The people ran helter skelter as rounds of bullets were let into the air to send a warning message to George and his entourage. George pushed

[THREE WEEKS AFTER THE GUNSHOT INCIDENT] The Carter's mansion bubbled with a lot of noise as many of the family members all day down. " I am the next in line after the death of Jason!" Henry Carter barked. " Is that your way of admitting you had a had in his gun shot?" Eric said slowly raising an eyebrow from where he sat down. " How dare you accuse me of such? Did the police found any concrete evidence pointing to me as the culprit?" Henry scowled. The room erupted into another frenzy mode with the lawyer in the middle trying to calm them down. "We haven't seen Mr. Jason's corpse yet; I can't agree to the fact that he is dead. Before we can go on and appoint the next successor, I need to know if Mr. Jason is dead or not." The lawyer said finally, "What are you saying? Are you telling us to wait for the comeback of a little boy? Who is going to take care of the family business when we don't even know where he is?" Camilla said with an outburst of rage. "I think I can l

The news of Jason's death spread throughout the whole city. The headline was all about him and the mysterious killer who had tried to take his life. The school buzzed with the news, and not only the school but the Mathews, who stood to benefit from Jason's death, too. "Do you think Ethan planned this?" One of the students said, staring at his friend. "Ethan? Do you think he is capable of such? He might be a bully, but I don't think he would want to do something as stupid as trying to kill Jason Carter. I don't think he and Jason are in the same league anymore." Ethan walked past them with his friends. His eyes darted among the students as he heard their soft whispers. "Let them gloat. They are beneath you anyways." A voice came from behind him. Ethan turned to see Fiona looking stunning. "I thought you should be at home." He said gently, staring at her face. "Why? You don't want to be seen with me?" Fiona asked with her hands crossed on her breast. "Not that. It is bad enough that

"Yes, I am going to give that to anyone who saw who the shooter was," Marcus replied. Mr. Reynolds took the microphone again. "You all heard him. We need to be our brother's keeper. Jason is a part of this school, and we need to help him one way or the other," the school authority said. "And what if I say I would pay double the amount to keep that person silent?" Ethan's voice boomed from the back seat." Marcus turned slowly to meet his gaze. "Is that a way of saying that you have a hand in the gunshot incident?" Everyone looked at Marcus as he found his way towards Ethan, who was seated. "It is no news that I hate Jason Carter," Ethan said, blowing out a speck of dust from his long nails. "Do you think I care what you say about me?" Ethan looked at Marcus, who was fuming with anger. "I still wonder why you are allowed to roam the co

"Can you tell me what is going on?" Marcus asked, staring at his father. He could see that he was a bit sweaty. "Don't worry. I have everything under control." George looked at his son. "You and you." He pointed to some of his men. "Follow me." George was about to walk out when he looked back at Zeek and Evelyn, "Make sure no one comes into the building. Be alert." Marcus knew something was wrong, but then he couldn't place his hand on it. He knew his father still saw him as a teenager and would always do everything to have him protected. He was about to charge after his father when Evelyn pulled him back. "You should listen to him. He didn't tell you for a reason." "Who are you to order and tell me what to do! He is mine, and I am going after him." Marcus snapped at her. "Fine. Soothe yourself." Evelyn said, gently releasing her firm grip. ":Why? what is happening?" Evelyn asked again seeing that Week's hands were on his gun. " I think something is going to happen to night. I can sense it." Zeek replied looking around the house. The air around the safe house was thick with tension, the kind that prickled the skin and set nerves on edge. Evelyn watched him carefully, her instincts telling her that whatever was happening outside was only the beginning. Inside the safe house, Marcus paced the room like a caged animal. The weight of not knowing gnawed at him. He couldn't shake the uneasy feeling he was having about his father. "Zeek," Marcus called out, his voice sha

Jason noticed the name flashed across the screen of the phone, but Marcus was fast enough to pick it up. "I need to receive this," he said, walking out of the barroom. Jason's countenance changed; he knew Marcus was hiding something, and he wasn't sure if it was right for him to ask who he was talking to. "What is it going to be?" Henry Carter asked "I will do it. What do you want me to do?" Marcus asked. "First, I want you to meet up with Ethan Mathew. You both need to join hands in taking Jason down. We go all out from now on. It is us against him; we can take him." Henry's voice showed he was happy. "Is that all?" Marcus asked again. " No, your father's company. We can use that to spoil Jason's reputation. I heard he managed to thwart Ethan's plan. The boy is not very smart, or should I say Jason is way above his league?"I will see what I can do." Marcus said and cut off the line without hesitation. "God, what do I do?" Marcus said, slamming his hand against the table. He stared at the envelope his father left behind. It was incriminating, and there was no way he could understand what was written in them. It was glaring that his father was a culprit, and he did it without being forced to. Marcus stood up from the chair he sat on, his face glued to the picture of his fath

He was having a migraine as a result of the head bath. "I won't exactly call that stalking. I was just trying to make sure you are safe. Nothing more," Alessia replied. Jason stared at her, not sure of what to say. His grandfather's will had made it known he had to get married to either one of the sisters, but looking at Alessia, he could see right through her. To Jason, she was another Linda who was after material things, but he needed to put her loyalty to the test. "Are you alright?" Jason asked, putting on a show as he moved closer to her. He saw she had a scratch on her body, and she was bleeding. Jason took out his phone and called a mechanic to come and tow his car and that of Alessia to an auto mechanic.
