Chapter 1 - Betrayal

The Merck family was debating something.

"Are you certain about the finding?"

"Yes, sir, we are absolutely sure about it. If it succeeds, there will be no need to fear anyone. We will have the ability to teleport without gateways. "

An old man looked at them. He was deep in thought. It seemed tempting, but the timing was terrible.

"If it's worth the risk, let's do it," suggested an older man named Marko.

The Merck family made a technological breakthrough. They discovered a way to teleport from a specific distance to a location by using a small device the size of a watch and pressing the button that transports you to an unknown faraway place. It's a defence mechanism because it allows you to flee if you're alone and under attack.

However, it has yet to be tested, and the Chain is causing too many problems for Merck, so if it only helps Chain gain more allies, it will not be worth it.

But who doesn't want to see themselves grow in power? The Mercks were no different. They decided to do it quietly, and today is the day.

Everyone is excited and nervous at the same time. After the ancestors discover gateways, this will be the second-largest achievement.

Although they were all excited, no one was willing to take the risk. How could someone put their lives in danger for an experiment?

So Mr Mark, the head of the research facility, decided to give it a shot by himself. Everyone understood that arguing with him was pointless because he was a stubborn and insane individual. Once he's made up his mind, nobody can stop him. That is also why the Merck family advanced so quickly.

It's the first time Little Mark has seen his father perform an experiment. He's ecstatic not because the trials were carried out by his father but because it offers him hope. He has an ailing older sister. They couldn't find a treatment for her, even with advanced technology.

So her father searched everywhere for a cure for her and eventually learned that fairies reside in a faraway galaxy. The fires also hold a miraculous medicine that can cure any sickness. As a result, he became obsessed with research. Junior Mark is his nickname since he often strives to imitate his father. His ambition was to follow in his father's footsteps as a scientist and find a cure for his sister. He had come to observe the experiment.

With this watch in hand, people can go on space exploration without fear of becoming trapped; the most frightening aspect of exploring unknown space is becoming trapped. Who wouldn't want to be able to flee by simply pressing a button? People will begin to take greater risks, giving him more opportunities to find treatment for his sister.

The assistant finished installing the equipment and made other arrangements. Mark prepared for the experiment.

Machine voice: Start counting down.

3...2...1...

Location locked.

Teleportation has begun.

Mark vanished without a trace; the experiment succeeded, but no happiness could be seen on the elderly's faces.

Because the mechanic's voice said location locked, and the galaxy's central bank was displayed. Why would someone choose a location resembling a bank? According to what they discussed, this is not the right location.

"Not good. There's a betrayal here."

"Go to the bank and save Mark."

All kinds of shouts can be heard.

Little Mark became perplexed as to why everyone was concerned and shouted something about saving his father.

A soldier shouted, "Not good. Assistant Professor Benjamin is missing."

"We've been betrayed; prepare the army; we must rescue Mark before it's too late."

***********

In an unknown location, in a dark room.

A blue-masked man with an unusual voice was laughing aloud.

"HAHAHHA, it's the end of the Merck family now."

And, strangely, the assistant professor, Benjamin, is standing nearby, smiling. The blue-masked man patted Benjamin on the back and said,

"Well done. When we get hold of the research lab, you will be the leader, and we will not place you under anyone. "

"Thank you, boss."

While they were walking, a man in a blue mask asked,

"Mr X, is it really OK to bring him here? How can we be sure he won't betray us after he betrayed his own family?"

Mr X responded, "There is nothing to be concerned about. He chooses to betray his own family because he has always felt he is Mark's shadow. Benjamin thought when they called him Vice President, they were mocking him. As long as he is the leader of the research lab, he never betrays us. We can't kill him until we find a better replacement. "

That's right. Until Mark appeared in his life, Benjamin was always first in everything. First, his crush rejected him and told him she liked Mark. Then Mark became the director of the research centre. Whenever someone referred to him as vice president or assistant professor, he felt he was being mocked. When he was having an argument with his wife, she cursed and insulted him, saying he was nothing but Mark's shadow and that she should try to get close to Mark.

That was the day the man in the blue mask approached him. Benjamin was like a hungry wolf seeing a sheep, so the blue-masked man didn't even get a chance to show all of his cards. He agreed to the blue mask terms without hesitation.

Novel Points:

*Merck's watch: this is the name I gave to the watch. It's a new discovery by the Merck family. It has a function that allows users to teleport to a specific or random location. The main goal is to increase people's willingness to explore space because it is a life-saving divine. Nothing can prevent the user from fleeing.

*Benjamin and Mark were childhood pals. Benjamin is an orphan who has had a difficult life. Mark was a slacker, while Benjamin was a hard worker. But everything changed when his daughter was diagnosed with an unknown illness and his wife died. Sara was not only his wife but also a childhood friend. Benjamin adored her and worked tirelessly for her, only to be rejected. He had to work harder than Mark because he was adopted and had no family or connections. When Sara married Mark, people began to believe Benjamin was a loser born to be Mark's shadow. This led Benjamin to believe Mark had taken everything from him.

*Fairies and the legendary medicine: Fairies are a different race from another galaxy. Rumour has it that they have a cure for every disease in the world. But no one ever discovered how to get to their planet.
