Chapter 3: The Awakening

William turned around and started walking away before the butler could get to him.

His Mother-in-law was still ranting but he was no longer listening because his heart was broken from the betrayal of Tracey.

How could she do this to him when he had never hurt her before?

He even forgot to bring her the Radiant Monarch Flower but it doesn't matter anymore.

The diamond necklace she was now wearing was valued at 10 million according to that rich man whom she had chosen instead of him.

Only if she knew that he could get her one that is ten times that value and not bulge about it.

"I've not always been a loser, Tracey...."

William got into his garbage truck and drove to the landfill site to dispose of the waste, and of course, clear his head.

He couldn't stop thinking about Tracey's action and her demand to get a divorce.

She didn't even feel remorseful.

He arrived at the site and got down from the truck when two Maybach vehicles drove roughly into the site and six men in black suits alighted.

They had snake tattoos running up the neck to the right side of the face and all had a green wristband around the left right.

One that had the symbol of a serpent.

William was engrossed in his thoughts and did not notice their presence until they were up close.

He raised his head and was surprised to see the six men in the same dress code.

His eyes dimmed for a second as he recognized the tattoos that went up their faces.

These guys belonged to a local gang in the city.

William stammered, "Hey there, can I help you guys?"

One of the men stepped forward to say, "You must be William. William Miller, you're the useless husband of Tracey Wilson, Director of the Wilson's group "

William's gaze turned cold as he snorted, "Yes, I'm William Miller. What do you want?"

The burly man who had stepped forward kicked William in the crotch and he was forced to drop to his knees.

"You useless man, you have refused to divorce your beautiful wife. Do you think so highly of yourself?"

When William heard these words, he raised his head to the man in front of him and asked, "Who sent you?"

Tracey would definitely not hire a group of hooligans to force him into signing the divorce papers.

She would only shout and mistreat him at the slightest provocation.

Moreover, she talked about getting the divorce tomorrow.

"Be silent," The man scolded, "You're nothing but a trash picker. I wonder why a classy woman like Tracey Miller agreed to marry you. You must have deceived her or she must have been crazy"

He took a step back to meet the others who stared down at William.

"Who do think you are to talk nonsense about my wife" William tightened his fist in anger and glared murderously at the gangsters in front of him.

He could easily ignore insults directed at him but not his beloved wife, Tracey, even though she just betrayed him.

The burly man chuckled, "Your wife. You mean your ex-wife"

This question confused William because he had yet to sign any divorce papers.

He wanted to say something when the men pulled out pistols from their suits all at the same time.

William was stupefied and had little to no time to react as they opened fire at him.

A bullet first pierced into the stomach causing a gush of blood.

In the blink of an eye, his body was full of bullet deposits and a single trail of tears ran down his shaking eyes.

His body dropped to the ground with a loud thud and blood oozed endlessly from his body.

"C'mon... Let's go" The leader beckoned at the others and they found their way into the vehicle.

The screeching noise of the vehicle tires resounded and they drove out of sight.

Breath was slowly escaping out of William's nostril as he lay there in his pool of blood and his lips vibrated.

"Tracey..." He stuttered silently and his eyes blinked.

Why today? He was going to tell his wife the truth about himself.

He was supposed to let her understand that he wasn't useless and was only pretending to be trash.

The thick crimson blood trailed down William arm and soon came to contact with the gold ring on his finger.

The gleaming gold ring detailed a majestic dragon that is coiled around the band.

William's dying body vibrated the moment blood came in contact with the gold ring.

The gold ring glowed red and the gemstone that represented the eyes of the dragon shimmered brightly.

An enigmatic aura of power exploded from the ring causing a temporal force field that resonated in the air.

Slowly, a trail of smoke emitted from the ring into the air and there, formed a figure.

A cloud of black smoke overshadowed William's body.

If someone was around to look closer, he would notice it was a colossal dragon in the form of smoke.

And the eyes of that dragon were bright enough to illuminate the entire site location.

The dragon figure retracted into the ring and the glow on the ring vanished.

William was unconscious for hours but eventually, his eyes blinked open.

It took him a few minutes to recall everything that had happened.

Those gangsters had shot him and left him for dead.

That was when he realized he wasn't feeling pain and his body felt completely different.

The first thing William looked into was the gold ring on his finger.

His eyeballs enlarged and his heart rate slowly rose.

"No way... " He stammered and tried to pull the ring from his finger but it didn't budge.

He noticed the bullets in the coagulated blood on the ground and realized that the bullets had dropped from his body but he wasn't surprised.

He had reawakened the real him.

The side he had kept hidden for the past five years.

The buzzing noise of the device on the ground drew his attention.

He picked up the phone from the grass and looked into the dimly lit screen.

For a moment, he forgot his current predicament and stared at the incoming voice call from a foreign number.

He now noticed the several missed calls from the same number.

"Who could this be?" He wondered and reluctantly accepted the call.

His expression instantly changed as the charming voice of a woman came from the other end, "Welcome back Young Master, All restrictions have been removed. You are officially the sole heir of the Miller Conglomerate once again"
