Chapter 9: Royalty of the land below
Morning comes quickly after, with Blood Claw still sleeping from what drained him the night before. I strongly believe that this location has purposefully left no trace of mana in the air. The trees outside produce only rotten fruits, and the corrosion affects the entire community. Should I use a holy spell to turn this around? It will only blow our cover as travelers, but leaving will cause our tract to be left behind.
If I had used that artifact, the situation would not have been so dire. My authority does not extend to healing or wrapping reality, hence a high holy spell is required in this scenario. The magic "Gaia's votum" activates when I focus on people around me, and the corrosion outside fades away altogether. Crack alongside the wall, the livelihood improves as I pour more mana over it, but usage is rather low because I still can't utilize this spell.
Already learn by heart every spell in the library, including some that are so foreign that not even I can use them as the creator wishes. Such as this spell, which derives from the invocation of a long-forgotten deity of a foreign place, little is known about it, and even when the writer or pa is questioned, the origin changes from preceptive to preceptive. The only certainty is that it is derived from a different system than all of this world's species of mana, and that prayer, as it was similar but not quite known as "pure intention," as it stated, will not be deciphered any time soon.
Demons don't require a lot of energy from material food, do they? As Blood Claw has shown in the cave the previous two days, he does not appear to be hungry or in need of sustenance. The only time he exhibits concern is this morning when the mana is running low. As the condensed mana from the air returns to its original amount, he sleeps soundly.
As the innkeeper makes the wonderful berry pancakes, I go down to dine, and she serves me a dish as an "add-on service" reserved for exceptional visitors. The smell of being drowned in sugar rather than the few berries surrounding it; the flavor is not as horrible as the smell. I finish it only to discover the innkeeper bringing another.
"Will your dragon companion join us?" The innkeeper inquires, her sour face fixed on my empty dish as she carefully removes it.
"He is sleeping; you do not disturb him by doing unnecessary chores." I push the platter of fresh pancakes away, refusing to have another.
"OK, just checking." As the silence returns to the deserted inn, she removes the platter. The light advances slowly as it approaches noon, and customers walk up and down the inn. I merely stay and stare, waiting for prospective pursuers.
"Just so you know, the weather is perfect for a walk today." The innkeeper walks up to my table, holding a new cup of beer, and gives it to me as a complimentary. As soon as the alcohol enters my body, it is transformed into a bitter liquid similar to coffee. Its hallucination content is quickly being cleansed by this body's unique physic.
"I'm not sure what you're thinking; because my friend isn't here, it's best if you disclose what's on your mind." I set the alcoholic drink down on the table, thoroughly caught up in her play. Is it better if she drops it before I make her? Her demeanor would be too keen for an elderly human woman, lest she is a skilled warrior or a halfling.
"The structure of the magic you cast this dawn is so foreign. Were you a speculative traveler?" The innkeeper demonstrates her expertise in magic by waving her arms as if casting a spell. Keep an eye on my reaction to the most basic way of performing a spell in this land.
"I am one to some extent." "Since you're having fun, how about I have mine?" I respond reluctantly, but enough to pique her interest in theorizing.
"Of course, ask away." She washes the cup before serving fresh customers. Anyone entering would be tempted to relax their guard due to the mixed-race crowd and the friendly mood.
"Are you a halfling?" And you see through our deception, don't you?" Her disposition responded in the most non-chantant way conceivable.
"A customer is a customer, regardless of your history, as long as you keep it to yourself." Is that what you're suggesting, archangel?" She exposes those words by whispering because the secret is only meant to be shared between the two of us. She is wiser than anyone I know to pick up on such weird cues, and I have been careful not to give up too much.
"That is then an agreement. Oh, and if you happen to spill any." After finishing my drink, I proceed to the room. Her voice echoes through a form transmission spell as I walk down the corridor. She means no hindrance because she now confirms my intention to keep my secret.
"Don't worry; I intend to expand to the other side of the world as well." "I can't die so quickly." Those words were magically transferred to me, what a cheeky little thing she is.
Since I left the room for morning scouting, Blood Claw has been packing. The clothing is scattered throughout the room, indicating that he has initially avoided using sub-space magic; there are parchments and quills on the ground as well, suggesting that he must try to write a letter of recommendation because I decide to speed up the plan too soon. Coming over to the backpack that was placed in the corner of the room. There are a few pieces of child clothing, a small journal with a monocle attached, and a quill pen to make up the contents. The cover is stitched by a layer of cheap leather, and it looks nothing like the dark magic books in the library.
