Jack turned, his demeanor instantly shifting as he sized up Alex.

Puffing out his chest like a blowfish, his fists clenched, and his eyes narrowed with hostility.

"So, you're the one extorting and harassing my sister, huh?" Jack sneered.

"Let me warn you: a pathetic man like you had better stay away from her. Keep pestering her, and you’ll be digging your own grave."

Alex snorted, amused.

"Don't you have any manners, kid? If you did, you'd greet me properly as your brother-in-law."

Jack’s face darkened instantly.

"Brother-in-law?!" he growled.

"Who do you think you are, you ignorant fool?  Do you even deserve it? My family should've hired you as a servant instead!"

Alex chuckled.

"You're as foolish as you look."

Jack’s temper flared,

“So, Father—do you really plan to turn them into slaves?” Sofina asked. Her face made her opposition unmistakably clear. The king let out a slow sigh. “That was the original plan,” he said. “The one we agreed on last year—before everything changed.”“What changed?” Sofina pressed. The king waved his hand dismissively. The wall screen flickered to life.Footage from Bella’s laboratory filled the room—cold, sterile, and ominous. Inside, several people worked at their stations, moving with precision. Some of them laughed. Others talked casually.“Last year,” the King said, his voice rising with barely contained excitement, “they finally reached Prussia’s technological level. It was the perfect time to harvest them as slaves. And from that moment on—”His expression shifted into something close to ecstasy.“—they stepped beyond us. They abandoned Prussia’s old path and broke free from its chains.”Sofina stared at him, struggling to follow.“What do you mean?” she asked.“Prussia,” Wilhel

The palace hall fell silent as Duke Christoph played the live feed.On the massive screen, Alex’s aircraft was swallowed by blinding white light. The light bomb detonated. The image shook violently, then dissolved into static and fire. Nothing remained. No wreckage. No escape. The King stared at the screen, his face draining of color. Sofina felt the blood leave her lips. Her fingers clenched without her noticing.Duke Christoph turned, already smiling.“Your Majesty,” he said smoothly, “the last heir of Saint-Claire is confirmed dead. The obstacle is gone. I request that you revoke Princess Sofina’s five-year promise. With that condition removed, she may be married at once—to a man of your choosing.”He did not hide his intent. Everyone in the hall knew whose son he meant. The King did not answer immediately. He turned to Sofina.“Sofina,” he asked quietly, “what do you think?”She lifted her head. Her eyes were steady, though her chest felt tight.“Father,” she said, “you are the Ki

On the throne, King Wilhelm Augustus sat rigid, his gaze fixed on the man before him.“Christoph,” he said coldly, “is it truly necessary to hunt down the last heir of Saint-Claire?”Duke Christoph von Dornwald inclined his head, just enough to show respect. “Your Majesty, we exterminated the entire Saint-Claire family during the last succession because they were the greatest threat to your crown. They supported your brother.”“If we allow this one survivor to grow unchecked, he will become a danger to us—to our sleep, to our peace. Eliminating him is necessary.”The king’s fingers tapped once against the armrest. “Then explain to me this,” he said. “How can he be so rich?”“It appears the rumors are true,” Christoph replied. “He studied cultivation in Xia. When he returned, he crushed the underworld leaders one by one, forced them under his command, and used that foundation to build Eden Group. During the last betting event alone, he amassed wealth that surpassed even Your Majesty’

When Alex heard that his enemy might be the king himself, his heart went ice-cold.“Countess Marlene,” Alex asked suddenly. “How long have I been here?”“About twenty three hours since we found you,” Marlene replied.“Listen to me,” Alex said quickly. “I guess, the only reason I’m still alive is because Sofina, as a princess, demanded my protection. The king may agree—but only for one day. Twenty-four hours.”He tried to stand, then staggered as his legs failed him.“After those twenty-four hours,” Alex continued, forcing herself upright, “he’ll send people to kill me again.”A sharp, brutal pain exploded inside his body. Alex froze. In that instant, He understood. The king had spared his life—but not his power. His inner core was gone. Destroyed. Completely erased. The force he had cultivated for years was empty, hollowed out like a burned-out star.“…Damn it.”Alex hurriedly pulled on his clothes, his movements stiff and uneven.“Marlene, I need to leave Prussia. Now. If the king un

Alex froze. His eyes widened.“Why… why is this because of me?”Countess Marlene folded her arms.“Because Sofina called Eve to save you,” she said. “When Eve found you, you were lying on the ground like crushed meat. Like you’d been hit by an aircraft. Bones shattered. Body torn up. Half-dead. She had no choice but to fly you straight to the hospital.”Alex’s mind went blank for a second. Then memories rushed back.Three men.A fight.Blood.One of them called someone “Master”… or something like that.Then—darkness.He slowly raised his wrist. His bracelet. The device that recorded everything. It was gone. His heart sank.Countess Marlene noticed his movement and gave a small nod.“Your bracelet was destroyed,” she said.Alex’s fingers tightened.“And everything Eve saw…” Marlene continued, her lips curving into a faint smile, “was transmitted to Estoria. To Bella.”She paused.“Your Bella saw you broken. Dying. Covered in blood.”Her eyes sharpened.“She was terrified. Furious. She

“Princess Sofina… are you all right?”The voice cut through the fog in her head.Sofina blinked hard. Her vision swam, then snapped into focus. An elderly man stood over her, tall and broad, his presence heavy and imposing.“I’ve already administered the antidote,” he said calmly. “You should be regaining clarity by now.”She flexed her fingers. Then her arms. The burning heat was gone. The overwhelming urge had vanished. Her body answered her again, fully under her control. Her heart slammed as she turned her head.Count Lorenz lay sprawled on the floor.Blood pooled beneath him, dark and spreading. There was no movement. No breath. He was unmistakably dead.“Who are you?” Sofina asked, her voice tight. The old man stepped back and bowed deeply. “Princess Sofina. You activated the emergency signal. I came immediately to secure your safety.”“Emergency signal?” Her eyes dropped to the bracelet on her wrist. She didn’t remember pressing anything. But fragments rushed back—panic, raw fe
