Clarissa and Landon both took their time deciding on what they wanted from the menu. Once they had made their choices, the waiter nodded politely and left to go prepare their orders. The atmosphere between them was charged with unspoken tension, a mixture of curiosity and something else neither of them could quite name. It was then that Clarissa decided to start the conversation.

“So, I didn’t know you were a good fighter,” Clarissa began, her tone light and inquisitive. She leaned forward slightly, her eyes locked on his. “Have you always been a good fighter? I mean, I remember seeing you get beaten up quite a bit back in high school, so I don’t think you were this skilled back then.”

Landon chuckled softly, a small smile playing on his lips as he recalled those days. “Well, I wasn’t always a good fighter,” he admitted. “I learned most of what I know after high school. I had to toughen up, you know? Life has a way of teaching you the skills you need to survive.”