"Is this the new backpack you have prepared for me?" I inquire as I pick it up; the design is quite simple so that it does not attract thieves and bandits.
"It will be, I haven't finished packing it yet." Besides, I need to give the prince some room on that bag." Blood Claw sighs and says. This is not the first time he has had to carry his prince's bag.
"As a tribute, right?" I examine it throughout.
"You're guessing fast, Mikhail," His nods indicate confirmation.
"Would he teleport close to here or something?" The innkeeper has long been aware of the act of illusion, and I doubt she will be able to keep it quiet for us for long." The fact that even a halfling can see the spell I cast this morning concerns me. The elves, as angels' devotees, keep a close eye on each of us as we descend or perform miracles. They are especially annoying because they will not change their minds about learning. Even if I said something, it would all come out as forbidden knowledge because they were covering their knife ears. They are the epitome of what pa and ma expect from mortals below naive and treasure every word from their egoist's mouth.
"He said to meet you just outside the village because I insisted on your comfort." "Will your brother be here this soon?" Blood Claw pauses for a moment to ascertain my reaction.
"I can keep my promise that I will be able to handle him." He spends the rest of his time packing. I remain silent as the morning sun shines boldly down the window below. Why can't Pa think of a better escape route than this instead of raining his ridiculous wrath down on these helpless people?
As the sun sets in the sky above, I return the key to the innkeeper while Blood Claw goes out to buy something. I walk out to the village's side exit, this cloth he's chosen for me. The dirt-bound cloak inside, as well as the white dress that plays down the knee, barely covers the rest of my feet. Isn't Blood Claw on board with the pure maiden his prince fantasizes about?
The prince, dressed as a human bard, has been waiting for us. His disguised form is more consistent and detailed than Blood Claw ones. He was able to conceal the odor of pheromone if he possessed one. It's just a theory, but he's an ancient type of incubus descended directly from Lady Lilith, the mother of succubus. It is not my place to investigate at this time.
"It's time for you to seal the deal, little angel." The prince gives me a mischievous smile and a gentle one to Blood Claw. I am nothing more than a stand-in for his royal duty. It's fine, at the very least, to be close to my ideal life.
"I know, my lord, let us depart," I reply in a monotone voice.
Before the teleport is finished, I feel a surge of bloodthirst directed at me...no, at them. Are they too preoccupied with the spell to notice? In any case, it was quickly dismissive once the spell was finished. 'Saudade,' a new land appears before my eyes.
---------------------------------¯---------------------------------
I've lost them as easily as they've taken my brother away. I shouldn't have slept on that day; it should have been just a short nap, but it turned into a full day's rest. I'll never be able to forgive myself unless I bring Mikhail back. Figures of demons, incubuses, and tanarukks are quite a rare pair, but the land of lust has long been in collaboration with the land of wrath, and those are common enough not to raise an eyebrow because both of them lack the title "lord." They are not royalty too because Ars Goetia's replica has not responded to them.
Should I have taken him back from that street last night or from the inn this morning? Mikhail has a tender soul because he dislikes blood and would not put his hand in the blood of any of the demon's victims. Their response has been poisoning, promising forbidden knowledge...no, he has said nothing is forbidden except for one body to handle. He couldn't have been brainwashed that easily, could he?
Please, Mikhail, wait for me. As this little brother will not give up on saving you, regardless of which blood this spear is drowning in. The god's spear, I swear on my name and title.
The sun is already high in the sky... He should have been calling by now. Speaking of the devil, he has already received the message.
"Have you discovered it yet?" Azazel's voice can be heard on the other end of the transmission.
"Fourth, I have found my brother." You don't need to prepare the army just yet." "I will take back my brother," I assure him.
