The Amazing Jack Morland

Chapter 2

Not wanting to waste any time, Jack quickly reached into his pocket and looked at the contents of his wallet.

He could only let out a long sigh. Someone who was often referred to as a sewer rat was really very poor.

In his bulky wallet, he even only had $10 left. That was clearly not enough to get him to Lily Osborne's house by taxi. He needed at least $15 to get to Lily's house.

So, Jack reluctantly chose to walk faster to Lily's residence located in The DownGrow House, a very famous elite neighbourhood in Ocean Hill.

However, he had only been walking for a short while when his stomach started to rumble. He touched his stomach and tried to stifle his hunger.

That day he had only eaten the chocolate bread that the college provided for free for breakfast and in the afternoon he had only taken a slice of pizza brought by her dorm mate.

Of course he was very hungry at the time. But, he was thinking of raising more money so that he could take Lily Osborne out to eat at a nice restaurant on their hundredth anniversary next month.

Unfortunately, it seemed like he was starting to doubt if that would actually be possible.

"Lily, I hope it's not true," Jack muttered halfway through the journey.

However, in the middle of the journey, his old mobile phone suddenly vibrated. Jack quickly looked at the phone and hoped that Lily was calling him.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a call from Lily. It was only a notification from a social media that he was using. The notification was from Lily Osborne, his beautiful girlfriend.

Jack smiled happily and immediately clicked the notification. The post was a photo. But, after seeing the photo that Lily had just uploaded, Jack's smile disappeared completely.

The photo was of Lily being passionately kissed by Tobias. Not a kiss on the cheek, but on the lips. The caption written by Lily also made Jack's blood boil.

'New journey with you. Love you, Toby.'

"This isn't right. You ... really betrayed me, Lily. But why? What's wrong?"

With anger taking over him, Jack walked faster and finally reached Lily's magnificent mansion.

Jack had never been to Lily's house before because Lily had always forbidden him.

They also usually always met outside the campus. The location chosen was also always very far from their campus. This was so that no one knew about their relationship.

However, at the moment Jack needed an explanation so he didn't care if Lily would be angry with him. He walked over and rang the doorbell of Lily's house without thinking.

A security guard opened a small gap at the edge near the doorbell. He saw who the guest was. However, after he saw that it was Jack, he immediately snorted in annoyance.

"Oh my! How did a beggar get into this complex? Get out of here!"

Jack hastily replied, "Sorry, I'm not a beggar."

"I want to meet Lily Osborne." Jack said quickly.

The security guard looked incredulous but he still opened the gate slightly, "What are you talking about? You want to meet Miss Osborne? Don't dare!"

He shook his head and gave Jack a dismissive look, "Uh, I see. You must be one of my young miss' fans."

Lily Osborne was not an artiste but she was quite famous online so the security guard's assumption could not be wrong either.

"Hey young man, I don't know if you know the address of this house, but I suggest you wake up from your dream and go away from here."

Jack gave a puzzled look. "What do you mean?"

"Get out of here. Miss Osborne cannot and will never see you."

The security guard then intended to enter again but Jack hurriedly prevented him.

"Sorry, but I actually know her. I'm her college mate, oh more precisely I'm her boyfriend."

The security guard widened his eyes and laughed at Jack.

"Oh, young man. Stop acting crazy. How dare you claim to be Miss Osborne's boyfriend!"

"You're so ignorant!" The security guard shook his head but he did open the door.

"I am indeed Lily's lover. Please, let me in and I will prove that what I say is true." Jack looked confident even though he was currently very angry.

"Nonsense. Miss Lily's lover is Young Master Tobias and he is inside. How could Miss Lily be dating you? The poor guy has too many fantasies!" The security guard had already lost his temper and rushed inside again.

However, Jack Morland, who had lost control of himself, immediately slipped inside and ran quickly.

"Hey, come back here!"

"Damn poor boy, stop!"

The security guard shouted loudly and chased after him but Jack ignored him and continued running until he stopped himself when he saw Lily kissing passionately near a luxury car that Jack guessed belonged to Tobias.

"Lily!" Jack called out in shock.

Lily and Tobias immediately separated themselves. Lily stared in shock at Jack, her poor, useless lover.

"Jack, what are you doing here? How did you get in?" Lily stared in shock.

Tobias looked at Jack with a furrowed brow, "You know him, sweetheart? Who is he?"

The security guard who was chasing Jack got there and said, "Sorry, miss. He just barged in."

Lily gave the security guard an annoyed look and then quickly turned to Jack. "Why are you here, Jack?"

Jack shook his head, "You even asked me that? Please, Lily. You already cheated on me. How can you even ask me that?"

Tobias Gray looked a bit shocked but he was still quietly waiting, more like watching.

"Shouldn't you be explaining to me why you betrayed me? What did I do wrong, Lily?" Jack looked confused.

Lily sighed lazily, "Jack, I think our relationship was wrong from the start. I should never have agreed to date you."

"But, you-"

"We broke up, Jack. I have Toby now, he's my new boyfriend." Lily said as she smiled at Tobias.

Tobias, who understood everything, responded, "0h, I see. Hey, you ... whoever you are, leave Lily alone from now on. She's my girlfriend now."

"Besides, what can you give Lily? A poor young man like you clearly doesn't belong with a beautiful girl like Lily." Tobias smirked.

Lily nodded her head, "You're right, he can't even afford to take me out to eat at a fast food restaurant. Seriously, he hardly ever gives me anything."

Tobias laughed condescendingly as he looked at Jack and he said to Lily, "Lucky you met me, Lily. You can ask me for anything. Anything you want, I'll give it to you."

Jack clenched his fists, trying to channel his frustration there but unfortunately he couldn't.

"But, you used to say that money is not important, Lily. How can you change now?"

Lily replied impatiently, "It's not me who's changed but me who is now realizing that dating you won't make me happy."

"So, money makes you happy?" Jack was now unable to control himself.

Tobias laughed mockingly, "Of course. What girl doesn't like glamour, mate? Don't be so innocent!"

"If you don't have money, don't dream of having a girl as beautiful as Lily." Tobias added.

After saying that, Tobias kissed Lily's cheek as if he was making Jack jealous.

Jack was really provoked. "Get away from her!"

"What? She is my girfriend, why I have to go away from her?"

"You stole her from me. It's not fair. You just use your money to make her turn to you."

Tobias laughed mockingly, "You're so pathetic. Poor people like you have no ethics. No wonder Lily turned on you so easily."

"Can't you get another girl who's single?" Jack still didn't accept it.

"I always get what I want, including when I want Lily, then she's mine." Tobias smiled wryly.

Lily couldn't contain herself anymore and she shouted frantically, "Stephen! Get him out!"

The security guard who had been silent earlier immediately called for another bodyguard.

"Lily, you're really too much!" Jack shouted but Lily didn't care and was busy helping Tobias instead.

Tobias grinned at Jack who was being held by the security guard and the Osborne family guards.

"Throw him now!" Lily commanded dispassionately.

"Lily, please!" Jack called out in disbelief.

But, Lily Osborne really didn't seem to care about Jack Morland. She seemed to be deaf, not listening to Jack's calls. She seemed deaf and did not even turn her head towards Jack.

The guards then dragged Jack out of the mansion and threw him on the street until Jack staggered and fell down.

Jack was really very sad because the lover he loved so much had betrayed him and treated him like trash.

"Lily, how could you do this to me?" Jack muttered in shock.

"Lily!" Jack shouted in a sadness tone.
