Chapter 11: Obtaining Items For The Journey

Lucifer woke up to the light of the morning sun and with his eyes closed he looked outside. It was day time and people were all on the streets going about their daily lives. The shops were opened, the stalls were set up once again and people were buying food.

"Time to head out.”

He got out of the window and walked up to the bed where Fenrir is still sleeping. She was snoring and sleeping in a position unbecoming of a lady. Lucifer was irritated by her uncivilised manner and kicked her off the bed. Fenrir hit her head on the ground and became fully awake.

"Hey Lucifer, what's the big idea?!" she shouted at him.

“We have work to do, Get yourself together and let's go."

"Alright, Alright just give me a moment,” Fenrir yawned. “Last night I had an amazing dream. Do you want to hear it?"

"No."

"Why not?”

"Because I'm not interested in getting dressed or chained or something."

The two of them went over to the magical item shop. A woman was inside, She was tanned skinned with short white hair in a bob cut with green edges and her bangs covering half her face with her eyes were yellow pupils. She looked the same age and height as Fenrir . The woman was reading a book when the earring on her right earring started to vibrate. The door opened and she looked up then panicked. The ones who walked in are Lucifer and Fenrir.

‘What's with these power levels.’

The woman asked herself looking at them with shaking eyes and a look of fear. Lucifer and Fenrir looked around the shop for something.

"Hello, can I help you?" the shopkeeper asked.

"We are looking for maps, Do you have any?" Fenrir asked.

"What kind of map?”

"Do you know any ancient maps?”

"I have a few just wait here a moment."

The woman went to the backroom and returned with a box in her hand.

"Here's all the maps I have, You can check whichever you need."

Lucifer skipped through all of the maps. Some of them were even maps to dungeons and others were treasure maps but Lucifer skipped over them. The shopkeeper kept looking at the two of them.

‘These two are powerful and this child. He's giving me a bad vibe just looking at him. I know she's a werewolf but he's something different, I can't tell what,’ She thought to herself.

Lucifer finished looking through the maps and found nothing. Without any other word he turned and walked away.

"Yo Lucifer, where are you going?"

"This shop doesn't have what I'm looking for."

Lucifer then noticed something on one of the shelves. It was a silver ring inside a box with a dragon engraved around it. With one look he was captivated by it and couldn't take its closed eyes off it.

"That's called the Dragon Lord Ring. It's a storage device with an infinite storage space dated back to over 3000 years ago," The shopkeeper explained.

"It sounds so powerful but it costs 10 gold coins. Why is it so cheap?" Fenrir asked.

"Nobody has gotten the ring to work and what doesn't work is classified as junk."

Lucifer examined the ring.

‘What's this feeling, It's like the ring is calling me,’ Lucifer thought to himself. He took the ring out of the box and looked at it.

"I'll take it," he said.

"Lucifer, are you sure? It might be useless,” Fenrir asked.

"There is no use debating, I'll take it."

He gave the shopkeeper a crystal that he procured from the cave. She was shocked upon seeing such an item.

"This crystal is so pure, It's worth a fortune. Are you going to give it to me for such a simple ring?" she asked.

Lucifer didn't pay her no need and placed the ring on his right middle finger and nothing happened. The three looked at the ring silently until Fenrir got angry.

"See I told you that was a rip off," she shouted.

Suddenly the eyes of the dragon glowed red and light continued to glow brighter and brighter until Lucifer was slowly by the light. He suddenly found himself in space with billions of stars around him going for miles.

‘This feels like I'm in outer space. What's going on?’

He turned around and noticed that the space stretched infinity.

‘Looks like I can store a lot of things inside this ring.’

Lucifer was swallowed by light again and found himself back inside the shop. The ring stopped glowing and the shine of the ring returned. Lucifer tried taking off the ring but it refused to come off.

"I guess the ring has been activated and chose you as its master but how did that happen?" the shopkeeper asked.

"Don't know, let's go."

"Hold on, I have another item that might suit you."

The shopkeeper went inside a box and took out a golden earring. "This is a magic appraising item, it allows you to see a person's start with one look.”

"How do we know it works?" Fenrir asked.

"Try it.”

The shopkeeper placed it on Fenrir's wolf ear and Suddenly numbers started to flash before her eyes. She was looking directly at the shopkeeper and was getting a clear view of their stats.

"Strength 240, Magic 320, Speed 480, Vitality 270,” Fenrir called out the numbers that add up to powerlevel of 1310 and she noticed something was off about her. "Wait, you're a dark elf?" she asked.

The shopkeeper smiled. "Yes my name is Evelyne but you can call me Eve and I'm a dark Elf, please keep it a secret," she asked kindly and Fenrir kept staring at her with confusion.

"What are you doing here, I thought dark elves lived deep inside the forest?"

"I came here for a fresh start in life, what about you?"

"I'm travelling the world with Lucifer here—huh—What the?!” Fenrir was shocked when she looked at Lucifer. "Strength 1350,Magic 3500, Speed 2250, Vitality 2850. Power level 9950 !! Dude seriously?!"

That was Lucifer's power level and it surprised Fenrir. She also notices that there is ??? beside Lucifer's race.

"That's the same power level that I picked up on, both of you are really strong," Eve said.

"Wait ?! What is my power level?!" Fenrir asked proudly.

"Strength 2000,Magic 2700, Speed 2100, Vitality 2800 power level 9600,” she said.

Fenrir was shocked to see that Lucifer was slightly stronger than her.

‘Wait, something isn't right. We are equal In terms of strength but why do I have a feeling that he's much stronger than me?’ she asked herself.

After buying the earring and a few more items they decided to go to the library for information. As they walk through the streets Fenrir kept peeking behind her until she suddenly received a telepathic message from Lucifer.

{You sense something as well}

{You can communicate telepathically I guess I shouldn't act so surprised but yes some sinister is hiding amongst the crowd watching us. What are you planning to do, Lucifer?}

{My real priority is returning back to my world nothing more nothing less and anybody who stands in my way is a threat and I don't show my enemies mercy.}

{I expect nothing less from my partner.}

They both arrived at the Library with shelves and shelves of books. Lucifer was guided to the shelves with the ancient contents and one book caught his eyes [Tales of the Hero King Arthur and The Evil Black Dragon ] was written on the cover.

‘This is some story written from the human perspective.’

Lucifer put the book back on the shelf. Suddenly the eyes of the dragon on Lucifer ring glowed and something guided him to the book he was looking for. There is a small box and inside the box is a bunch of old books [The Chamber of Wishes].

"At last, this is what I'm searching for," Lucifer rejoiced.

"This is not what I am searching for."

That is the conclusion Lucifer goes after reading the book. Fenrir who was relaxing on a chair open her eyes and look at him

"This is just a copy of the original and I can see there are multiple copies of if."

"May didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands and he divided it so that it looked like a regular story book,” Fenrir suggested.

Lucifer pondered on the idea.

‘She may be on to something, If I was hiding something I would hide it in plain sight so nobody would find it.’

Lucifer decides to trust his instincts then place the book inside his storage ring and go up from his chair.

"Where are we going?!" Fenrir asked.

"To get registered as adventurers.”
