Teras: the deadly game of cards

The 4 deities

The next day came, Teras just woke up with the pain of his wounds nearly disappeared, the birds were singing a song full of happiness, the maids of Tokkou were already cleaning and tidying his mansion, when Teras got out of the bed he felt hungry, the only thing he had eaten were the berries he found on the forest he was when he woke up, he couldn't help but get lost so he went to Tokkou's room, because it was the only room he knew on the mansion, he opened the door in surprise because he found the room clean and tidy, it was like the first time he saw, even the hole on the wall was almost perfectly fixed, the only thing that was missing was Tokkou, the person he was trying to find

'This is a really big house for a single person like Tokkou'

he thought to himself, Teras then decided to head outside, surprisingly Tokkou was enjoying a nice hot cup of tea in the back yard of his home

"Tokkou what are you doing this early in the morning?"

"What does it looks like? I'm relaxing, you know people like me have little to no time for themselves so when I get some free time I like to do things that I enjoy, without having brats like you disrupt me"

Tokkou said in a casual tone

"Well you said you would tell me about the world, so when is this going to happen?"

"Calm down kid, it's 9 o'clock just relax and enjoy the morning breeze you have the whole day in front of you, as I said I have a day off so you don't have to worry about time"

"If you say so then I will wait, but there is something else I want to ask you about, How did your room got cleaned up so fast? it looked like a war happened inside of it last time I saw it"

Teras asked

"Haven't you seen the number of maids I have? Do you think I pay them for nothing? and in my defense, I helped a lot too!"

"I get that but I'm talking about the crack on the walls, surely they couldn't fix it in a day regularly right?"

Teras thought that Tokkou tried to hide something from him but in reality, it was obvious from the start

"The powers of the cards helped, of course, no regular people can fix such a damaged building  that fast"

he replied

"So which card did they use for the wall?"

he asked in an attempt to make Tokkou reveal him the truth

"Kid we went over this, is way too early to explain to you everything about the world so shush"

he said as he was moving Teras with his ability, once Teras was moved into the house he decided to ask a maid for something to eat since his stomach wouldn't stop growling, the maid had already prepared something for Teras, boiled eggs, Teras ate them quickly and then decided to go on Tokkou's office again, once he arrived in the room he closed the curtains and tried to sleep again, he did this just so time passed faster and he could get the information he wanted. After a while Teras woke up, he slept  for roughly 2 hours, Teras then quickly ran to the backyard, Tokkou haven't moved an inch

"What are you still doing here? I can't keep on waiting for you!!"

Teras was really mad at Tokkou for wasting 2 hours just to drink some tea

"What's the big deal kid? I said I will tell you later, so screw off would you?"

"Stop treating me like a stupid child, I have lost my memory, I am in a place I don't know, in a town I don't recognize and a have no idea what to do to secure a safe place for me, to gain the power to protect and to prevent myself from dying, how can you be so careless, the only thing I want from you is to tell me what can I do to achieve this privilege"

Tokkou's face got serious fast, he didn't expect a kid like Teras to think about the future like this

"So where do you wanna start from Teras?"

"I want you to start from the kingdoms of the world"

"Okay then, there are 4 kingdoms the Heart, Clover , Diamond and Spade each kingdom is special in every way, weather , power , environment etc, for example here at Heart kingdom its basically hot all the time and the place is full of tall trees so they can cool down the land, in Heart kingdom our fighting style is different too , we have a more defensive fighting style, the Clover kingdom is a more windy and cold place, it also has a lot of exotic fruits there and they usually have more average mana than the other kingdoms, the Spade kingdom is a really green place with a lot of flowers but it has its deserts here and there, also they fight more aggressively than the others and finally the Diamond kingdom is a cold place with a lot of mountains and snows, they posses a pretty balanced amount of mana and with a really mechanical type of fighting style, each kingdom has it's own king and queen and a jester whose role is to be like a agent of multiple uses like fighting, negotiating and more, also in the middle of the world lays the land that all kingdoms share, the land is called the Midland, in this area you can find the high king and high queen that is the place I work too, that's all you need to know about the kingdoms"

Teras mind was a bit fried but he kind of understood it 

"Tell me about the cards, what are they?"

"So the cards are the source of power in this world, there are special schools that teach you how to use the power of cards properly, a person can use 3 different power of the cards but he can only possess one and if he posses one card he can't use any other power again"

"What does it mean to posse a card? and what are all the cards that exist?"

Teras said

"There are 14 cards in general, like a normal desk of cards, the 2,3,4 etc and there are also the special ones like the ace, the jack, the queen and the king, every card gives you a specific power like strength and speed"

"I want you to explain them with precision"

he insisted, Tokkou seeemed very annoyed by Teras

"Keep in mind that every card increases the mana pool of its possesor, the ace can manipulate the darkness as he desires, 2 is super strength, 3 gives you super speed, 4 is weapon mastery basically you can use the swords and spears like a master ,5 is electricity mastery, 6 is fire mastery, 7 is water mastery,  8 is earth mastery, 9 is air mastery,10 teleportation power, the jack is the card I posses and as I told you yesterday gives you the power of telekinesis, the queen can manipulate light, and finally the king can shoot out lasers and increases mana pool by a lot"

"Are you forgetting something? you told me there are 14 cards you only told me about 13"

"oh the 14th card is a myth"

Tokkou said as he was clinging his hands

"if I remember correctly it's the joker, right?"