The end

Chapter 10: SaudadeThe kingdom is surrounded by a stone-cold wall that acts as a vast barrier. There is no barrier to insight; it is simply a stone wall. The kingdom's size is nothing more than a few villages banding together to build a castle uphill and form royalty from a single family. The marketplace is the only distinguishing feature of the kingdom. The marketplace is the most active around the seamless row of worn-down houses.Demons of all kinds swarm here, from incubus and imp to gorgon and tanarruk. Life was never recorded before, nor was it ever worth recording. According to one of my authorities, this cannot be unarchived; otherwise, I am not the archangel of knowledge. As I am filled with curiosity, emotions like bubbles burst out in chains. Before I know it, the prince has fixed his gaze on my plight."We've arrived, little angel... My! Your reaction surprised me because it came so quickly. You weren't kidding about their fondness for bards." As I cover my face with the
Chapter 11: Preparation "I hope I don't startle you, sir advisor, as the prince's new recruit." I bow my head because I see this custom during greetings between others. So this is an act of respect, isn't it? Advisor sighs with relief, grooming himself back to the throne room's façade. "Isn't it the prince's equal?" As I suspect, you are not accustomed to royalty. Keep your head held high so that you do not tarnish his name." He then constructs mana as telekinesis to move the parchments and scrolls to their proper location on the bookshelf. The amount of mana dispersed to each object was perfect, with none being overfilled. "Any beverage to your liking?" It's already night, but I'm not sure if the angels need to sleep. The fact that you are here and not with the military minister suggests that you are exploring your new home or that you are specifically interested in this room.' "A cup of tea would be preferable to putting the words in my mouth." The demon flinches at my retort; h
Chapter 12: First Dawn Dawn is approaching the horizon. My mind deteriorated after spending the night in the royal office. The knowledge is acceptable because not much can be expected from the kingdom that is being devoured by the flames of war. Since incubus and succubus are the main residents here, famine is expected for the weak who are unable to travel; however, commerce has been thriving despite the slowly drawn-out residents. Morning arrives, and Blood Claw must have been awake for quite some time. I'll be right over to greet him. I was so careless not to inquire about the location of his chamber; there must be someone awake at this time as well. I doubt it would be the prince because he prioritizes his "nightlife" over getting up early. Where is the royal library? I should meet with the librarian when the doors open. The library should be the last room in the west hallway; it's early in the morning, so the corridor is as empty as it can be... But isn't it a little too quiet?
Chapter 13: Meeting at noon The meeting section as the table is being transformed by the advisor to become longer, and the seat is to be customized to each individual. My seat is still decorated with black rose and gold, such as queen or consort, and it is placed beside Kryos, as it was in the throne room. The two ministers bring out a pile of papers of each their own, as does the dark bishop, but it is far less than what the two bring. Kryos has also brought some, leaving me and Blood Claw empty-handed. "In what order should we begin today?" Advisor asks if there is anything important, to which the three shake their heads, and Kryos says to call him off last. Blood Claw remains silent, taking no action. I am the same but for a different reason. Of restlessness due to the unfamiliarity of the situation. "Well, then, we'd proceed as usual, with the exception of the prince being last this time." I suppose I'll summon the high bishop to solicit church donations." "In the last month or
Chapter 14.1: Something wrongThe harsh sun shines on wretched land, cracking red stones scattered across the empty field; I've never seen such a deplorable environment. If it hadn't been for the constant pouring of mana, this place would have been dessert. If you judge what this has to offer, it could feed a thousand soldiers. This place is still compact, but how come there is still a food shortage? When the agriculture minister concentrates his mana on the cultivating instrument, the earth soften spell is cast, and the cracking ground softens and becomes rich. He scatters each seed onto the ground with his hand, one by one. The seedling becomes an edible vegetable after about 10 minutes of being fully imbued with mana. By the end, he picks the vegetable by hand as each drains the ground mana, and the earth crackles again. At the end of my gathering, it would take a caster a quarter-hour to grow and gather a small field of mana-filled vegetables; which is arguably inefficient and use
