Chapter 24

Percillia frowned looking at her eggs. It was meant to hatch, but it hasn't. What's wrong?

She blinked beginning to fire a million worst scenarios in her head.

But then she shook her head. "It is impossible. They should know nothing can be done. There's no use. What is happening?"

She looked back at the eggs with looks of worry evident on her face.

What's happening?

"Thank you so much, Draco. You saved those dragons."

Draco looked at Trick and shook his head. "No, I didn't. I just postponed their hatching period until I find a way to do what you want."

Trick smiled. "You believe it's possible, right?"

Draco nodded. "With a lot of incantations, I should be able to reverse the curse Glenda made on her babies. The dragons will live, and work for you."

Trick nodded. "Good, 'cause I gotta go." Then he left Draco with the eggs.

Arriving at the gathering, he walked to sit in his seat after bowing to the king.

"Why so late, Trick?" Gordon asked.

"Just taking care of a business."

"From tomorrow henceforth, we'll send one of our Vraths to Kansas, and look for that girl carrying it." The king informed.

"How?" Gordon asked.

"With the help of a searcher, Gordon. It can detect the aura of it, and find whoever is inhabiting it." Brainold informed.

"Those Vraths don't have human shape, so how can they hide?" Trick asked.

"They can possess, Trick. They know what they're meant to do, and they'll go for it. Those mere humans and their technologies don't stand a chance against them. And there's no West to fight them." Brainold told him.

Every one of them nodded.

"Then let's get on with it. This will be fun." Gordon commented.

"Kara! Kara!"

Kara groaned in annoyance upon hearing her name from the person she was trying hard to avoid.

She huffed harshly and turned to look at her with a raised brow.

"You don't have to...you don't have to keep avoiding me like the plague, Kara," Layla said out of breath since she was running to meet Kara.

Kara rolled her eyes not affected by what she said. "What do you want, Layla?"

"We're friends, right?"

Kara shook her head with a frown on her face. "When?"

Layla furrowed her brows. "I don't...I don't get you."

Kara sighed. "Look, Layla. Yes, we've known each other for a pretty long time, but it doesn't make us close friends. I don't even know much about you, and what did we get? What you did to Zo..."

"I already apologized."

"That doesn't mean you can be trusted. You are the kind of person that stab people in the back. The kind of person that doesn't like to be bad on her own. You live to spoil people. To add them into your crew of drug addicts, but I'm sorry, we don't do crews." Kara said spelling the last four words for her.

Layla blinked feeling mortified, and guilty. "I was wrong, and I'm sorry. I can do anything just to make it up to you. Just...just don't...don't neglect me."

"Neg..neglect, what?...."

"Miss Rogers." She heard and turned to see professor Hall. "Come to my office." He said, and left.

Kara's brows furrowed at the call. Hmm.

"Kara.."

"We'll talk later, Layla. If I want us to." Kara said, and left.

She got to the office. "You sent for me."

Professor Hall nodded and stood up. "I did." He walked towards her.

"Why?" Kara asked in curiosity.

Professor Hall sighed wondering where to begin. "It's about who you are. Who you really are. Cara West."

Kara tilted her head a little bit in confusion. "What are you on about?"

"I'm saying I know you. Or rather who you were before you died."

Kara was taken aback by his statement. "How did you...how did you know..." She paused because for some reason the question was dumb. "Who are you?"

"Let me say, I'm an acquaintance of your parents. John, and Celeste West, and I have all the answers you need about them."

Kara frowned, looking at the guy. "Answers. What makes you think I want answers?"

"There's something going on with you, West. I know you can feel it.."

"I'm..I'm not West..."

"You can feel it, West. I don't know what you're exhibiting, but you know you're way above normal. You can see things no one can, am I right?"

Kara blinked still taken aback by his words.

"You need to be trained for what's coming. What your parents fought against because they're coming for you. What killed your parents are coming after you, West." He warned.

Kara shook her head in denial. "With all due respect, Sir. You're saying nonsense. You don't know what you're..."

"You know what I'm saying, West. The fire monster that killed your parents, and gave you that scar, you saw it, and it's real. Whatever killed your parents is real, West."

"Stop it!" Kara yelled having enough of it. She felt like a tornado of anger was spiraling through her system, and she needed to let it out. She was breathing fast in anger, her eyes glaring at Professor Hall. "You don't...you don't know what you're saying!"

"I know you know, West. It's time to come out. Your parents' death needed justice anyways. And their death didn't end with them. They'll come for you, and they're coming. You have to be ready."

Kara scowled face worsened, as she looked at her professor with eyes of confusion. "I.." She blinked and shook her head. "This is bullshit. I gotta go."

She gave him a last look like he was crazy, and walked out.

Professor Hall sighed. "Denial. Always the first stage. I've said what she needed to hear."
