28. Crossroad

Lucas sat on the bed that felt slightly bigger without his partner. It was already well passed three AM and he still couldn't get any sleep. To think that Ivy was laying in the hospital bed unable to eat to drink anything without help.

Blanche blamed him for what happened even though he didn't understand how any of it could be his fault. The doctor, who Lucas later found out his name was Faruk, told him Ivy was recovering well and her baby was still breathing as well. The only thing was left was for Ivy to regain function of her legs, and doctor Faruk said it could happen anytime.

It could take months, or years. He remembered how heartbroken Ivy looked when he told her, she tried to put on a brave face but Lucas could see right through it.

Mike had gone to see her as well to wish her speedy recovery. Lucas was glad to see her family and friends cheering her on, even Blanche tried to be on her best behavior around her.
