2023-04-11 23:20:42Unknowing to Griffin Wright, Emily seemed to have read the message alongside him and she chuckled. " 1000 dollars? Arrest on 1000 dollars? Who does that?" She mumbled before clearing her throat to attract Griffin's attention.
" You can pay your debt with that card and come home when you've gathered your thoughts. " She said and signaled to the men as they all turned to leave.
" Wait!" They were yet to take a step when Griffin stopped them and they turned their heads to look at him. " How do I get to you guys when I'm ready?" He asked.
" Call the number on the badge and someone will come pick you up wherever you are. " Emily replied and left.
Griffin watched them enter their car and they even bowed to him before leaving. A vast difference from how he was treated by Benedict and Charlotte.
" What do I do with this? Can I really trust this people? I've never seen a card like this before. Are they trying to scam me?" Griffin couldn't stop asking himself many questions. He was confused. Like, how could his father be Edward Devon?
It was just too good to be true!
" I've been doing well so far, why did they come now? Is it because they saw how Charlotte treated me? Or is it fate? I hate to believe in fate but can this be it? What if they are wrong? What if the person they want is another person? What will happen to me then?" Griffin was troubled.
He thought about it for a while but he was unable to make any valid decision. Everything seemed like a scam but then again, what did he have to lose? He simply had nothing to his name and his bank balance wasn't even up to 50 dollars.
" Whatever! I will just go to the bank and try my luck!" He told himself and walked toward his car. He entered his car and started the engine. He was going to try his luck by taking the card to the bank to see if it was real or not. The worst they could do to him there was arrest him or call him a fraud and he would find a way out.
" I'm going! Any one hearing my voice right now should wish me luck! Griffin Wright might never see the brightness of the outside world again after today because no one will bail me from the cell if I am to be locked up! Bye!" He mocked himself as he drove off.
Driving down to the bank seemed extremely fast to him as he had a lot on his mind. One side of him felt happy that he had a rich father while another side of him felt sad and angry that his father did not think about him or try to find him for the past 21 years if it was really true.
" Hmm... Can it?" He kept mumbling to himself.
He stopped in front of the bank and hesitated for a while before stepping down from his car. Thinking of doing it and doing it were two different things~ He already made up his mind to enter with the card before getting here but his heart seemed to waver the moment he got to the bank and he felt tired of everything.
" Uhhhhhh! Mmmmmm!" Griffin put his hand on his chest to steady his breathing.
He thought about going back home but he remembered they said they would arrest him if he refused to pay up. " I should just enter and get it done. The worst they can do is beat me up. " He grumbled to himself as he stepped down from his car and did his shirt well before walking toward the bank.
The security in front of the bank allowed him entrance without much question. He walked toward the office of the woman that attended to him when he wanted to loan the money without wasting time.
" Good Evening, Miss. " He greeted and the lady raised her head from what she was busy with to look at who he was. She stared at her for a minute before she gave her a questioning look. " Who are you?" She asked and Griffin was taken aback.
He smiled awkwardly and cleared his throat " I'm Griffin Wright." He introduced and the lady nodded her head.
" Are you here to pay your debt?" She asked indifferently as she stretched her hands forward as if she wanted him to give her the money and get lost!
Griffin scratched the back of his neck and let out a deep breathe. He wasn't okay with the way the lady was treating him but he knew it was all because he was poor.
" Maybe life isn't cruel after all but the people in it are the cruel one."
In the country, No... In this world, only the rich had the right to show their face anywhere no matter how ugly or deadly they look. A handsome poor would look ugly beside the ugliest rich man just because he was poor and Griffin knew this better than anyone else.
" Anyway! Let's just do this and get over with it!" He thought.
He dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out the card. It was a black with gold design card and he dropped it in the lady's hand. " Withdraw the 1000 dollars from there and return the card to me. " He said, no longer smiling.
The lady's eyes lit up for a seconds but her eyes soon darkened the moment she saw the card. She sized Griffin up from his head down to his toes and she rolled her eyes at how cheap his clothes were. " What's this?" She asked, making a disgusted face as she looked at the card as if it was the dirtiest thing in the world.
Griffin's eyes twitched " A card. " He replied simply but the lady threw the card at him and stood up!
" What do you think you are doing?! Are you pranking me?! Are you enjoying this?! Is it so funny to you?! What's the meaning of this fake card you brought to pay your debt?!" The lady yelled furiously and picked her phone to call the security without waiting for Griffin to explain himself.
The security got there in seconds and faced her " This man?" They asked.
" Yes! Get him out of here and get him arrested immediately! He's a fraud!" She claimed as she pointed her finger at Griffin with furious look.
The securities seemed to be annoyed when they heard her explanation and they gave Griffin a deadly look~ " Did you really bring a fake card here?" They asked him coldly.
Griffin furrowed his brow. He never thought the matter could escalate this way. The lady seemed to hate her from the start but this was still to much on him.
He ran his fingers through his hair and let out a deep breathe " So? What if it's fake card, will you beat me up? Is that what you do here? This lady here acted rudely to me and treated me like I'm not a human and you..." He was still talking when a man entered the room~ He looked around the room and his eyes landed on the clerk.
" What's with the fake card you guys are talking about? Where is it?" The man asked and the lady walked forward.
She picked the card from the ground with disgust on her face and took it to the man~ " this is it, sir. " she said but the next reaction from the man shocked her and she couldn't believe it!
The man snatched the card from her and checked it very well. He gasped and rushed toward Griffin~ " Ah! Sir! Rich Sir!" He called as he bowed his head respectfully!
