UNEXPECTED GUETS

When Diana arrived home, she made her way straight to the living room. The room had become their everything—their sitting room, dining area, and bedroom as well. All the other rooms in the humongous mansion were completely out of bounds for them.

Her mother was still lying on the sofa where she had left her. She was unable to speak like the day before. She had a broken leg, a broken hand, and several dislocations. Her face had turned purple from the beatings. Her lower lip was competitively bloated and torn to the point that even the houseflies were sticking to it.

"Mom," Diana called as she shook her a little to let her know of her arrival. Unfortunately, her mother was not in a condition to speak or even react. Only tears flowed in response to her daughter. Tears filled the eyes of Diana again after seeing her mother’s deteriorating condition.

“May I know where you went, you useless woman?” Her uncle asked as he came down from upstairs with a bottle of whisky in his hands. He halted
