Melissa's heart pounded in her chest as she swiftly ended the phone call with Anderson. Without wasting a moment, she grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder in a hurried motion.

Turning to Cynthia, she urgently instructed, "Cancel all my appointments for today. I'll be out of the office." Cynthia nodded in acknowledgment.

The office seemed to blur as Melissa hurriedly made her way out, her heels clicking on the polished floors. She briskly walked to the elevator, her mind racing with a mix of fear and anticipation. The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open. She entered into the lift and the minute long journey seemed to stretch for all of eternity.

As she exited the building, the cool breeze hit her face, and she quickened her pace towards the parking lot. Unlocking her car, she hopped in, the engine roaring to life as she keyed it. Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as she drove, her mind preoccupied with worries about Nicholas.

Of course, it was him.
