The car quickly moved to the school.
The high school Finlay attended was called Berry Baxter.
Berry Baxter is a very famous school only for rich students. There are only three types of people entering this school, one is a student from a very rich family, the other is a student who is both excellent and rich, and the third is a student who is poor but has excellent achievements and receives a full scholarship to study here.
Obviously, the area of this school was three times larger than Demetrius' old high school, he quietly looked at the school's architecture outside the car window before the car stopped at the school gate.
Demetrius then followed Finlay to the classroom.
The homeroom teacher heard that Demetrius was going to school today, so he came to class a little earlier than usual. When he saw Demetrius, he motioned for him to come up to the platform.
"Introduce everyone about yourself, Mr. Hoffman."
Most of the people had already arrived, and dozens of eyes had been fixed on Demetrius from the moment he entered the classroom with Finlay.
"Hello everyone." Demetrius glanced around the classroom, his face still calm, with no smile or forced expression on his face, "My name is Demetrius. Nice to see everyone here."
With that, Demetrius nodded and didn't say another word.
The teacher shook his head slightly, he thought to himself that if Demetrius keeps holding that arrogance, he will surely have to go through hard times here, but the teacher also said nothing, pointing to the back of the class, "You sit there."
Demetrius nodded and stepped off the platform, approaching the back of the class.
There were two empty desks at the back of the classroom, one on the left and one on the right, and Demetrius turned to the left and sat down.
There were murmurs, perhaps deliberately for Demetrius to hear.
“Poor boy! He took Osvaldo's seat. Let's see how he'll be punished tomorrow morning."
“Oh my god! I want tomorrow to come quickly to see Osvaldo's reaction!"
And then those chatter moved on to another, obviously much more intriguing topic.
“I wonder if Demetrius had returned, what would be the status of Finlay?”
“Maybe not as good as before. Demetrius lived in misery for so many years and must have received more attention. “
“I don't think so. Finlay is so talented, there's no reason why the Hoffman family would more care about Demetrius instead of Finlay."
The butler told Demetrius that to avoid gossip affecting Finlay, the Hoffman family only announced to outsiders that they had found their long-lost son, without mentioning that Finlay was not their biological children, so in the eyes of outsiders, Demetrius and Finlay were siblings, and to make sense of that, Demetrius’ age was one year younger.
Demetrius remained in his current position because the seats of the class are inherently not fixed or reserved for anyone, when there is an empty seat, everyone has the right to sit there. If he's already sitting here, it's the same whether he changes to another place or not.
Classes start.
However, Demetrius had no books at all. Finlay notice this and immediately got up from his seat and handed his book to him. This action of Finlay again attracted the attention of the whole class.
“Finlay is really kind.”
"That's right, he's handsome, he's good at studying, and he's kind. He's the most perfect guy I've ever known."
Demetrius raised his eyes to Finlay, he did not refuse but calmly accepted and said, "Thank you."
Finlay smiled, “No thanks needed. We are one family.” After saying that, Finlay returned to his seat.
“Wait, what about the fiancée?” Demetrius heard whispers between two schoolgirls sitting to his right.
"If I were that fiancée, of course, I would still choose Finlay, there's no reason to change to a country boy." Then, their laughter rang out.
Demetrius calmly opened the book, though no one in Hoffman's family had mentioned to him Finlay's fiancée, Demetrius showed no surprise or curiosity.
The math teacher above continued his lecture regardless of whether the students below were understanding or not. Demetrius knew he couldn't keep up, for the time being, so he turned to the front page and went through the first lesson.
When recess came, Demetrius got up and made his way to the restroom. On the way, he saw many curious eyes looking at him.
One thing he didn't know was that as soon as he entered the class, there were pictures and stories about him spread throughout the school chat groups.
Perhaps because it has been so peaceful lately, his appearance has aroused the curiosity of many people.
When Demetrius returned to the classroom, the recess bell rang.
There were still a lot of eyes on Demetrius.
Those glances were either contemptuous or pitiful.
Demetrius didn't mind, he returned to his sitting position.
At this moment, Mrs. Gardner, the biology teacher, entered the classroom. She didn't say anything but write the word “test” on the board big. Then she turned her head to look at the students sitting below and said:
“According to the old rule. The person with the lowest score will have to stay to clean the class.”
Finlay says:
“Mrs. Gardner, our class has a new student. I think he should get special this time!”
And once again, all the attention turned to Demetrius.
