The hall fell into an abrupt silence, every eye fixed on Liam as if he were the main act of a circus. Then, the quiet was shattered by bursts of loud, derisive laughter.
"A hundred million dollars?!" Carl repeated, barely containing his mirth.
"How desperate is this man?" Melissa scoffed, her contempt unmistakable.
"Does he truly believe we're that gullible?"
"You? A hundred million?" Yona sneered, her eyes narrowing. "You're out of your mind."
Mia felt her cheeks flame with embarrassment. She couldn't fathom how Liam was making such a fool of her.
What an insufferable boaster!
How could he continue to posture so arrogantly when it was clear he didn't possess a hundred million dollars?
She stormed over to him, her eyes ablaze with indignation, and clutched his hand firmly, pulling him aside.
"Please stop this!" she implored whispering, her brow furrowed in irritation.
"You're not just humiliating yourself, but me as well."
"I know I asked you to play along, but I have everything under control, and you're ruining it with your absurd lies! Do you really think anyone here believes you have that kind of money?"
"But..." Liam tried to interject.
"Enough! You've said enough, so just stop and don't say anything else!" she demanded calmly.
Liam surveyed the room, witnessing the rest of the family still laughing at him.
He sighed, raked a hand through his hair, and turned back to Mia,
"I'm not lying," he said softly, "I have no reason to deceive anyone."
Carl smirked triumphantly and stepped closer, "You know you don't have to feel ashamed."
He looked down at Liam,
"Look around, no one here is buying your ridiculous story. I know you must feel out of place among us, but if you let go of your pride, maybe I can help you. We always need people like you for the menial tasks and running errands."
He spoke in a condescending tone.
"So if you're thinking about a career change..." he paused for effect, chuckling,
"Oh wait, I might be assuming too much. Do you even have a job?" Carl grinned as if he'd made a witty remark.
"If you're looking for a job, perhaps I can assist. I'm the manager at Space Corporation—the largest company in Springfield, I'm sure you're aware. I could probably find a department for you, Liam."
"Did you at least get a college education?" His voice dripped with sarcasm.
Liam stood quietly, one eyebrow raised.
"Space Corporation?" He smiled slightly.
He was the heir to the Maron family, worth trillions, Space Corporation was his one of his family's business.
Carl laughed, "Oh, of course. A country bumpkin might not know Space Corporation...But I believe you could start with a janitor? How about 3000 dollars per month? It must be a great income for you."
He approached Liam, placed a hand on his shoulder, his expression darkening.
"We look out for each other in this family, consider this an act of generosity towards you."
"Huh, that's interesting," Liam said with a calm smile.
"What is?" Carl tilted his head, puzzled.
"I won't be the janitor of Space Corporation, I'm actually here to take over as the new CEO of the company." Liam replied, his tone casual.
The moment those words left his lips, the entire hall burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Mia pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head, utterly embarrassed. At this point, she couldn't fathom why Liam was continuing with this farce.
Liam looked around again, nonplussed by their reaction. Everything he said was the truth; why didn't they believe him?
Carl shook his head, barely containing his amusement,
"CEO of what company? Losers Inc?" He mocked.
"You're pathetic," he said, shaking his head.
"You're so desperate to appear wealthy, you'd say anything just to get people to think you are, but all you are is a poor liar. Men like you disgust me." Carl sneered.
"I don't know where you got the news that we would have a new CEO, but the new CEO is supposed to be at the welcome banquet tonight, so why are you here?" He asked.
Liam shrugged, "I was supposed to attend the company's welcome banquet tonight, but I canceled it for dinner with all of you."
The room fell silent, though everyone seemed tired of hearing what they believed to be more of Liam's absurd claims.
Carl laughed loudly, glaring at Liam.
"Are you high?Mia...As your brother-in-law, I don't really suggest you to marry this...crazy person." Carl said, chuckling dryly.
To prove his words, Carl took out his phone.
He explained, "Even though I had no qualification to join this banquet, my supervisor, the vice-president would be on this banquet for sure."
He typed, "Sir, how was the banquet? Hope you enjoyed it. When could we meet our new CEO?"
Carl smiled confidantally, "See? Your lie will be exposed soon."
Saying this, Carl's phone buzzed. But when he saw the message, his smile was rigid.
"The banquet was canceled."

THE VENGEFUL HEIR Liam Was Right
As soon as Liam spoke, the room erupted in anger. It was one thing if he did not know how to heal Natalie, but what he was saying now was outright insulting.“Who the hell do you think you are to question Dr. Barret?” Michael snapped irritably, “Do you even know who he is?” “I think it’s time you leave since you’re just going to keep interfering with Dr Barret’s treatment.” He demanded coldly. Liam shifted his gaze across the room and was met with cold, annoyed looks. He shrugged and heaved a tired sigh. Over the years, he had cured thousands, but he had also seen hundreds of people die because they refused to trust him. As a healer, he couldn’t force his treatment on anyone. “Believe it or not, you are actually putting her life at risk by leaving her in the hands of that man.” He said his voice calm but resolute, and without waiting for a response, turned and walked out.“Get out!” Lisa roared with anger. However, just when Lisa roared, she heard a scream from a maiden."Madam...

