Alex lay down on the shower floor shivering uncontrollably. Sophia immediately turned off the shower when she got to where he lay. She sat down beside him, raised his head and placed it on her leg. Cynthia came in with a duvet and helped cover him up.“I don't think that this duvet will help him right now. I will have to undress this soaked cloth and wear another one for him. Just help me get a new cloth from his wardrobe.” Sophia rushed out. Cynthia left immediately to go and do what she was asked to do while Sophia picked up Alex's hand and started rubbing her palm on it as a friction to help warm him up.It did not take up to one minute for Cynthia to come back with a new dry cloth. She excused them so that Sophia would have the privacy to undress Alex. When Sophia finished, she called on Cynthia and Jayden to help her carry him to the bed. A few minutes later, Alex had been tucked into the bed and the heater was already put on. Jayden made a phone call to the family doctor and he
It's been up to 3 days since the death of Mr Christopher Columbus, Alex's foster father. And today is the burial. Alex, his girlfriend, his other friends and the staff were all dressed in black. They were all on their way to the cemetery.Over the past few days, some of the C-Square Associate members came to his house to pay a condolence visit, but Alex refused to see them. It was Sophia, Jayden and Cynthia who later ended up attending to them. They made it to the cemetery even before the ambulance service brought in the deceased body of the late Mr Christopher Columbus. A few minutes after the corpse arrived, the officiating minister started the burial service. The sermon by the officiating minister went this way, “We want to use this opportunity to honour the late Mr Christopher Columbus who lived an exemplary life when he was with us. He was a father to many and also a mentor to many others. The first time I was lucky to come across Mr Christopher was when I was having some issues
Alex drove the car to a small club downtown. Jayden was surprised at where he brought them. He was expecting him to drive to a serene environment where he could sit quietly, meditate and listen to his own thoughts and not this noisy place. “Alex, what are we even doing here?” Jayden asked when Alex stopped the car at the club's parking lot. “This is the exact reason I didn't want any of you to come with me in the first place. Just mind your goddamn business like you promised a few minutes ago at the house. Just behave like you don't know me, at least, you now know that I wasn't off to go and kill myself like you guys thought.” Alex said in a bored but agitated tone. He was wondering what exactly his friends wanted from him. He agreed to their terms and conditions even when he wasn't okay with it and now, Jayden wants to influence his decision. “Contrary to what you think, we all care about you. You may think that we are choking you but you have no idea how much favour we are doing y
Jayden got to the Columbus estate about 15 minutes later. Alex kept whining and sulking like a child. Jayden knew that Sophia would be so disappointed to hear of everything that went down tonight. It was already a few minutes past eight pm when they got home. Jayden dragged him out of the car and they made their way into the house.“Why are you draaagging me against my wish? Why are you treating me like a child? Can't I make decisions for myself anymore?” Alex slurred but Jayden paid him no listening ears. He was past the stage of caring that it was his boss he was dragging like that. He was wondering what would have happened if he didn't go out with him. Maybe his face would be all over the internet as the Casanova CEO who went clubbing with different girls the day his foster father was buried. Some of the bloggers might even twist it by saying that he probably murdered his father just to have everything to himself. Those types of headlines might destroy his career and he wasn't goin
Throughout the night, Sophia sobbed silently. She thought that she was discreet enough but little did she know that Cynthia heard it but she let her have her moment without any interruptions. Maybe that will go a long way in relieving her of the emotional burden she was carrying around in her chest. Cynthia felt really sorry for Sophia, she prayed that Alex would come back to his senses sooner than later so that they would be graced once more by Sophia's radiant smile which disappeared since the day Mr Christopher Columbus died.*****Alex opened his eyes to discover that it was already morning and he wasn't in his room. He looked around swiftly in panic to make sure that he wasn't in a strange place with a strange person. His racing heart calmed down when his eyes caught the shadow of Jayden in the bathroom. That was when he slowly looked around and then discovered that he was in his house but in Jayden's room.“Look who is finally awake after getting wasted the previous night.” Jayd
“Stop crying, please. It hurts me to see you cry.” Alex wipes the tears running down Sophia's face. He pecked her forehead and her nose. “I'm very sorry that I've only caused you nothing but heartache these past few days. I promise to do better.” Alex apologized, still holding on to Sophia's body that was on top of him. He rubbed soothing circles on her back.Sophia dabs her tears with her pyjamas top but the tears won't just stop falling. Contrary to what Alex thinks, this is not the tears of hurt or heartache. These are tears of joy and relief. She now has her man back and she is very happy. She was determined not to let him off the hook again and to do better by him too cos it seems like she didn't do enough to help him in his grief and maybe that's why he drifted away.“It's fine. The most important thing right now is that you are here and you have realised your mistakes. I'm so happy that you are done guilt-tripping yourself over your father's death. Like I said earlier, it wasn'
They entered the lounge in high spirits– intending to have fun and leave every bad energy behind. They played different games, but the one they spent the most time playing was the hooker board game. They had fun and they forgot about the moody situations of some days ago. They were now sitting at the bar having cocktails and generally catching up with each other. The other three noticed that Jayden's cheerful aura had diminished, replaced with the one he had earlier. He seems to always be deep in thought and forgetting all about his environment.“Jayden…” No answer. “Jayden!” There was still no answer. “Jayden!!!” Cynthia yelled thereby startling him out of his thoughts.“Um… yes, you called me. Why did you call my name like that? You freaking startled me.” Jayden said, palming his racing heart.“Well, I'm not sorry cos I've been calling your name for what seems like forever now and there has been no response. So, that leaves me with the question, what were you thinking about?” Cynth
Jayden clears his throat and also takes a deep breath. “I used to live with my father's sister, who is my aunt. My grandma gave birth to three children– two boys and one girl. The first son was my late father, the second son is the one that my grandma went to see with his wife and the third child is my aunt whom I lived with– she has been behind bars for over one decade now.” Jayden paused when he heard the gasps from his friends. He knew that they were wondering what his aunt must have done to warrant such a long jail term, but that was what he was about to tell them if they let him.“We are so sorry for making a sound and thereby distracting you. We will try our best to listen attentively, as quietly as possible.” Cynthia chipped in almost immediately after he stopped talking abruptly after their shocked gasps.Jayden nodded and continued, “As I said earlier, I used to live with my aunt, her name is Sally Bartels. I was taken to her place by my uncle when my parents died in a plane
