Chapter 3

Gerald turned to look at the man in shock.

"Who are you?" He asked the old man.

The old man was holding a black card in his hand which he stretched towards Gerald.

Gerald raised his eyebrow in confusion as he looked at the man.

"What do you want from me?" Gerald asked the old man.

"Please, I need treatment." The old man begged.

"How did you find me?" Gerald asked him.

"I heard your medical skills were exceptional, so I helped you get out of prison. I hope you can save me." The old man answered.

Gerald was a miracle doctor which was how he was able to make money while he was in prison.

His reputation has far preceded him and he was known far and wide by lots of people but his wife did not know who he truly was.

Gerald looked at the old man and waved his head at him.

"Go away, I am not in the mood to treat anyone." Gerald turned the old man down.

He was still reeling from the pain and betrayal of his wife so he was not in the mood to treat anybody.

"Please, help me." The old man begged.

He showed Gerald the black card that was in his hands.

Gerald did not need to look hard to know that the old man was a very wealthy person for two reasons.

The first reason was that only people in high places could afford to meet him.

His true identity was a top secret and only a few were privileged to know him as the price for his services was usually high.

The second reason was that only the wealthiest of the wealthy could use the black card.

To be given the black card, a person has to have billions of dollars in his account which was why Gerald knew that the man was a wealthy man.

"What do you want me to do with it?" Gerald asked the man nonchalantly.

He was too heartbroken to be moved by the black card. As far as he was concerned, no amount of money could heal him of his pain and hurt.

"Tell me any amount you want and I promise you that I will pay, I can even give you the card to withdraw any amount you like, all I just want is to be treated." The old man pleaded with Gerald.

Gerald knew that he could make back all the money that his ex-wife had taken from him and double it just by treating this old man.

"See old man, money is not my problem! I am not in the mood to treat anyone because my wife just divorced me." Gerald revealed this to the old man.

The old man felt bad for Gerald and also for himself because he realized that he had come at the wrong time.

"You can see now that I need healing more than you," Gerald said to the old man.

The old man refused to give up. He had promised himself that if he was finally able to locate Gerald, he would not leave until he got treated.

The old man had been searching for Gerald for up to a year. When he was finally able to locate him, he was told that Gerald was in prison.

The old man used his influence to process Gerald's release from prison unknown to Gerald.

The old man was told that Gerald would be released that day and he came to wait for him.

"Please, even if you don't want to treat me, then take a look at me first." The old man pleaded.

Gerald was already getting tired of the old man's begging and he knew that the old man would not leave him until he had gotten what he wanted.

Gerald could not blame the old man because it was usually difficult to see him so anyone who managed to see him always tried to get what they wanted from him before they left.

"Fine!" Gerald said.

"Thank you!" The old man smiled happily.

Gerald told the old man to sit down on the bench and checked him.

"You are not dying anytime soon old man because your sickness won't be life-threatening in the short term," Gerald explained to the old man.

The old man sighed in relief, he began to heap praises upon Gerald.

Gerald stood up immediately and was about to leave but the old man held him back.

"Please, what can I do to make you change your mind." The old man inquired from Gerald.

"I have told you, old man, I am not in the mood," Gerald repeated.

He removed the old man's hands from his body and began to walk away.

“Please at least take this card, it's for the check you just made for me. My principle does not allow me to take advantage of others.”

Gerald had met many rich people in prison, but none as generous as this man.

There was no reason to refuse.

"Get the medicine and find me," Gerald whispered in the old man's ear.

The old man knew that money alone would not be able to convince Gerald.

He thought about what Gerald had just told him and he decided that he knew exactly what would convince Gerald.

“Call Grace”, he said to his guard, “I've found the one she's going to marry.”
