“What the ...?”

Carl sweated, the banquet was canceled?

Liam was right?

There had been no mentions of who the new CEO was, but seeing the calm look on Liam’s face, Carl felt disturbed.

What if what Liam said was true?

Slowly, he shifted his gaze towards Liam, disbelief and anger evident on his face.

“No… no, that can’t be real. It just can’t.”

Carl’s voice trembled as he stared at Liam, his eyes wide with disbelief, his whole body frozen as his mind scrambled for an explanation.

‘But that would mean that he’s my boss.’ The realization gripped him with even more fear.

"That can't be true! There must be some reason that the banquet was canceled!"

Carl shouted with a deep voice.

"What? The banquet was truely canceled? Which means...that poor guy was right?"

Yona sweated, she said anxiously, "Dear, what's happening? How come..."

"Shut the...up!" Carl yelled whispering, he texted fast to his boss.

He must figure out the real reason that they cancel the banquet! If Liam was truely the CEO of Space Cooperation...then he would be DOOMED!

"Can't be true, that can't be true..." Carl sent the message, and he waited for the response worriedly.

Buzz!

Carl took the phone and checked the message worriedly.

"I don't know why they canceled the banquet, but I heard President Young's daughter was badly illed...he was the most important board member, so the new CEO must be visiting his daughter tonight."

"Haha! I knew it!" Carl took a big relief, he laughed and thought he exposed Liam's lie again.

“It turns out President Michael Young had a family emergency. His daughter suddenly fell into a coma, so they had to cancel the welcome dinner tonight!”

He explained, still piecing it together himself.

“It turns out that this lying loser here, tried to sell us on another one of his ridiculous stories. Someone should really throw this piece of shit out here, his lies are starting to annoy me.”

Carl sneered. He was sure he had just unveiled another of Liam’s lie.

While he wasn’t entirely sure if that was the whole story, it seemed like enough to explain the sudden change of plans.

Michael Young was the president of the city’s largest chamber of commerce, also the most important board member of the company.

So it was so normal that the banquet was canceled.

Carl heaved a deep sigh of relief. It all made sense now. It was all a coincidence. There was no way Liam could actually be the new CEO. The Young family just had an emergency to attend to.

Carl raised his phone and said at a loud voice, "This poor guy is just lucky, he somehow knew that the banquet was canceled, and wanted to bluff us!"

Yona took a relief, she said ironically to Mia, "Dear sister, I think you should descipline your fiancee well. He should be more honest, otherwise he would embarass our family."

Mia was so embarassed, but Liam shook his head, "You're so ignorant. This is not the reason why the banquet was canceled."

Carl shifted his gaze back to Liam, a cold sneer appearing on his face,

“Wow, you’re really committed to this story, aren’t you? So, what’s the next plot twist?”

He asked, clapping slowly, voice laced with sarcasm.

Liam frowned having overheard Carl’s conversations. He was about to explain the misinformation when suddenly his phone rang, catching everyone’s attention.

He glanced at the screen and seeing it was Jack Gunter, moved to a corner to take the call.

After a brief hesitation, Liam answered,

“Jack?”

“I’m sorry to disturb you, Young Master, but we need your help. Michael Young’s daughter's situation suddenly got worse, and they can’t figure out what’s wrong.” Jack said in a desperate but hushed tone.

“The family is really desperate young master. They’ve tried everything, but nothing seems to work. The Youngs have been loyal subordinates of our family for years, and they are hoping you can help. I know this may not be a good time, but….”

Jack’s voice trailed off, heavy with concern.

Liam took a deep sigh and said, “I’ll be there right now.”

Then ended the call.

He turned back to Lord David, “I’m sorry, I’ll have to decline your invitation this time. There’s an urgent matter I need to attend to.” He said earnestly and turned away.

Upon hearing this, Yona’s brow furrowed angrily, “What could possibly be more important than dinner with your future in-laws?” She demanded, stopping Liam mid-stride.

Liam shifted his gaze across the faces in the room, their expressions expectant and irritated. Finally, he spoke, “Michael Young’s daughter is critically ill and needs my immediate treatment, else she’ll die.”

The room fell silent for some time, and then suddenly everyone erupted in loud laughter.

“Sure. Michael Young called you himself right, Mr. Healer?” Melissa mocked, barely holding back a smirk.

“This must be a new level of bragging. What will he say next?” Yona scoffed, her irritation growing.

“Go ahead, I’m sure you don’t want to keep Master Young waiting.” Carl joined in, shaking his head in disbelief.

“You’re just a pathetic liar.”

Liam glanced at him, confusion riddled on his face, “I’m not certain what part you think is a lie. I’m a medical god, and Mr. Young truly needs my help.”

Carl crossed his arms, smirking maliciously, “Why don’t you accept the truth for a change?” He asked with disdain.

