Three hours flashed by in a blink of an eye. At the same spot, the four regrouped again with mixed feelings over their faces. They didn’t find an empty table so they chose to walk randomly as they started to exchange their knowledge.
“Do you know which city we are at right now?” John started the talk with this question. His face revealed how surprised and how deeply conflicted he was about what he heard back there.
“This is Washington Dc, right?” Gina replied with no interest, however John added at once:
“It’s not just any normal city, it’s the capital of this country.”
“What?!” Dan exclaimed out loud with surprise before adding, “isn’t the capital our city, Los Angeles city?”
“See? I told you he will react like an idiot as always,” Laiyla said with a chuckle.
“Who is the idiot? Anyone who hears that would be like me, admit it you two were shocked as well,” Dan said with a defensive tone.
“We were shocked indeed, but we didn’t show that silly expression of yours,” John said teasing his friend before adding, “What did you two discover? The most shocking secret?”
Dan and Gina exchanged looks before they showed an evil smile. It was their turn now to tease the other couple, so Dan cleared his throat before saying:
“Do you know there is a space settlement out there on Mars?”
“You refer to the failed project of Genesis, right? Everyone knows about this Dan,” Laiyla replied instantly with a mocking smile over her face.
“No, you two are wrong. it isn’t a failed project at all, and its name isn’t Genesis,” Dan said with confidence and pride that weren’t part of his usual character.
“What do you mean it isn’t a failed project?” John asked with doubt and interest.
“When we went there, we watched an online broadcast on TV where the two candidates were debating and quarreling with each other. In this debate, the chipped person named Gary promised to settle the conflicts between the Earthians and the Martians humans, even if he had to use force to do it.
While the non-chipped candidate, named William, promised to keep the current peaceful relations with Martians. He also promised to start more trade routes with Martians.
So we got interested in those Martians and began to look for more info regarding them until we stumbled upon a documentary video speaking about the Martians' history, and guess what we found?” Dan said with a silly wide smile of his which always appeared when he solved any difficult math equation.
“Just say it, we surrender,” John knew his friend best, so he was sure Dan had figured out something no one would imagine. So, the best thing to do was to do nothing or else he would always brag about this for a long time.
“No imagination at all, I told you they would never imagine what we found,” Dan started to brag even without saying anything. Laiyla and John just sighed, they had to suffer this brag for the next hours, which was better than suffering it for a few days or even weeks!
“Ok, enough suspense and stop squeezing them,” Gina seemed to play on the same track as Dan, which made the other two annoyed with this.
After all they had enough with one Dan.
“Fine, I will tell and explain as always. I told you they can’t know a thing without me,” Dan mockingly said.
“That’s enough, I will leave,” John suddenly said as he was about to move away.
“Stop, stop, I was just kidding you know,” Dan hurried to say before John started to move.
“Then say what you know or just shut the hell up!” John angrily said.
“Ok, I will speak… What we found was that the first travels to Mars were on the board of Genesis ships, but life there wasn’t sustainable, until a brilliant scientist thought of something crazy and since then everything changed.
This scientist had a theory to change Mars into another earth, by using the waste and polluted products of earth and moving them into Mars. He created machines to harvest pollution and toxic products, then used some technology to make these things changeable.
He did some complicated math equations so when he released his modified pollutants, they interacted with each other and created fertile soil and thick protective atmosphere.
Everything started from the soil, that was the base of his theory. Gravity, climate, gases, nutrients, and every single bit of nature that supported life was birthed from soil.
So when he did so, he strangely succeeded in what others called madness. That made Mars a suitable place to inhabit, and from that moment on many humans began to flood there and live happily without the burdens of stressful life here.
There was no pollution at all, no lack of jobs, no need to do crimes, everyone was living the dream, the human dream out there. so Mars was called Eden, the new life, the beacon of humanity, hope, and many other positive names.
All that happened parallel to the rise of the technology here, and that created a conflict with the interest of those who owned these technologies. So, there is a huge battle going on between the chipped and non-chipped people regarding Eden.
Eden had a rule to prohibit chipping, as there was no need to stress over the human body like that. There were endless opportunities there, and so the chipping companies were pissed and they were trying to stir up trouble between the two planets.
They used the political separation between Eden and Earth as an excuse to try and start an all out war, however that didn’t succeed as Eden already had indomitable support from the masses,” Dan slowly explained everything he found out about Eden.
“So they are now trying to push a chipped president to take charge of everything here, so they could rage wars as they like,” Laiyla said.
“That’s disturbing, especially if we already know there is no mention of Eden in our time. Was it destroyed? Was this the cause of the calamity?” James muttered as he thought of this dilemma.