Chapter 14.2: Mistaken Past, Consequential Future[After the meeting, Kryos’s point of view]Shouldn't I have something at that point? I've already blown that opportunity, so there's no point in crying over spilled milk. Bringing Eugen into this is the only way to put out this dumpster fire. How long will that "uncle" of mine keep making those pointless complaints? We can barely feed ourselves under this year's harsher sun, but he demands more and more tribute, claiming that their women and children are dying. Shouldn't they have kept their festive spirit a little lower last winter? What a headache I'm in, at least Eugen has brought someone along to cover my ruling for me, those "subordinates" of my late father always bothering me with unnecessary appeals, what's the worth of a fallen royal like our family that would impact hell?Needless to say, Eugen has found someone capable of doing my job; if they so desire, I can relinquish the ephemeral glory of a prince. Their meeting speech m
Chapter 15: Common EnemyWouldn't it be too soon? The night is approaching, and he has already called me on it... Would it be far from here to the north border? I should consult with someone about it. The palace is eerily quiet at night, save for the demons who are rumored to be creatures of the night or that belong to vampires. There was no one to be seen outside of their quarter. Is there anyone there as the night torch in front of the office turns greenish blue? What a unique system they have, which I have glossily overlooked due to how inefficiently one's mana is used to forget how majestic the cover they wear... What was I thinking? I'm getting absorbed in nothing again; if someone was in the office, it had to be the advisor, right? The figure drops the book it is holding after unexpectedly opening the door. The hard book was the result of a knock on the floor. I can't see anything but the blurred figure in front of me because the light didn't reach my eyes completely when I ente
Chapter 16: Vanquish evilAfter those tall pine trees, Kryos stands to fight the "ancient evil," as the imp put it, while Blood Claw holds on to himself because he is surrounded by snakes. The situation is far too depressing for this kingdom's royalty. Is it necessary for me to step in for a simple gorgon? It would not have come to this pitiful state if he had followed the instructions and become a "king."In the midst of the fierce battle, an arrow grazed my face and passed through the pine tree. The soldier was alerted to "ancient evil" by blood drops on the gentle snow. I can't stand it any longer, can I? The snake approaches my location, 'hypnosis' as I conceal its unconscious body at my location."I'm not going to put up with that kind of crowding in my presence." Roaring, the gorgon hurls his spear at me, knocking over the pine tree in front of me in the process. Though it hasn't even come close to reaching me, it has prompted me to cast a defensive spell. 'Barrier' as my sudden
Chapter 47: Slept daze“Gabriel, you are here. I am not in the place again, right?” This shouldn’t be true, I need to wake up from here. These fulfilling dreams are not of my own but also his, why does he appear here or perhaps this isn’t Aeterna but another cage that Sariel build for me?Trying to recall what my last memory was, Matasyn had made a foolish wish that cause a thousand lives to be traded for mine. And then I made a contract with God…The horn is still here so it means it’s been true, God has made quite a cruel joke for me to wake up like this.“It seems that waking up at this time is too soon for you. Another month or year for you to comprehend things, Mikhail.” Gabriel smiles strangely, his expression is quite mature looking somehow. Time has passed quite much or at least the world set to be.“Be straight with me, Gabriel. Did my escape come undone?” I ask hastily,
Chapter 36.2: Something new, everything changeCollocatione: a well-known spell that is used by demons and angels, others don’t use it and use the lesser version known as ‘wrap’. There are two ways to use the spell, either by great knowing the place's structure and texture like the coordinates or just recalling the memories that you remember of that place.Wrap: a spell using estimation from eye length to teleport. Low succession chance and doesn’t account for height differences so it’s dangerous for those who first use it as they will fall head first from the sky. The only reason to use it is low mana situations or quick-time battles.De Amia: well there is nothing to be said of this. It’s somewhat higher than ‘cure’ but lesser in the healing than ‘cure’. I never go forth with dark magic study so I can’t use any normal healing spells on demons so this spell that use to exchange l
Chapter 46.1: Lost and Found[Gabriel’s pov]As the sun sets on our world, darkness descends upon us once again. Despite our triumphs over countless obstacles, Uriel seems immune to the vanishing of the traitor’s alliance she once put her trust in.Our agreement is tethered to my brother’s existence as the final hope, but the weight of recent tragedies has shattered it into a thousand pieces. Memories of an oracle once dismissed as insignificant, now loom large in our minds in times of despair sowed. The fragility of our situation is all too apparent as we grapple with the consequences of our actions. Jeremiel's once steadfast demeanor has become increasingly troubled since learning of Lambert's sacrifice. The weight of our shared vulnerability has left a visible mark on Jeremiel's countenance. As the chaos continues to unfold, my thoughts turn to the well-being of our fellow allies. In this uncertain wor
