Chapter 5

"Are you kidding me? How could I replace you?" Jack said with an expression that looked extremely confused.

Hugh smiled gently. "Why is it impossible? How many times do I have to say it? You're the only heir to this family business empire, so of course you're my successor, Jack."

After believing his status, Jack looked even more confused.

"But, Grandpa. I'm still a student."

"So what if you're still a student? You can still run the family company while you study at university."

Hugh paused for a moment, observing his grandson's expression. "And anyway, I heard you're majoring in business management. Isn't that a perfect fit?"

Jack never expected it. "I'm majoring in it with the hope that after graduation, I'll be able to develop my own business."

Hugh clapped for his grandson, "That's wonderful, Jack. That's a descendant of the Morland family."

Jack grimaced. "But aren't I a little young to be running the family business, Grandpa? The Morland Group is huge."

"You're capable, Jack. I am very confident," Hugh replied, still smiling confidently at Jack.

Jack felt he had no choice. He had just met one of his family members. He knew that his grandfather's health was not good.

How could he refuse?

"Alright, Grandpa. I'll run the company."

Hugh was extremely happy to hear that. He raised his glass and toasted Jack, "To my great grandson."

Jack, who had never touched alcohol, raised his glass of water.

"But, Grandpa. I don't want to make any news," Jack suddenly said to his grandfather after dinner was over.

"What kind of that?"

Jack sighed, "I want to keep my identity a secret first, Grandpa."

"Why is that?" Hugh was naturally astonished, "I mean even planning to throw a big party at your appointment."

Jack quickly said, "No, Grandpa. I wouldn't be comfortable with that."

"So? How? What do you want to do?" Hugh asked as he looked at the young boy.

"I want to start from scratch. Let me pretend to be one of the ordinary employees at one of the Morland Group's subsidiaries."

Hugh glared in surprise. "What do you mean, you're joking, right, Jack?"

"No, Gramps. I ... just want to know and learn about our companies but don't worry, I'll still run the company, Grandpa."

Jack then clarified his plan to his grandfather and Hugh accepted it without protesting. "Alright, if that's what you want. But, Jack. You must maintain your honour as the rightful heir to the Morland Group."

Hugh ordered Gideon to send some money into Jack's old account.

"Here it is. Use it as long as you carry out your mission."

Jack, who received the notification on his mobile phone, immediately opened his eyes in shock when he saw the amount of money that entered his account. "One billion US dollars? Oh my, Grandpa. What's that much money for?"

"Whatever you want, Jack. Think of it as your pocket money for the month."

Jack still couldn't believe it. "Is this for real, Grandpa?"

One billion US dollars for a month?

Hugh knew his grandson was still having trouble accepting so he tried to explain, "It's nothing compared to the Morland family's total wealth, Jack. Use it however you like. You can buy whatever you want."

"If it's not enough, you can just tell Grandpa."

"It won't be less, Grandpa."

Hugh said softly, "Jack, I know that no amount of money can make up for or replace what you've been through. But, I hope from now on you can live as you please."

In other words, Hugh wanted to spoil Jack with all his wealth. Jack was not going to refuse.

After the closer conversation, Jack immediately returned to his bedroom and began to close his eyes on his luxurious and fragrant bed, unlike his stuffy college dorm room.

However, before he closed his eyes, the young man muttered, "If this is just a dream, don't let me wake up from this beautiful dream."

But, when he woke up the next morning, Jack was still in that super luxurious room. "Not a dream."

He let out a long sigh and hurried to clean up. Gideon himself had prepared Jack's old clothes according to the young master's request.

"Would you like me to prepare a car, Young Master?" Gideon asked while standing behind Jack who was buttoning up his shirt.

"Just call me a taxi."

At that, Gideon's eyes widened.

Jack repeated, "I don't want to be conspicuous, Gideon. A taxi won't attract much attention."

Not wanting to ask too many questions, Gideon complied with the young master's wishes and immediately ordered a taxi.

Hugh Morland himself had left early for overseas to take care of his business affairs before he completely retired from the business world and entrusted all his business to his grandson.

Jack simply grabbed a sandwich for breakfast and rushed out of the house.

"Young Master, if you have any difficulties, you can contact me," Gideon said before Jack got into the taxi.

Jack nodded his understanding.

The yellow car took Jack to the Rundall University dormitory building.

When he arrived in front of the building and got out of the taxi, he simultaneously saw a car passing not far from where he was standing.

Jack didn't care much at first but when he saw the luxury coloured car backing up to stop right beside him, the young man raised an eyebrow with a puzzled expression.

"Hey, loser. How come you're free already? Who set you free?"

Jack sighed when he recognized the voice and he turned his head towards Tobias Gray who had just got out of the car along with Lily Osborne who was snuggled in Tobias' arms.

Jack was really annoyed looking at her.

"Tell me, in what way are you free, Jack?" Now it was Lily who asked.

Jack turned his gaze towards his ex-girlfriend, "It doesn't matter how I got free."

Lily laughed mockingly. "Uh, didn't you borrow money from your friend who is as poor as you are?"

"Is that so? Are you in debt, Jack?" Tobias asked.

"Of course he is, darling. Where does he get his money if he's not begging or borrowing? Don't you know he's a lone wolf?"

Tobias knew of course, but he feigned ignorance to annoy Jack even more. "Alone? What do you mean, my dear?"

Jack held his breath, still trying to control his emotions.

"Well, he has no family, he was raised in an orphanage."

Gideon frowned, as if disgusted. "In an orphanage? That means his identity is unclear? Is that so?"

Lily shrugged and wore a lazy expression as she looked at Jack, who she thought was very dirty at the moment.

"Oh my, my dear Lily. In that case, why did you go out with him in the first place? What if he turns out to be the son of a murderer? Did you-"

"That's none of your business," Jack interrupted as he couldn't stand it anymore.

Tobias smiled mockingly, it felt so good to piss Jack off. "What do you mean it's none of my business? Of course it is. Have you forgotten that I'm a member of the college council?"

Jack raised one eyebrow, "What does my family identity have to do with the college council?"

Lily sighed irritably, "Jack, how can you be so stupid? Don't you also know that the job of the campus council is to ensure that all students are not in trouble?"

"I'm not in trouble, Lily." Jack defended himself.

Lily sneered, "Not in trouble? Are you sure? So, what did you just do yesterday at my house, Jack?"

Jack was about to open his mouth but Gideon interrupted him, "Oh, it's appropriate that you had the nerve to break into Lily's house. Apparently it's because you don't have a family with a clear identity. It makes sense now."

Jack was almost apoplectic.

Unclear identity? If only they knew who Jack really was, those two people would have remained silent and never dared to say such a thing.

Still filled with annoyance, Jack suddenly remembered something related to Tobias Gray. The young man suddenly smiled.

"Tobias Gray, isn't your father the owner of Gray Mall?" Jack asked with a look in his eyes that Tobias found strange.

"Why are you calling my family company?" Tobias looked at Jack with a sneering expression.

Jack was extremely happy to remember everything his grandfather had explained to him last night. According to his grandfather, most of the businessmen in Ocean Hill worked with the Morland Group, including Gray Mall.

In fact, Morland Group had a considerable stake in Gray Mall. Remembering that, Jack somehow felt that he wanted to teach a little lesson to the haughty Tobias Gray who had dared to tell him to kiss his feet the other day.

Lily sighed exasperatedly, "Why, you want to ask Toby for a discount voucher? Aren't you shameless, Jack?"