If I had left this compound, your daughter would be dead before I could return.” Michael’s face crumbled with regret and fear. He broke down begging earnestly, the reality of his mistakes flashing before his eyes. “Young master, please forgive me. I didn’t know who you were. Heaving a tired sigh, Liam retrieved the phone wondering who could be calling at this time. Seeing it was Mia, he hesitated for a while and then answered. He had barely said hello before Mia’s annoyed voice sounded, “Listen, my grandfather has demanded that we register for our marriage first thing tomorrow morning. I’ve tried to talk him out of it and convince him that we don’t need to rush into it, but he won’t let up. So meet me at the registrar's office tomorrow morning, do not keep me waiting.” Liam hesitated for a while. He could tell from her tone that she did not want this marriage, but there was not much he could do. “Okay, I’ll be there.” “Does it not bother you?” Mia sharply interjected, her voice tinged with anger and frustration. “I mean you are about to enter a fake marriage with a complete

Suddenly the announcer yelled in excitement, “Ladies and gentlemen, I can’t believe it. Victor Carpi has set a new record. He’s the undefeated archery champion of the world!” Victor turned around, bowing gracefully to the cheers and applause from the crowd and then he spotted Yona and approached her with a smile. “Yona, Mia, I’m glad you could make it.” But just as he spoke, his eyes fell on Liam and immediately, the excitement on his face slowly faded. “So he’s here too.” “Yeah unfortunately so. Mia sat in the corner of the cold basement, now awake, her wrists bound, her head heavy. The walls around her pulsed with a faint red glow, like veins carrying something unnatural. Darius paced slowly in front of her, his face calm, and eyes fixed heavily on her. That eerie glow from the Ogini still lived inside him, and it was getting stronger.“You look tired,” he said with a soft smile, crouching in front of her. “This place drains you, doesn’t it?”She didn’t answer. Her eyes locked on him, full of fear but also something else, confusion and anger.Darius tilted his head, amused. “I don’t blame you for not trusting me. I wouldn’t trust me either. But I’m not your enemy, Mia. I’m just the one finally telling you the truth.”“Liam will come for me,” she said quietly, but her eyes carried the fire of a strong resolve.“I know,” Darius said with a grin. “That’s the plan.”He stood up and waved his hand. The room around them shimmered, and suddenly the walls fell away. Mia gasped as vi

Liam sat on the edge of the cot, staring at the cracked floor of the safe house. The silence felt heavy, like a warning. Deep in his gut, he felt it twisting like a knife.Evelyn paced nearby, her phone clutched tightly in her hand. “Still no answer,” she said, her voice laced with worry. “I’ve called her three times. Her phone rings but then stops.”Jack stood by the door, arms crossed. He looked from Evelyn to Liam, frowning. “Let me go check her place. Maybe she just needed space.”Liam didn’t look up. He barely moved, his head was already filled with anxious thoughts. What if it was already too late? What if Darius had turned her into one of the Ogini’s puppets? How would he explain any of this to Lord Steven? Jack waited for his response, and when he didn’t get it, he grabbed his coat and left without another word.Minutes p
Snatched in the Dark
After Mia left the safe house, she wandered along the edge of the city, her steps slow and heavy with emotion. The night was quiet, but her mind was loud—full of questions, hurt, and the echo of Liam’s cold words. She pulled her coat tighter as the breeze swept through the empty streets. She glanced at her watch and it was just a few minutes past ten. The streetlights flickered above her, casting long shadows on the cracked sidewalks. She didn’t know where she was going. She just needed to be anywhere but the safe house. Anywhere away from Liam’s distant stare and the feeling that she no longer belonged. She eventually came to a stop near an abandoned train station and with a slow soft exhale, she sat on a bench, the wood damp beneath her, and exhaled.“You don’t look like you belong here,” a voice said.Mia flinched, frightened and turned. A man had taken the seat beside her. He was dressed in dark clothes, hood half pulled over his head. His face was calm, his smile polite, but some
The Ashes of Victory
The van rumbled through the wrecked outskirts of the city, but no one spoke. Liam sat in the back, slouched against the wall, his body aching with every bump in the road. His shoulder was torn open, blood soaked into the gauze Evelyn had hastily wrapped around him. Across from him, Jack stared at the floor, jaw tight. Mara’s eyes were still glowing faintly from the battle, but her expression was blank. There was no celebration. No sense of victory. Only silence.Peter was gone. But the Ogini… the Ogini had found someone worse — Darius. When they finally pulled up to the safe house, it was still dark. The building stood quietly, unchanged since the morning they left—but everything felt different now. The team moved slowly, exhausted in body and spirit. Inside, the lights flickered on. The place was eerily quiet. Liam collapsed onto the worn-out couch, wincing as the pain in his ribs flared. Evelyn knelt beside him with a first-aid kit, gently peeling back the soaked bandage.“You shoul