Dan had more to say as he added:
“That’s not all, we also found some disturbing rumor regarding chipping personnel,” he then looked towards Gina with concerned eyes as she nodded for him to continue, “the chip had side effects, like loss of memory, the effects over fertility, and even some say that whoever controls the technology can manipulate the chipped individuals like puppets in his hand.”
John and Laiyla were shocked of these new info, and both of them simultaneously looked at Gina when John said while pointing towards her with doubt and anger:
“You…you knew this from the beginning.”
Gina understood why he was feeling like that as she said:“Yes I knew, but would you believe me if I told you so? You needed to know by yourselves, not to be taught and deny the truth.” This sound came loud and clear, and the most important thing was that it was directed to them. the four instantly turned to look at who spoke, to find a twenty-five, twenty-six years old lady standing at the entrance of that abandoned street. She wasn’t alone, but that wasn’t the big issue. John’s eyes widened as he cursed those weak witted students and their stupidity. Now this mad lady was thinking they were the apocalypse, or at least related to it.“We aren’t here to do you any harm, we are here for a field trip, that’s all,” John tried to evade answering this topic as he tried to start ano
In the future, at the time when all the youths came from, there were a series of developments which started by the discovery of the new date of one of the three missions launched by the Drill. The discovery was made by the main CPU when it was undergoing regular check after the launch. “Simply put we are here, and our bodies are just invisible by being in another dimension. So that headache might be due to the interruption between this world and the quantum world,” Dan muttered while totally ignoring his friend like he wasn’t even here.“Yes, that’s the theory,” Sara said.
Sara then opened the door, entered the long corridor ahead of them as the four followed suit. Once they crossed the corridor, they started to meet many others along the way, where they just nodded in greeting to Sara, with an obviously stressful reaction over their faces. They were like they met a monster, someone out of their league. The slapping did the job as the four were knocked out of their trance feeling like a cold bucket of water was just poured over their faces. They stood up, in a hurry and panic, to look around in suspicion and doubt. However there was no one there except for Sara, who stood a couple of steps away from them, holding her hands together in a
The room was looking smaller from the outside. When they entered it, they were astonished to discover it was three big rooms opened together with some new, yet fascinating design. The intersection walls were cut to one third only, covered with strange shaped rocks in some parts, and different types of woods on others. The color of the wa
Once her words finished, the five heard a series of clicking sounds, followed by the fall of the metallic cover of the central pillar, heavily ranging on the ground in a very loud series of bangs.“What is this?!” Sara exclaimed in shock as the rest was also feeling the same. They approached that pillar, which appeared to be a huge glass container, full of fluid, with a body sleeping inside, so peacefully like she was sleeping in her own dorm.
The five exchanged silent glances, and before even saying anything to each other, or even getting over the shock they already had, that girl continued talking:“I know you might be surprised, but that’s what I learnt from my grandfather, one who claimed to come from the time of the future. He was once part of a resistance group, called the Trojans. To be honest, I never heard of it before, but I know for sure that he was telling the truth, becau
The place they descended to was another hall, but this hall wasn’t similar to the halls they went to before. This hall was like a hidden lab, with many tubes and bottles, covered in dust and dirt, without any signs to be touched for ages. The sides of this hall was lined by a metallic table, as the metal itself was starting to get
The group moved, each in separate directions, trying to understand what was the importance or significance of this place, other than being another part of the bunker. John was already depressed, so he sat on the couch, with Laiyla jumping into his embrace. She leant her body on his chest, before her two little lips moved to, very gently and softly, touch him. “I have unlocked it, be ready to step back,” Dan yelled, as he hurriedly opened the thick and heavy door, and held it. The first to enter was Sara, then followed by Gina, then Laiyla, and finally Dan and John entered together before letting the door closed. The place they entered was, strangely, another tunnel. It was long, dReaching A Dead End
The damaged parts of the machines were thrown here and there around Laiyla, who once cleared the tunnel from them, started to realize what happened. The 50: Post AI Apocalypse
The four didn’t spare any effort in running using their maximum speed, however they lost track of the machines from the beginning, and yet they couldn’t see a glimpse of them even after their travel for ten minutes inside the tunnel. They just exchanged solemn silent looks each now and then, as this tunnel was deeper than theJohn Wasn't the Only One
The shockwave after the explosion was great, and the cloud of thick dust and rubbles was expanding rapidly, involving him and the tunnels attached to here. Just as he coughed repeatedly, the cleansing ventilation system here worked, to show its great proweress, cleaning everything inside the hall.“Cough cough… I didn’
Henry ran forward without even turning once to check on them. He thought himself as a survivor, lamenting their bad luck and stupidity that would end their lives in vain like this.He just reached the wide hall, where he once reigned supreme over this whole bunker.
