Ellie and Rindley followed the noise, until it stopped.

“Who was it?”

“It was not Friedrich, I think.” Ellie said. “Not that I have heard him screaming a lot, but…” She shrugged.

Rindley pulled her to him and cupped her face, making her look straight at his eyes.

“Did you and that guy… ?”

She took a while to understand the meaning of his words. When she did, she wrinkled her nose.

“Yikes! No!!” She said, pushing Rindley away. “How disgusting!”

Rindley smiled, satisfied.

“Good.”

Ellie narrowed her eyes at him.

“I don't know why you are so satisfied, Mr. Fairfax.”

“Don’t you know? Well, then I have to make it clear: I am interested in you. romantically, I mean, just so you’ll have no more doubts.”

Ellie bit her lower lip.

“Hmmm…” She said, looking down. Then, she took a deep breath and looked ahead. “We will chat about this later. Now, let’s find out what the hell is going on around here.”
