"No matter the reason for your choice, you would have to lie to me…and that would be wrong.""Okay."As they talked, Ivy noticed the look of sadness in her husband's eyes and maybe guilt? "Is there something you want to tell me?" She asked him and he couldn't meet her gaze."Um…no." He replied without looking at her.She took his much larger hands in hers and he finally turned to face her. "Are you sure?""Actually, if I'm being completely honest with you…there is.""Okay?, I'm all ears.""You see, the thing is–" His confession was interrupted by the spine-chilling sound of a gunshot. The composure of everyone in the restaurant was disrupted and the crowd scattered in panic. Everyone ran about randomly, trying to get to safety and Lucas did the same.No one knew where the shot came from and they didn't want to find out, they all just considered themselves lucky to be alive. Lucas concluded he was the luckiest, since the bullet only missed his head by no less than an inch.He grabbed h
"Thank you ma'am, we'll carry out the necessary investigation and we'll be sure to let you know whenever there's an update." Detective Jones said and the old Lady seated across him nodded slightly."Okay, thank you again detective." She said as he escorted her to the entrance. After she left, he went back to Lucas who looked very mournful. "So, what did you say the problem was?" He asked, looking concerned."It's Ivy, she has been missing for the past two days and I have no idea where I'm supposed to look for her. I've been calling her number since bur she isn't answering. Look, I understand that you're going through a lot at the moment and we still have the whole issue with Grover and all but, I'm really worried about her. Please, I need your help.""It's quite alright Mr Williams, you don't have to beg me. I'll help you. When did she leave home?" He picked up a little note pad and retrieved a pen from his shirt pocket."Two days ago, I think it was around after two in the afternoo
"Mother, I'm worried about Ivy." Peter said as he joined his mother on the sofa."Whatever for?""We haven't heard from her in almost a week. Don't you think something might be off?""They could be out of town Peter, don't worry about it too much.""If they were leaving town, don't you think Marco would have said something to us? He hasn't said anything and we haven't gone to see her since the day he took her. I'm getting worried.""Why?""You know how stubborn sis can be, she could be resisting… and you and I know that Marco is not a gentleman. What if… what if he hurt her?""He would never do that, he loves your sister.""Mother, you and I know that Marco doesnt love sis. He only wants to succeed in taking her away from Lucas. If she struggles with him and he–""That's enough Peter! Your sister is fine and I do not want to hear anymore about this issue. Have you forgotten the money we took? The money I gave you? Do you think that was just a gift? There's nothing we can do other tha
"What?" "Ivy, I know where she is." Peter repeated more firmly. "I can tell you where to find her.""Are you sure about this Peter? You know that this issue at hand is a very delicate one and this is definitely no time for your drama." Lucas inquired with a straight face."Yes, I'm sure." He saw that one officer was present along with one other man, he wasn't expecting this much people but… summoning his courage, he went on anyway. "Marco has her."Lucas shot up as he heard that name. "Marco?""Yes.""How did it happen?" The man asked, staring at Peter like he was trying to find out if he was lying or not. "Well, the thing is…" he paused for a second, trying to decide if he was making the right decision. If he exposed Marco, he would be implicating himself and his mother. But then again, he was worried about his sister. "If I tell you where to find her, you have to promise me one thing.""I'm afraid you're not in the place to be making any offers. But I will tell you this, if I lis
The cops tracked Marco and they finally found where he was keeping Ivy hostage. The room was wide and it was empty, except for a table that had all sorts of food and snacks on it, most of which had gone bad.Marco approached his half conscious hostage and as he reached into his pocket to retrieve an unidentified object, the officers apprehended him. One of the officers rushed to untie Ivy and she fell to the ground. He checked for a pulse and hurriedly dialed the ambulance number after confirming that she was still alive. The ambulance arrived in speed record time and Ivy was carried into it. All through the way, she was administered first aid to make sure her vitals were stable.Minutes after they arrived at the hospital, Lucas showed up with detective Jones by his side. "Where's my wife?" He demanded, his voice vibrating with urgency."Relax sir, who is your wife, what's her name?" A nurse questioned."Ivy, Ivy Mochi, she's here… I mean she was brought here… to this hospital, today
"Mr Williams, your mother in law is here to see you." Detective Jones announced as he knocked on the bedroom door. "Now, I know you're upset but please, let me handle this okay?""Alright fine, but if she says anything stupid, I might lose it.""Just calm down, that's why I am here. The fact that she's here means she wants to make some kind of proposal, so please… let me hear it.""Alright, alright I heard you.""Good." Both men went to the living room where Blanche was standing and when she laid eyes on Lucas, her face crinkled into a deep scowl."Mrs Mochi, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Lucas aid with a forced smile, as if he was unaware of the purpose of her visit."You know very well what brings me here, so don't you dare play games with me." She barked."Now let's just calm down, I believe we can have a normal conversation like civilised adults." Detective Jones interfered and she shot him a hard glare. "Mrs Mochi, please let us know what it is that you want. I'm sure you didn
He glanced at his watch and frowned. He was late. He picked up the pace, almost running in an attempt to beat time. He had promised his lady that he would be on time and now he was running late.He finally got to the main road and took his place at the bus stop. After waiting for almost two minutes– two extra wasted minutes of his time– a taxi arrived and after a brief negotiation, they were on their way.His phone rang out from his coat pocket and he already knew who would be calling. "I know, I know, this isn't what I planned either. I'm sorry.""You were supposed to be here ten minutes ago!" She complained over the phone."I am really, truly sorry honey. I'll be there in three minutes… five minutes top.""Get here in two minutes!""I'm in a taxi, I'll be there soon." After he hung up, he noticed the cab driver staring at him through the mirror. "Wife's troubles huh?""Yeah." He replied simply."I can relate. My Mrs is always stressing me out as well. But there's nothing we can do
"Your mother came over to our place yesterday." Lucas reported to Ivy as they walked together. She wasn't too roughed up from her time as Marco's hostage so she was okay to go home after a day under medical surveillance."What did she want?""She wanted me to release Peter.""Release? Where is he?""Oh right, peter was… arrested." Ivy stopped in her tracks and turned to face him."Arrested?""There's no easy way to say this but… your mother was responsible for what happened to you, and Peter was aware also." Lucas waited for her shocked expression or for her to voice out her disbelief but instead she resumed walking. "Ivy?""I Know." She said simply after a few seconds."You do?""Yeah. Marco told me.""Oh, okay. Well, Peter came clean and the cops had him detained until the investigation was complete.""Ah, I see. So what did mother say?""Uh you know, she was mean as usual. She didn't know Peter had confessed so she was causing a scene.""Typical. So what did you say?""I uh… told h
