Chapter 21

Ellie entered in with looks of nervousness around her features. She did something she knows was wrong, and is scared if she'll be able to avoid not getting caught.

Kara and Sofia looked up and saw her entering with lowered head.

"Ellie!" Kara called.

Ellie's eyes flashed, her heart pounding, and she looked at Kara, and Sofia as they stay seated on the long couch. "Uh, yes."

"Where have you been?" Kara asked.

"At a friend's." She gushed out "I told mommy I was going to meet a friend, so why care?"

Kara nodded in a kinda unsure way. Her attitude was way above the charts. "Okay. You can go."

"Of course." She said and immediately left upstairs.

Kara's eyes followed her as she went upstairs.

"What's wrong?" Sofia asked.

Kara looked at her. "There's something up with her. She's acting weird."

Sofia sighed. "You know Ellie. She can be like that."

Kara nodded, her head still trying to wrap up what she found wrong about Ellie. There was something different. Also that familiar attitude.

"So, what do you want to tell me?" Sofia asked.

"Uh, yeah. I saw Ace today."

Sofia's eyes widened. "No way!"

Kara nodded. "Yeah. And he hasn't changed."

Sofia looked at her with a sad face. "You still love him, don't you?"

Kara's eyes drooped. "Don't know."

"The only way to get over him, Kara, is to get a rebound boy, or get someone you can fall in love with."

Kara looked at her. "Cause that's easy."

"Don't wallow in work, and school Kara. Create time for your love life. It's advice."

"What are we going to do with her, Ava? No sooner, they'll find out who she is."

Ava nodded. "You're right, Ken. We have to bring her close now. We have to train her for what's coming."

"How am I going to persuade her? How am I going to make her understand? She's obviously still in the level of denial."

"Then bring out the parents' card, Ken. I'm sure if something is going on with her now, it'll make her want to know more about them."

Ken nodded, getting her point. "I'll do just that."

"So you checked the box at last. I never thought you would." Nora said looking at the picture Kara attacked her with.

"I just want to know why Philip Stark is in the background. And also this boy..." She said pointing at the picture in her hand and dropping it on Nora's lap. "I wanna know who he is."

Nora sighed and looked up at Kara as she stood impatiently. "They're part of your past, Kara."

"Then I want to know mom. I want to know what part they played in my past life."

Nora sighed again. "What exactly do you want to know?"

"Who was Philip Stark in my life?"

Nora looked at her. "Your father's friend."

Kara frowned. "My father's friend?"

Nora nodded. "Yeah. Back then when...when you guys were living in Singapore."

Kara's frown deepened. "Asia?"

Kara nodded. "Yeah. Asia. That was where everything happened, Kara. Just so you know, you weren't born there. You were born in the US, but your parents moved there, so after they died, and after you recovered, I moved you here to Kansas."

"So, you're saying Philip Stark equally stayed there?"

Nora shook her head. "Believe me, Kara. I don't really know much. Yes, I was a friend of your parents, but I didn't exactly stay anywhere near their zip code."

Kara nodded. "And the boy?"

Nora looked at the picture. "Yeah, I remember him. He was kinda your only friend, then. Always with you. You played together all the time. He's um,..." She paused and looked at Kara. "He's Hunter Stark. The only son, and child of Philip Stark."

"Wh...what?"

Nora smiled remembering things. "I remember you were always happy with him. You used to call him Neo. It was the name you gave to him."

Kara blinked, and then she was beginning to get flashes, and flashes of a little girl running and playing with a boy, but then it was interrupted.

"You know you can't cross me, Felix. You don't want to end like Anton and his grandpa."

The Felix nodded. "Sí..sí, Sir."

"Go back to tilling."

Felix nodded.

He looked at the scary big guy beside him. "Just give him a clean death."

The guy nodded and shot Felix in the back.

Felix yelped and fell to his knees..dead.

Kara blinked again, and then she lost her steps and fell on her butt. "Ow."

Nora's brows were furrowed on her. "Are you..are you okay?"

Kara nodded. "Uh, yeah. Just remembered something." She said and stood up.

"What did you remember?"

"Mainly flashes of me, and that boy." She took the pictures. "I gotta go." She said and left upstairs to her room leaving Nora in a confused state.

Getting to her room, Kara dropped the pictures on the vanity and collapsed on her bed. Another vision.

The guy she saw resembled the picture she saw of Bernard Greene. And the place looked like a house, and the dead guy was obviously heading towards a farm to till where she was sure he wasn't the only one working there.

The gunshot was loud, so they could have heard it.

It could mean the workers see they die, but nobody dares report it. Why?
