Captain Joseph did as was commanded by his king. Early the next morning, alongside a few other warriors, they set off on a journey to Lampa Kingdom. After they left, King Martin had his time alone in the palace. He took this time conversating with the sculpture and portraits of his late father.
He was promising to keep alive what he had started and, to accomplish what he, his father, had not a good chance to do when he was alive. This was to conquer Lampa Kingdom and take over the reign.
“Father, it is sad that you had to die without having accomplished what you had always dreamt of; being a King to both Kamu and Lampa Kingdoms. I promise to carry on your legacy and dream to rule both Kingdoms for the both of us. I will make sure to prove to you what a King you made me to be. The gods rest your soul in peace father,” Martin conversed to the sculpture of his late father.
Two days later, he was surprised by the return of his sister, Dorothy, from her tour. This was surely a surprise for him. He could not help to wonder how soon she had returned until he asked her about it. Without cause of suspicion to the sister, he had to act normal and happy for her early return safely. He welcomed her back to the palace as usual and thanked the gods for her safe return.
Since he knew that she would ask of the Captain’s whereabouts upon realization of his absence, he told her to have given him and a couple of warriors some time off for other duties. They were to tour several other Kingdoms and bring new findings.
“I salute you my sister. I hope you had a good trip to the Kingdom from which you come. Gratitude be to the gods for bringing you back to us safely,” said the King to the sister.
“I salute you too my King. Thank you for the welcome you have given me back to this land and for showing concern when I was away. Indeed, the gods have assuredly been with me and here I have returned safely,” replied the sister.
Martin needed to eliminate his sister suspecting anything. “Before you go to your chambers and have the maidens give you their best, something I would like you to know. As you can see… the Captain, including a few other warriors are not present. I sent them on reconnoiter at the other Kingdoms. The aim is to bring me news about what fellow Kings say about our rule as well as new techniques from them,” said the King to the sister.
“Very well then my lord. It is good to have sent the warriors to get these new insights. Meanwhile, I wish to retire to my chambers for relaxing. I have had a very long journey and I am exhausted,” concluded the sister as she left for her chambers.
After they parted, he summoned one other warrior to trail the Captain and his subordinates. He was to tell them of what to do and say upon return to the palace. The Princess was now with the maidens as they welcomed and pampered her as their lovely Princess.
As this was going on, Jessica, the Chief maiden, to whom Dorothy was close and open, was seated by her side. She was sharing the progress of the land to Dorothy while she was away. Jessica, having heard what the King had told the sister at the time of her arrival, she needed to tell her the true story but was afraid.
After a while of deep thoughts, Dorothy noted Jessica’s mood variation and decided to inquire about it. Jessica, in response with a shaky voice whispered to Dorothy, “My princess, I am sorry to say this but it bothers me as such to withhold no more. Your brother, the King, lied to you earlier about the captain’s whereabouts.”
That very minute, Dorothy relieved all the other maidens off their duties and shown them to the door. Only she and Jessica were left in the chambers, as she wanted. Jessica had begun to fear of what the Princess was about to do to her.
Instead, Dorothy meant no harm to Jessica. She just wanted to hear the truth from her. Jessica narrated the whole story to her and the main reason for sending them while she was away. She requested the Princess to plead with her brother about it.
After hearing the truth, Dorothy promised to look into the matter. She had to do it indirectly such that Martin would not suspect anything. If he did, Jessica or any of the maidens would be in trouble.
Dorothy did not seem so surprised after hearing this truth though. After they parted, Jessica was worried and left with lots of unanswered queries. She was wondering why the Princess did not have much of a reaction yet, she had been lied to by her blood brother, the King.
For many years, Jessica had served as a maiden in the palace. Dorothy’s calm reaction upon hearing the news was not amongst the many traits she had learnt from those before Dorothy. Certainly, Jessica knew something was wrong and Dorothy might have heard the news told to her before her return.
It could also mean that, she might have liked her brother's plan. After all, it explained her earlier return to the palace contrary to when she was expected. Jessica was left with two things to figure out. First, from whom Dorothy could have heard the truth beforehand, and second, whether Dorothy liked her brother’s idea.
Had she to find out that Dorothy knew of her brother’s agenda beforehand, she needed to know why the Princess would have someone tell her of such occurrences happening in her absence.
