In the afternoon, Oliver immediately went to Atlas Forge Holdings to investigate what had happened. Though his intuition pointed to Emerson King as the likely culprit behind the leaked proposal, he still needed to confirm his suspicions and hopefully reclaim his work.

Calm and collected, he arrived at the lobby and approached the front desk, where a young receptionist glanced up at him with a barely concealed look of disdain.

“Excuse me, I’m Oliver Roberts, and I’d like to see the president of Atlas Forge,” he said politely, offering her a slight nod.

The receptionist took in his casual, understated appearance and raised an eyebrow. “Have you made an appointment with Mr. Eastwood?”

“Not yet, but I have very important business with him. It concerns a work matter,” Oliver replied, his tone steady and respectful.

“Work?” The woman’s brow furrowed skeptically. “You expect me to believe you have ‘important work’ with Mr. Vance Eastwood?”

“Yes. Why?” Oliver maintained his calm.

In the midst of the tense atmosphere in the lobby of Atlas Forge Holdings, a tall figure entered the room, exuding authority with every step. Vance Eastwood, the president of Atlas Forge, had arrived, and his sharp gaze swept across the lobby, taking in the scene with a cool, practiced detachment."Waylon," he called out, his voice calm but commanding, "what seems to be the issue here?"Waylon quickly straightened up, but his disdain for Oliver remained clear as he gestured dismissively toward him."This... fraudster," he sneered, "is trying to claim he has urgent business with you, Mr. Eastwood. Something about a proposal that we supposedly 'stole' from him."Waylon scoffed, emphasizing the absurdity of Oliver's claim. "As if someone like him would have anything worthy enough to propose to Atlas Forge."Oliver kept his composure, his face unyielding despite Waylon's attempts to undermine him."I'm not a fraudster," he replied firmly. "I’m here because of a proposal I submitted, one t

His usual smugness was replaced by an edge of panic that barely concealed his rage. His face twisted into a snarl, and his eyes flashed with a fury that sent a shiver down Oliver’s spine.“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Roberts.”Vance growled, but his voice was taut with unspoken threats.“You think you can just waltz in he

Without hesitation, he slapped Oliver again, harder this time."Mock me one more time, and I’ll make sure it’s the last sound you ever make," Vance spat, leaning closer, his voice trembling with rage.Oliver turned his head back slowly, the red mark from the slap barely phasing his serene demeanor."If you’re done acting like a spoiled brat, let me warn you—stop touching me, or you’ll regret it."Vance laughed derisively, his voice echoing thro

The morning after the incident with Emerson, Oliver’s day started as usual, calm and routine. He was preparing to leave the house for work when his gaze fell on Elena’s shoes near the hallway.Something about them caught his eye—specifically, the broken heel of one of her shoes. He didn’t think much of it at first, but as he stepped closer, his brow furrowed slightly. Elena had always been meticulous about her appearance, so seeing her shoes in such a state—broken and abandoned—felt... different.Yet, it wasn’t his place to ask or probe further. Their marriage, though not one of love, had remained a civil arrangement, and he respected that.Oliver thought about doing something about it.Later that afternoon, after handling several meetings as the president of Hoshier Holdings, Oliver found himself heading to the nearby mall. The day had been quiet, and he needed to clear his head. Oliver began searching for her, checking the living room, the backyard, and even the library. But she was nowhere to be found.“Oliver, what are you looking for?”Oliver turned to see Mr. Hoshier, Elena’s father, standing in the doorway of the library.“Oh, Mr. Hoshier,” Oliver said, managing a polite smile. “I was looking for Elena.
