The visit

He was taken inside Brandon's residence, and looked around curiously. Remembering how Brandon lived in poverty, always with that hungry face, worn-out clothes, working low-paying jobs, he wondered why. Was it all pride? Was Brandon Ashford so proud that he wouldn't accept help from his own family? Or did they do something to get him to reject them?

Not even Kayle's house, before his family lost everything, came close to Friedrich Ashford's. It was smaller, of course, than Ashford Manor, but still, it was an imposing house and the best Kayle had ever seen. He imagined Damon’s face if he could see that. The house in itself was enough to prove that Friedrich was way richer than the Montgomerys

He was led into a huge room, where Friedrich was sitting at the piano, with a glass of whiskey on top of the instrument. The song he played was Moonlight Sonata. Kayle wasn't a man who appreciated classical music, but this was his mother's favorite and therefore he knew it very well.
