Elena had been enjoying a quiet Saturday afternoon at Danny’s home. Not she loved staying at Danny’s. He had compelled her to come over.

She was lost in the pages of a novel that offered her an escape from the annoying life she was living. The soft murmur of the air conditioner and the distant chirping of birds outside were the only sounds that filled the cozy apartment. Happy that the devil of Danny had left the house earlier. She was free to fantasize about she and Henry. And of course she took the job but didn’t mention to Danny that her now boss was Henry.

The doorbell shattered the quietness, jolting Elena out of her literary world.

She hesitated, wondering who could be visiting unannounced on a weekend. Danny didn’t tell her that someone was coming.
