Sandra exhaled deeply as they stepped out of the house, the tension of the confrontation with her family ebbing away.

“Thank you," she said to Marcus, a grateful smile on her lips. Marcus, noticing her relief, shrugged nonchalantly.

"What are friends for?" he asked. Sandra couldn't help but smile at his sincerity. She was happy Marcus was not mad at her for lying to her family he was her fiancé, she was not expecting to see Marcus that’s why she lied easily. They stopped at Marcus's bike, and he offered to give her a ride. She shook her head with a grin.
