Chapter one hundred and fifteen

Owen's frustration grew as he tried to reach out to people for a loan, but they all came up with one excuse or another. He glanced at the clock, his anxiety spiking as he realized he had only two hours left.

Suddenly, a thought struck him - he had sent Amayah a lot of money over time, so she must have some savings.

With a calculated calm, Owen got up and headed to Amayah's room. He knocked on the door, but there was no response. He knocked again, his patience wearing thin. When there was still no answer, he pushed the door open to find Amayah crying.

Owen's eyes narrowed, his distaste for the situation evident. He hated having to pretend to care for Amayah now, when all he really needed was her money. But he knew he had to play the part, or risk losing everything.

Owen sat beside Amayah, who turned away from him, and he gently touched her shoulder.

"Amayah, I'm sorry," he said, feigning sympathy. But Amayah remained silent, her tears falling onto the bed.