The Rise of a New Villain
The air was thick with smoke and dust, filled with the remains of Peter’s fortress. The battle was over, or at least that’s what Liam thought. He leaned against a crumbled wall, blood streaked across his face, his body aching from the fight. Around him, the enhanced soldiers stood quiet, still catching their breath. For a brief moment, there was silence, peace. Or something like it. Then Darius stepped forward.Liam looked up and immediately felt something was wrong. Darius didn’t look like himself anymore. His eyes glowed with a strange, dark light. His skin was pale, almost gray, and thin black veins crawled across his arms like vines. Liam could see it clearly now, the power of the Ogini rippled off him in waves, thick and heavy. It had fully taken control of Darius. But Darius wasn’t acting possessed. He didn’t move like someone under control. He moved like a man who had finally found his purpose.“You feel it, don’t you?” Darius asked, voice deeper than before. “The power. It’s r
The Final Confrontation
Liam blinked his eyes slowly open. His head throbbed heavily and his vision was still blurry. For a second, he couldn’t remember where he was or how he got there. But then it all rushed back—Peter. The fight, the capture, the darkness. He tried to sit up, pushing through the dizziness. The air around him was heavy, like the weight of everything that had led to this moment had settled into the room. He looked around and realized he was deep inside Peter’s base. Cold walls, dim lights. The heart of the enemy’s lair. Then he heard a slow clap. Peter stood in front of him, arms folded, with a smirk stretched across his face.“Well, well,” Peter said, his voice calm but mocking. “Look who finally woke up.”Liam got to his feet, legs shaking but steady enough. He didn’t respond right away. He just stared at Peter, taking him in. This was it. The man who had caused so much pain. The man who chose power over everything else.Peter stepped closer, his eyes gleaming. “Still think you can win, L
Descent into Darkness
The atmosphere in the corridors of the base had changed. Liam moved silently through the main hallway, his eyes catching the flickers of red scanner lights, the whirring of automatic doors, the dull hum of the enhancement chamber far down the line. Evelyn’s words still pressed on him, but so was the weight of what he had to do.Darius had done the procedure on a few more volunteers from the Tribunal, and as Liam passed them, their faces were blank. Their eyes filled with chemical fire, but they also blank. One woman flinched as he passed, her arm twitching involuntarily like her muscles were trying to remember something human.Liam stopped right in front of her. Before now, she was a medic with warm eyes and a shy smile. Now her eyes were empty and dull. He didn’t even remember her name.He turned away, his heart sinking deeper than he’d admit to anyone. Each footstep he took weighed more than the last, and every face he passed was a reminder that the line had already been crossed—and
The Breaking Point
Liam stood outside the second warehouse, Jack’s voice still echoing in his ears.“You need to see it for yourself.”The lights flickered as he stepped inside the warehouse. The air was colder here, sterile. And there in the center of the floor was Mara, breathing heavily, hunched over, her muscles trembling.Darius stood beside her, smug and proud.“She’s ready,” he said with a grin that didn’t reach his eyes. “Fully enhanced. Stronger than any of the others. Her reflexes are beyond anything we’ve seen.”Liam stepped closer, eyes locked on Mara. Her pupils were dilated. She looked up slowly, her face contorted between exhaustion and fury.“Liam…” she said, voice strained. “Something’s… off. I can feel it.”“Nonsense.” Darius interjected dismissively, “You’re fine. You just need some time,” Darius said quickly. “The mind is adjusting to the body. It always takes a moment.”Mara suddenly twitched angrily. But before she could say anything else, a wrench fell from the top floor of the wa
Cracks in the Armor
Liam felt his heart skip as soon as he heard the gunshots and immediately, he dashed towards the table in the room and picked up his car keys rushing towards the warehouse with Jack closely behind him. However, just as they arrived, everything was still as if there was not an attack here moments ago. Silence fell over the warehouse, broken only by heavy breathing and the sizzle of a burning fuse on a demolished generator.“Everyone okay?” Liam called out as soon as he walked inside the warehouse.“I’m good,” Evelyn replied.“Mara too,” Darius added, shaken but unharmed.Jack nodded, checking his weapon. “That wasn’t a raid. It was a warning.”“Or a test,” Liam said darkly. “To see how ready we really are.”He looked around at the team—bruised, bloodied, but still standing. Then down at the device still in his hand. Victor’s message pulsed again, like a heartbeat.“He’s closer than you think.” causing Liam’s eyes to narrow. The warehouse was quiet now, too quiet. Only the occasional f