  • For Us

By the time it was midday, the sun had warmed every corner of the estate. Light spilled in through tall windows, touching old portraits and fresh flowers. Liam was in the nursery, staring at Zion like he was the only thing that mattered in the world. Just then, the door clicked open, and Mia walked in slowly. When she saw them, she smiled. “He’s finally asleep again,” she whispered.Liam chuckled quietly. “That’s the third time in an hour.”“Fourth,” she corrected with a tired smile. “I counted.”He came over and wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. “You’re amazing, you know that?” He said and kissed her shoulder lightly.Mia leaned her head back into his chest. “So are you.”They stood like that for a while, just taking in each other’s warmth and reflecting on their journey. For a moment, neither of them believed they would be standing where they were now with each other. Now the war was over, and their family was blessed with a son. “I’ve been

  • Little Steps, Big World

The next morning came with a breeze that carried the scent of blooming magnolias. The city could finally breathe easily. There were no gunshots, no marching boots. Just the hum of life returning. At the Stevens estate, the air was still, except for the soft rustling of linen curtains and the quiet cooing of a newborn in his crib.Mia stirred awake first, and her arms instinctively reached out to Zion’s crib, only to find it already empty. She panicked and sat up, searching around but just then the bedroom door creaked open. Liam stepped in barefoot, wearing a plain shirt and sweatpants with Zion tucked gently in his arms. “Hey,” he whispered. “Didn’t mean to wake you.”Mia’s face softened and she exhaled in relief. “You didn’t. I just… instinct.”He walked over, and sat beside her on the bed. “He woke up before dawn. Just stared at the ceiling like he was thinking about saving the world.”Mia giggled as she took Zion into her arms. “He’s one day old, Liam.”“Still smarter than me,” Li

  • Peace, Finally

The early morning sky glowed softly, the birds chirped, and for once, the city was quiet. There were no sirens, explosions, or just the bustling sounds of people going about their day. Just a slow sunrise crawling over the skyline like a promise. It was as if everybody in the city had the same idea and just decided to have a slow morning.Inside the Stevens estate, everything was still and ordinary until Mia screamed.“Push, Mia, one more!” the midwife urged.Liam gripped her hand tightly and held it close to his chest. His other hand wiped sweat from her forehead. “You’re doing amazing. I’m right here.”Mia gritted her teeth and let out another cry, her face pale but fierce. The pain tore through her, but she bore through it and with one final breath, she pushed, and the next minute, the room was filled with the piercing sound of a newborn’s cry.“It’s a boy!” the midwife exclaimed, lifting the baby and quickly wrapping him in a soft blanket. “Do you want to take a look at him?” She

  • The Truth

The night sky was still thick with the smoke from the battle and blinking lights throughout the safe house. Liam stood on the roof, staring out at the burning wreckage of Vaughn’s attack. The city had bled enough. But still the war wasn’t over, not until Vaughn was in chains or dead.Vaughn had disappeared again after he escaped his shot. This was turning into some sick game for him, and this time, Liam was ready to play. Suddenly, footsteps echoed behind him. Jack appeared, his clothes torn, with a gash across his cheek, but his eyes were as sharp as ever.“They’re cornered in the east corridor. Vaughn’s in there,” Jack said, breathing heavily. “He’s not going to make it easy.”Liam turned to him slowly with a mischievous smile. “Nothing worth saving ever is.”Then he started walking, brushed past him then stopped and turned. “Let’s go.”They descended into the lower levels of the safe house, moving through charred halls and broken walls. Laura and her team held the perimeter, guardi

  • The Final Siege

The night sky burned red. From the moment Vaughn’s forces breached the outer zone, the city was no longer safe. Streets that were once patrolled by Liam’s allies were now overrun by rogue Tribunal enforcers, hired thugs, and old loyalists Vaughn had secretly gathered. It wasn’t just an attack, it was a declaration that he wasn’t done yet.Just as Liam had expected, Vaughn was finally striking back. This time, he wasn’t hiding behind the Tribunal to do it. He was showing Liam that he didn’t need them to take over the city.Inside the mansion, alarms blared and Liam’s guards rushed across the hallways, shouting into radios and securing every section of the building. Jack stood at the center of it all, barking orders.“Secure the east wing! I want eyes on the perimeter, now!”Mia clutched the side railing of the staircase, her breath coming in short. She could hear distant gunfire, and people screaming as their bodies hit the floor. But it wasn’t just the fear clawing at her, it was the

The rain came down hard that evening. It was the kind of rain that made the streets shine like glass and drowned the noise of the city. Inside the newly established oversight council headquarters, Liam stood by the window, watching people rush beneath umbrellas. He looked calm, but he wasn’t completely calm. “I don’t trust it,” Jack muttered, arms crossed behind him. “The air’s too still lately. Either they’re planning something, or we’ve missed something.”“The Tribunal has been too quiet, and that cannot be a good thing. I know Ainsley said he was going to talk to them, but they won’t just give up control of the city completely like this, would they?” He asked, shifting his gaze back to Liam.Liam didn’t answer immediately. His fingers tapped against the glass and then he raised them to his hair, combing it softly,“They won’t take this lying down,” Liam finally said. “The Tribunal may be crumbling, but the ones left behind, the ones that are still holding firm to their ideals and
