Cleaning

In all of his school days, there had never been a time when Demetrius had truly stood out like this, which in any sense was negative.

Mrs. Gardner just said nonchalantly: “Didn't he have a student before he moved here? There are no exceptions.”

As soon as her voice ended, the murmurs began again.

“So pitiful.”

“Morrow doesn't need to clean the classroom anymore! Congratulations on breaking your twenty-two-day record!”

Someone couldn't help but burst out laughing, leading many other students to laugh as well.

"Stop it! Even without him, I wouldn't be sweeping today!" The boy with curly hair snorted coldly and said to the boy sitting at his desk.

“How long do you think Finlay's brother will set the record?”

“I bet at least six months. How can the boy in the countryside get a good education?"

“Is that too pitiful?”

"Why don't you think we won't have to worry about biology anymore?"

“You’re right! Why didn't I think of that?"

For rich students, the punishment they fear the most is cleaning. These have never had to deal with household chores.

It's just that the background of this biology teacher is not average, so none of the students dared to protest.

Finlay is the class president so he is in charge of handing out the exam papers, when he got to Demetrius' desk, he stopped to the right of Demetrius, but instead of putting the exam paper on Demetrius's desk, he passed it to the person sitting on the left by Demetrius.

"What do you mean?" Demetrius frowned.

"It doesn't make any difference whether the test is given to you or not."

“How do I test that has anything to do with you?”

“The problem is that there aren't enough exams for you. You just moved in, so Mrs. Gardner wasn't ready yet." Finlay laughed.

Others also agreed.

“That's right, Demetrius. Leave the exam papers to someone more deserving.”

The teacher noticed the quarrel in Demetrius's place. She raised her eyebrows and said:

“Who said I wasn't prepared? I knew, of course, that there would be a new student here today. Finlay, hurry up and hand out your exam paper, don't be a laggard."

Finlay immediately blushed to hear that, he didn't count the remaining exams so he didn't expect this case. With no other choice, Finlay could only hand out the exam papers to Demetrius.

"Anyway, I'll stay in class with you, sorry," Finlay spoke as if wanting to save his face.

"Do not need," Demetrius said. "I won't stay on duty."

“That's the rule, Demetrius. Like it or not, whoever gets the lowest score will have to stay last.” Finlay said with a smile.

"That's right, Demetrius, there's no exception, let alone you don't have any honor."

Others in the class thought that Demetrius didn't do it because of honor.

“You must have gotten used to something like this before, right? Why are you posing like that now?”

"No wonder I don't look at him with any sympathy at all, indeed, country people often think they are superior."

"What if I'm not the last one?" Demetrius couldn't help but speak up.

“Then I will sweep the classroom today.” Finlay raised an eyebrow. "And if the last one is you, what do you think?"

"I'll sweep the class from here until you go to college," Demetrius said calmly. “And if I'm better than you, you'll have to sweep all three years of high school, too. Is that okay?”

Everyone in the class gasped. They were excited to watch this conversation because Finlay had never been last in biology before, so he never had to stay in cleaning the class.

Finlay suddenly thought back to Demetrius' piano playing yesterday and it made him hesitate a bit, however, there was no reason why a country kid like Demetrius could beat him, he was always at the top of his class, and he was very confident.

"Okay." Finlay thought that this time he had to crush Demetrius so that he would no longer dare to brag in front of him.

Testing time begins.

Demetrius turned to the front page of the exam paper, the tip of his pen leisurely tracing the multiple-choice questions. The first few sentences were cognitive questions, so in general Demetrius' speed was no different from that of his classmates.

However, later on, with more difficult questions, Demetrius's speed of circling answers remained the same, only compared to other classmates, he became prominent, looking like he was circling indiscriminately.

On a 50-minute test, by the 34th minute, Demetrius had put down his pen.

Finlay is only half done now, looking at Demetrius, he can't help but laugh: "There are people who never know where they are standing."

It is very clear that Demetrius is haphazard, the last question is completely impossible to do, so he gave up like that.

The others were initially excited about the bet between Demetrius and Finlay, but when they saw Demetrius like that, they lost interest.

Professor Gardner's exam was both long and difficult, and there was no reason to finish it so soon. The results already seem obvious.
