19. A Time-Wasting Distraction

Anna regretted the words she said in that moment so much, that she wanted the ground to open and swallow her up. It could have been her self-preservation instincts kicking in or her disbelief over what she just witnessed but adamantly, she declared,

“I do not believe Wintore will let people like you through their gates. If Wintore does not so much as open their gates for you, you will kowtow and bark like a dog before me, right in front of their gates! Are you willing to take up the bet?”
