Chapter 15

"Wow. These pictures are authentic." Zoey commented scanning through it on her laptop. "How did you get so close?"

Kara sighed dramatically. "Believe me, I don't know."

"These pictures alone can implicate them. It's enough evidence. I can tell all the guns they're carrying are unlicensed." Zoey figured looking seriously at the pictures.

Kara nodded. "It's sad we don't know who the main boss is. I overheard they were expecting a visitor."

Zoey looked at Kara. "Now that you brought it up, I saw Philip Stark rushing out of the club not long after the gunshot."

Kara's eyes lowered in thoughts. "He's definitely involved. I just hope I get a call from Renard."

"Julius being caught by the police, I know he won't rat his boss out. He'll definitely be scared too." Zoey stated the obvious.

Kara suddenly frowned, her eyes narrowed in thoughts. A coder, and a software engineer. It's no coincidence that they work together.

"I have a thought, Zoey. The reason why Renard was almost killed is that he kinda destroyed something...I don't know. I think they were both making something."

"You mean a weapon?" Zoey asked with furrowed brows.

Kara shrugged. "Can't say for sure. Software engineers don't make guns."

Zoey nodded. "Then there's probably more involved than we thought."

"Oh come on. Come on. I'm dead." Renard was typing fast to the number he was given. He had to send a message. He had to send a message, ASAP.

Rushing, and typing the message, his door flung open, and he turned around, then his eyes widened at the sight. "Te..te.Terry." He called out of fear.

"Gotcha," Terry said with a smirk, shot him twice with a silent gun, and sprinted away.

Choking, and moaning in pain, Renard fell to the ground, blood gushing out of where he was shot. He immediately pressed the send button. He then struggled and deleted it, and...

Kara felt a push.

"Kara! Earth to Kara!"

She blinked, looking at Zoey. "Wh..what happened?"

"You tell me. You just went blank. And..and you look pale"

She lowered her eyes remembering the vision. "Renard, Zoey. He could die."

Zoey furrowed her brows. "What do you mean?"

"Uh.." Kara breathed our heavily trying to remember where he was when he got shot, but there was nothing. There was no lead to tell exactly where he was hiding. The room he was in, but she could bet he was in a hotel.

There was no date and time. Nothing.

But one thing she knew was, if she was there that means she ended up finding out.

"Kara!" Zoey called again.

Kara looked at her.

"You blanked out again, and left me hanging." Zoey made known.

A message popped on Kara's phone, and she took it to see it was from an unknown number. She opened it, and her eyes widened.

"What's it, Kara? You look like someone who saw a ghost."

Kara's eyes were fixated on her phone, not on what was written, but on the realization that Renard could really be dead. The message was from him.

"Kara!" Zoey called again and snatched her phone from her hand wondering what was up with her friend.

Her eyes widened as she saw the message. "An invisible girl gave me your number, but I'm not sure we'll be able to meet since I now have to always look over my shoulder. Writing this, I believe it could also mean I no longer owe the invisible girl for saving my life. Leonard Vander, also known as Leopard is the boss that tried to kill me. I, and my workmate, Julius Ortiz were working on something. Something powerful. We were chosen because no one could suspect ordinary people like us. Or like I love to believe, it saved them money. Leopard was given a job to hire ordinary people like us to do a job that pays us more than the salary we get from PriceTech, but we got caught for using our company's equipment, and got fired..."

"...He helped us by giving us jobs as bricklayers, but in secret, we work for exactly what we were hired for. I made a mistake since I wasn't all that good at making weapons, and destroyed a million-dollar metal. It was more like a core that ensure the weapon works. It was a mistake. It was what I almost got killed for, and could definitely kill me, cause I feel I only escaped the inevitable. I don't know the real thing, but Leopard does, and the person...." Zoey read aloud. "The message stopped."

Kara looked at her and nodded. "Yeah. Because he's dead."