In all of his school days, there had never been a time when Demetrius had truly stood out like this, which in any sense was negative.Mrs. Gardner just said nonchalantly: “Didn't he have a student before he moved here? There are no exceptions.”As soon as her voice ended, the murmurs began again.“So pitiful.”“Morrow doesn't need to clean the classroom anymore! Congratulations on breaking your twenty-two-day record!”Someone couldn't help but burst out laughing, leading many other students to laugh as well."Stop it! Even without him, I wouldn't be sweeping today!" The boy with curly hair snorted coldly and said to the boy sitting at his desk.“How long do you think Finlay's brother will set the record?”“I bet at least six months. How can the boy in the countryside get a good education?"“Is that too pitiful?”"Why don't you think we won't have to worry about biology anymore?"“You’re right! Why didn't I think of that?"For rich students, the punishment they fear the most is cleanin
"Time for the test is over." Mrs. Gardner spoke up. “Everybody put down your pens. Finlay collects the exam papers.”Many groaned because they did not finish all the questions in time. Finlay had just finished his last sentence, he breathed a sigh of relief, then smiled smugly and turned his head to look at Demetrius.Demetrius drooped his eyes at the desk, looking like he just didn't do well on a test.Because all the questions are multiple-choice, the grading is also quite fast. As soon as the papers are collected, Mrs. Gardner starts grading the papers. When Finlay saw Mrs. Gardner about to take the top sheet of the papers, he said:"Mrs. Gardner, could you grade my and Demetrius' exam first?"It was obvious that Finlay wanted Demetrius to be humiliated as quickly as possible.Mrs. Gardner glanced at Finlay for a few seconds, then nodded as well and selected Finlay and Demetrius's papers from the stack of papers.Finlay's request was not unreasonable, and it was clear that the whol
A few minutes later, a car drove up to Demetrius. The driver carries Demetrius to a tall building designed to stand out.As soon as Demetrius entered the lobby, he was overwhelmed by the luxurious design; the massive scale destroyed Mr Kirk Hoffman's villa.A middle-aged man in a black suit saw Demetrius enter, quickly got up from the sofa, and walked over to Demetrius, speaking very politely: "Young master. Nice to meet you.""You were the one who gave me the call just now?"Demetrius asked."That's right, young master, I'm Maxwell Duncan!" Maxwell Duncan laughed and said.Maxwell Duncan then led Demetrius into the elevator and pressed on the 25th floor.Demetrius asked, "Can you explain to me about inheritance?""You just go into the meeting room; then you'll understand everything." Maxwell Duncan replied with a smile. When he stepped out of the elevator, Demetrius realized that this whole floor was for offices. The level of luxury and art has been pushed to the highest level.Demet
Demetrius had just finished taking a shower when someone knocked on his door. It was now 8 pm. After announcing the inheritance, Demetrius went home with Finlay in a car. It was rare that Finlay hadn't provoked Demetrius, nor was Demetrius in the mood to guess what he was thinking. When he saw that the knocker was Mrs Gallagher, Demetrius was slightly surprised, then asked, "Mom?" Mrs Gallagher entered the room and closed the door, saying, "Can I talk to you for a few minutes?" Demetrius paused in his act of wiping his hair, "Sure." The light in the room was not too bright, Demetrius was dressed in clean pyjamas, but they couldn't hide his thin body.Mrs Gallagher hesitated for a long time before opening her mouth, "Demetrius, I hope you don't misunderstand what Finlay means." She recalled that the night before Demetrius returned, Fabian had told her, "You must treat Demetrius well. Children who grow up in such difficult circumstances are prone to depression. If I had to go throu
Keagan Stephens stepped back up to the podium, slammed his hand on the board, and spoke sternly, "I'll give you one minute. If someone wants to confess, they can copy the test three times and receive a zero. Otherwise, I'll be checking the camera footage, and the consequences will be much worse."Everyone in the class remained silent, and Keagan Stephens asked, "Still no confessions?"Raina Roberson pointed to a few students sitting near her and said, "Mr Stephens, you should check the people sitting next to me."Keagan Stephens looked at the papers in his hand, scanned the faces of a few students, and then stopped at one table."Kai, why are you staring at that table? Got a headache or something?""Stephens, it was me," Kai Cunningham kept his head down, stammering. "I threw the paper."Keagan Stephens was taken aback by Kai's admission because he was a model student. His teachers were very sympathetic to him. Despite not having a wealthy family background, Kai had entered the school
The classroom was tense as the students awaited the results of Demetrius' test. Keagan Stephens held the papers in his hand with a sarcastic grin."You can ask a person to take my test paper to check with those two people to see if I asked them to help me cheat," Demetrius said, his voice confident.Keagan Stephens's grin faded, replaced by a skeptical look. "Because you're afraid of being caught cheating, you'll probably write it differently on purpose, so there's no match," he said. "Alexander, give me your test."Macey Perkins took on the task of matching the answers. "The last question on Kai Cunningham's test got it wrong. Demetrius got it right," she announced loudly. "Furthermore, in the first few questions of the Alexander Rosa test, five answers are not the same as Demetrius."Alexander Rosa fidgeted in his seat, clearly uncomfortable. "Write something else on purpose, or Keagan will know it by looking at it," he said, a hint of fear in his voice. But Macey still needed to be
It was a quiet night, and both Demetrius and Finlay had returned home from their daily routines. While Finlay was eager to talk to Demetrius about something important, Demetrius was feeling exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. "Demetrius, we need to talk," Finlay said in a serious tone, "It's about your education and future." "Can't it wait until tomorrow?" Demetrius asked, rubbing his tired eyes. "No, it can't," Finlay replied, "This is a critical matter that cannot be delayed." As they were speaking, their father, Kirk Hoffman, who was working in his work, overheard their conversation and stepped out to see what was going on. Finlay continued, "I've heard that you've been placed in the F class, the lowest class at school. This is not acceptable. Your mother and father worked hard to get you into Class A, and now you're in Class F. How will you be able to keep up with the college entrance exams?" Kirk Hoffman listened to Finlay's words with a mix of shock and anger. He couldn
"Normal," Demetrius replied in a monotone voice, betraying the fact that the topic was a sensitive one for him. It seemed that no matter how good or bad others treated him, he did not show any particular reaction, as if he were a robot programmed to keep his emotions in check. As they were nearing the school, Demetrius suddenly spoke up. "Can you drop me off at the bank?" he asked. Macey looked at him quizzically. "The bank? What do you need to do there?" she asked. "Just some work," Demetrius replied evasively, not giving any further explanation. "Okay, no problem. I'll drop you off there," she said, she decided not to push the matter. As they pulled up to the curb, Demetrius quickly got out of the car without looking back to say goodbye. It seemed as though Demetrius didn't want any more contact with her, and that even going to school with her was a reason why he wanted to get out of the car halfway. Macey couldn't help but wonder what was going on with Demetrius. Despite his s