Chapter 45: God’s blessingAs my consciousness slowly returned, I was engulfed in a suffocating darkness that seemed to seep into my very soul. The last thing I remembered was the fatal blow from Azazel, as I valiantly tried to protect Matasyn from his wrath. Had that treacherous hound decided to let go of Matasyn and return to report to his master after he killed me? But where was I now? This place was unfamiliar, and it wasn't the realm between life and death that I had heard of. The realm's voice that usually whispered in my ears was eerily silent as if all its memories had been erased. As I looked around, my heart sank as I realized that I was not alone. The emerald-tinted surroundings were teeming with countless formless souls, swirling around aimlessly in a never-ending abyss. Their presence was suffocating and cold, their existence devoid of any rationality or purpose. They were like lost souls, condemned to roam this desolate realm
Chapter 44.3: Last farewell to the past‘adponon’: a spell that pinpoints the location of a group creature. The command can vary from the numbered individuals ex: “The second to last soldier of the third row” to a specific individual ex: “Kryos Asmodeus”. The mana consumption varies to the difficulties of the search as well.‘typhoon’: one of the five spells from the series of [‘apocalypse’]. Summon a cluster of whirlpools that tear apart airborne creatures in the area of effect. The omen of wind comes with the subtraction of the sky from the second day of creation.‘Genisis flood’: one of the five spells from the series of [‘apocalypse’]. Start the warning of a horn to summon the endless water of those creatures who dwell only on land. The omen of water comes to
Chapter 44.1: Burning down speciesTerra’s stalactite: There are two forms of this spell, the earth form collect the mineral from the ground and pierce them into spear-like terrain, and the water form collects mineral from liquid and create spikes that shot at a destination. The spell requires a large amount of concentration it’s more advisable to use the earth form.Truth’s twister: The authority belongs to the fallen sepharim Lucifer, it has dimensional and time-twisting prosperity and runs on the user karma. Thus the more probability it takes to fulfill the wish, the more karma it causes in the user's life. If one inherited this authority rather than Lucifer himself, there are much more limitations as hierarchy and mana usage. The star that charmed all: The authority belongs to the fallen sepharim Lucifer, the affected victims can’t take their focus off the user and will do everything to win the user’s favor. Interlude 1: Around the RosemaryThe sun had just risen, ushering in a new day, and I knew that the library awaited me. I dressed in my most comfortable suit - a pair of black pants and a white shirt - and made sure not to forget my library card before leaving my room. "Kris, Gene. I am going out. Do you want anything?" I called out but was met with silence. They must have already left for work, I thought to myself. It was unusual for Kris to be up and out so early.I decided to brew myself a cup of earl grey tea, which filled my senses with its fresh aroma. As I sipped on my tea, I couldn't help but wonder how my roommates could stand that industrial coffee. Mocha or latte always made me feel too full after just half a cup.Living near my workplace gave me the luxury of enjoying breakfast at a leisurely pace. It was just half past seven, and the library would open at eight. I knew I had to leave before the streets got too crowded. I made a few
Chapter 42: Necessary babbling[Gabriel’s Pov]“Gabriel! Where are you now?” Shouting the voice irritated from the end of the hallway, just I finally disconnect the bond between me and my brother. Up until lately, Mikhail has been popular with the known “traitorous archangel”. Such a thing to be opposed to Mikhail and his lighted mercy. At first, I recall having heard he would have sacrificed me by putting me to sleep comfortably, which is too merciful of him on the enemy against his ideal and yet again I find it grateful that he always has a place for this abandoned brother.I do not blame him, that is for certain because that is what Mikhail deserves to have. For that guilt and hurtfulness in our “childhood”. I am forever grateful even if it is for just a moment. I always wish to embrace him in his smaller form.“Gabriel!” Camael brags in my room as the door collapses
Chapter 41.2: Goodbye my dear[Zadkiel/Matasyn POV]“Lambert, I think that is enough. The robe won’t shine anymore, it has been almost a thousand years after all.” The giant keeps on gentle caress my old white robe, it’s useless after all. If the youths haven’t been so demanding, my plan would have been so easily done.Poisoning Rose with a living creature she loved, the younger one said it was too cruel so I have to change something that causes more “resistance” effect. How hypocritical that one is, to call the same method that it used to cause the death of my “dearest brother” to compare to mine as cruel. The homunculus is really something to be fearful of, it single-handedly executed that sacrilegious inquisitor and swing the high elf priestess to its side with little effort. Not having witnessed its battle wholely, I still can’t comprehend what kind of gift it
