Chapter 442

When Jackson looked left, his eyes melted into Avery’s and he let out what seemed like a gasp and quickly turned away.

“Did you say something?” Derrick turned to Avery.

“I don’t understand,” Avery mumbled with her eyes fixated on her lap. “I thought they all died in the blast.”

Jackson immediately rolled up the windows and stepped on the wheels right after the green light came on. Before Avery could take a second look at him, he was gone.

“Are you okay?” Asked a concerned Derrick. “You look shaken up.”

Avery rubbed her palms against each other vigorously. “I think I’m seeing things.”

Derrick sighed. “We are out of the traffic now.”

The car started to move. Avery shut her eyes and rested her back against the car seat. Derrick grabbed his jacket and wrapped it around her.

“Get some sleep. You’re tired.”