The days after which King Martin had sent the Captain, the son rose in the opposite direction at Lampa Kingdom. The King woke up to a nightmare of the surprise visit by the Captain and warriors from Kamu Community. This was a spell of doom to the people of Lampa. Upon arrival at the palace, without much to say and more to add to the message, the Captain opened his mouth in alter of the message from King Martin. “I and my warriors from Kamu Kingdom salute your highness. It is with much honor and need for peace that we stand before you and this throne. We come to deliver a message from our King to your highness. May you allow us to speak this message to fulfill our duty to our lordship King Martin?” uttered Captain Joseph. “I, the King of Lampa Kingdom, on behalf of my people salute you as well. I offer you welcome as I give hear to this message that you bring forth from your King. You may speak my son.” King Kang’ethe responded. “King Martin requests you to surrender the throne and t
Joseph, though a Captain of the Kamu Community was not a beast as thought to be. He was a man that hoped for better things, loved peace and hated human torture. Back at the Kamu Kingdom, the Princess was doing everything to ensure that what she had heard from Jessica was told to her by the King himself. Though the King was her brother, Dorothy knew that if she told him of her source, not even she could hold his rage towards Jessica and the maidens. An idea came to Dorothy that, the only way to win was to play the King’s game. She had to join in his game but she still had a problem of how to do it. Thought after thought, she finally had the way in. Since she was away, she used this to do the magic. As a woman, she knew a man’s best moments is also his weakest as well. She started by praising his reign over those that she had come across during her tour. She also added that, her wish was to see him rule even a greater Kingdom. “You know brother, I have toured a couple of Kingdoms but
With everything in play and in line with their plans, it was now the time for them to execute and do it to the best of their ability. Dorothy, being the heart of the King’s mission, she knew that she was a step ahead. Indeed, Jessica’s guess was not a guess after all! She never seemed disturbed by the news told to her by Jessica because, she heard someone tell her earlier. One morning after the King had left for his expeditions, Dorothy demanded for the Captain’s presence in her private chambers. Upon the Captain’s arrival into the palace, there happened what could never have been thought of even to the off springs to come. With the King’s absence, there was no much movement in the palace. They had the perfect time to be together without much suspicion and eyes on them. Their greeting alone was a sign of not only two people that longed to be together but, also for those in deep love! Dorothy, being an offspring of the royal blood was not to have an affair or be in any relationship wi
Upon her arrival into the chambers, Dorothy was shocked by Jessica’s visit. Dorothy asked her of where she was and why she had visited even without notice. Although it was weird for Dorothy to question her visit, Jessica claimed to be checking on her. It was her duty as the chief maiden to check and make sure the Princess was okay. Due to the little span of time between the Captain’s departure and Jessica’s arrival, the Princess was sure of one thing. Jessica and Joseph must have met somewhere along the way. This was no good news to her bearing in mind the many secrets that needed to keep secret. Though Jessica was so close to her, she was not at a position to know about her relationship with the Captain or the mission. Without any further waste of time, Dorothy came up with a way to lower the heat in the room. ”I believe you have come across the Captain on his way out as you were coming?” asked Dorothy. “Yes my princess. I have met him just after the stairway. He has told me that,
Lampa Kingdom was still under tension and preparation in wait of this fateful event. King Kang’ethe and his wife Jacinta were the most troubled. They could not stop to blame themselves for having no heir to the throne, if not the gods. They were certain that it was the main reason why King Martin threatened to attack. If wishes were horses, they could have an heir to the throne for; they could have given an ear to the council members to adopt. King Kang’ethe, back in the days got married to Jacinta while still in power. After their marriage, he realized the pleasure of being in love. He loved Jacinta so much that he never dreamt of a life without her. It was during this time that he decided every man had the right to love and the people were at liberty to fall in love. A year later, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter and heir to the throne. Lampa being the only Kingdom where the people had the right to love, this brought a lot of tension in the other Kingdoms. After a while
In between the last day of battle and this day that he was summoned by the King, he took his time to consult the Princess of the way forward. He was cautious enough to avoid being spotted or raise suspicion. The reasons he gave the King were those they had discussed with his lover. This shifted the blame from his side to the battalion as a whole. Finally, they concluded that, something better needed to be done for next time. “Captain, tell me, what happened out there at the battle field such that I had to withdraw the warriors. Is this Captainship becoming a burden to you, or, what is it that made you lose to Lampa for God’s sake. Enlighten me Captain,” asked the King. “My lord, it’s not that the Captainship is a burden to me but, the Lampa warriors were quite prepared for us and some new warriors were not well prepared. We did not have enough time to have them be the best my King,” said the Captain. “So Captain, you are telling me that the warriors were not well prepared. Since whe
Without waste of anymore second, she came up with her own theory to get Joseph off the hook. In this theory, she made sure to implicate Mwithali to get him off their backs completely. This meant that Mwithali had to die no matter the cost. He was becoming a stump on their way to success. Although she had this figured out, she could not tell it directly to the King. It could either get her and Joseph exposed, else it could sound staged or vague. She had to do it in such a way not to raise an alarm. She also needed to make sure that Joseph knew of her plan. Their talk and accusations towards Mwithali needed to match; else, it could mean disaster. This approach to the King needed to use facts such that, he was supposed to convince himself of Joseph’s innocence. This therefore meant that, Dorothy had to use a trusted warrior to deliver an encrypted message to the Captain. He was to inform the Captain of her plan. After she did this, she was now free to open up to the King and tell of thi
“What is your name warrior?” the Princess asked.“My name is Judas your highness,” he replied.“Do you know the reason you are hear?” asked Dorothy? No my Princess. I do not know why I was summoned,” Judas said.“Are you familiar with what happens to those warriors who mess around with the King’s maidens?”“Yes I am very much aware my Princess but, what does that have to do with me?”“Well, I was hoping you could tell me about it.”“Sorry to question you my Princess but, why should I tell you about it?”“Well, as funny as that is, it has come to my attention that, you have been messing around with a King’s maiden.”“Forgive me my Princess but that is not true. I know not about this maiden you talk about.”“Assuming that were