Teras asked

"Yes indeed it is the joker,  there is only one person that was recorded to have the card of Joker, his name is unknown so we call him "The Joker", there are limited people that have seen Joker and survived because there were rumors that Joker in the past was a maniac, murdering people, causing chaos, destroying kingdoms, he could do everything and no one could stop him, he was a beast unable to be controlled, the only person that put an end to The Joker was the game master, which is rumored to possess every card from ace to king"

"If he possesses all the cards how do you have the jack?"

"It is said that he has a different set of cards than us, that he can do what we do but better"

"Then how can the kings exist if he roams this earth?"

Teras asked confused

"The kings are controlling the people, the high king are controlling the kings and the high king is being controlled by the game master that's how the system works"

"So we are all slaves to the system"

he said with a cold voice

"Everybody is a slave to someone"

Tokkou responded, after a brief moment of silence Teras asked

"You told me something about mana earlier what is it"

"Oh mana is a source of energy that all living things use in everyday basis, but if you can control it and use it for your benefits then it can be used as a dangerous weapon plus is fairly easy to learn and hard to master so if you want to start from somewhere I recommend you to start from mana"

"Then can we start soon?"

he said in excitement

"If you want to learn you have to wait, so I can find a maid to teach you"

"Your maids are experienced in a lot of subjects, it really surprises me to be honest"

"Well they serve a card possessor and most spesificly the Grand Jack so its the least you can expect, anyways I'm going to tell a maid named Becka, she will be in this backyard around 7 o'clock in the afternoon so don't be late, this is the only time I'm gonna help you, so use this time wisely" 

he said as he was flying to a place he had to go

'Since I'm here might as well find something to do in this town'

then Teras took Tokkou's sword with him and exited the house and began to take a walk in the town, he found some interesting places but all and all he thought it was a plain town with its shops and bars, nothing unusual, but what was the usual for him? he thought as he was relaxing on a bench near a shop before he could think more a stray bunny with a horn on its head approached him

"What are doing here all alone buddy? did you got separated from your mother?"

he asked, he didn't really expect an answer but he was still sad because the bunny was just passing by and wasn't heading toward him, he shrugged it off and decided to go on a walk again, so he could memorize the streets, after some time of walking he sun was beginning to set so he decided to head back, he went through an alley because he figured that it was a shortcut to Tokkou's mansion, as he was walking he saw 3 adults, abusing an animal, it was the bunny he saw earlier

"What are you doing you bastards!!!?"

Teras screamed at them

"Is there a problem friend?"

said the buffest person out of the 3

"Why are you doing this to a poor animal? it didn't do anything to deserve it, did it?

he said as he was staring deep into the man's eyes

"Look kid if you don't want this to end badly for you and for the animal just walk away"

he said with a smug on his face, Teras pulled the sword out of its sword case

"You don't want to do this kid"

"Oh you don't know how much I want to"

he replied with a smile on his face, the man then pulled out his dagger and swung it  at Teras's face, Teras easily blocked it and disarmed the man

'What is with this sword? it feels like I have done this for ages'

Teras was confused about the fact that the sword fitted perfectly with his fighting style, the buff man was shocked ,when the others saw what Teras did to their leader they were discourage

"Leave the bunny alone and runaway from here and we forget that ever happened"

Teras said to them, they agreed but Teras was fooled, as soon as he passed the leader he attempted to strike him from behind, in a flash, Teras dodged the strike and hook kicked him to the ground, it caught everyone by surprise, Teras didn't know how he did it too

'is it instinct?'

he thought, but no instinct could affect somebody like that, Teras was really light weighted and the man was very buffed, he biologically can't do that, he thought, the 2 men quickly picked up the unconscious man and ran away, Teras was still shocked at the fact that he defeated the man in one kick but he couldn't afford to worry, he quickly took the injured bunny with him to Tokkou's place hoping that a maid could help the poor animal, he rushed to the back yard where he had a meeting with the maid Becka

"Becka come quickly I have to help him"

he said in a panic, Becka was a bit confused but she figured out what she had to do quickly

"Place him down, I can help him"

Teras did what he was told, Becka's hands emitted a green light and the bunny was slowly getting healed, few seconds passed and the bunny was as good as new but it fell asleep

"Thank you so much!"

he said while kneeling down on his knees

"Stand up kid you have a lot to learn, oh and kid for you it's Ms. Becka, if you call me Becka again I'm going to cut this tongue of yours, got it?" 

"Yes ma'am!"

"Good, now come with me I will take you to hell"

she said with a sweet smile that scared Teras
