212. The Date

"No matter the reason for your choice, you would have to lie to me…and that would be wrong."

"Okay."

As they talked, Ivy noticed the look of sadness in her husband's eyes and maybe guilt? "Is there something you want to tell me?" She asked him and he couldn't meet her gaze.

"Um…no." He replied without looking at her.

She took his much larger hands in hers and he finally turned to face her. "Are you sure?"

"Actually, if I'm being completely honest with you…there is."

"Okay?, I'm all ears."

"You see, the thing is–" His confession was interrupted by the spine-chilling sound of a gunshot.

The composure of everyone in the restaurant was disrupted and the crowd scattered in panic. Everyone ran about randomly, trying to get to safety and Lucas did the same.

No one knew where the shot came from and they didn't want to find out, they all just considered themselves lucky to be alive. Lucas concluded he was the luckiest, since the bullet only missed his head by no less than an inch.
