"Life support?" Emma repeated, shaking her head in disbelief. "My brother's condition isn't that bad, is it?" she asked, tears welling up in her eyes.

The Doctor's face fell, and he hesitated before speaking. "I wish I could change what happened, but I can't. Unfortunately, that's what we have to do before we can get the vaccine," he said gently.

Emma's face crumpled, and she shook her head vehemently. "There has to be something, Doctor! Anything, please!" she begged, her voice cracking with desperation.

But her father spoke up from behind her, his voice firm. "Fine, I'll sign the papers," he said, his words like a death sentence.

Emma's legs gave out, and she knelt on the floor, her hands clasped over her mouth as she let out a loud, anguished scream. Tears streamed down her face, and her body shook with sobs.

The Doctor's expression was somber, and he nodded sympathetically.

"I'm so sorry, Emma. We'll do everything we can to save your brother," he said, his voice soft.
