4. The Decision.

The cold in the room suddenly snapped at Lucas, his whole body shivering. He was happy, but at the same time, it was almost too much.

"You want me to reclaim the family's fortune, now?" He asked, his pale blue eyes staring brightly at his butler. Of course that would someday have to happen, if truly he was the son they'd all been searching for. Only, he wasn't ready yet. It wasn't really something he'd ever prepared himself for.

After all, no one had suddenly woken up to the realization that they might be the son of an insanely rich family!

Grover on the other hand, he begged to differ. "Sire, this household has been waiting for you for years now. It is time." In his voice came confidence and determination. He knew he could die anytime soon, in fact, he was ready to. Only, his promise had to come to fulfillment. And that would only happen if Lucas agreed to reclaim his family's fortune.

"Okay, if that's true then," the younger man said, leaning forward in the comfortable chair.

Whenever Lucas Williams was extremely happy, he felt weightless, almost like he was swimming in love. That life around him was suddenly so soft and friendly. He would feel like he was being embraced by the world.

"We both know the reason I'm still alive up till this moment." He said at last, after reconsidering the words in his mind.

Grover frowned. He understood what his young master was saying. Loud and clear in fact.

"They all think I'm dead. If I come out now, what do you think will happen to me in the next two to three years?" He asked, then didn't even wait for an answer. "I'll be good as dead!"

Such a horrible way to go. He wouldn't be there to watch his unborn child grow and live well. He would send his wife to the land of the widow.

May the heavens forbid it!

"Yes, yes. I understand, sire." The older man said immediately.

"So that is completely out of the list. I cannot, under any circumstances, announce my true identity to the public. At least not yet." In his mind, Lucas thought to himself; "Not even to Ivy,". He thought that, and he wasn't pleased.

But it was for his protection, and that of his family.

"Alright sire," Grover thought and finally reasoned with his young master. "We shall have it that way." That already clarified one part of their problem. But the look on Lucas's face emancipated there was another problem. "What is it, sire?"

The young master only smiled, just a half one though. He was thinking about his wife. His family.

"May I ask about the family's asset?" He asked, and Grover's brows arched up.

"You mean, the total asset?"

He nodded a reply. "Yes."

"The Williams's family has a fortune worth billions, sire, and if you need further proof, I shall have all of the documents sent to you by tomorrow."

He nodded again, satisfied with the reply. Although his heart did tingled a bit. An asset worth billions?

"If that is so, then I have a request to make." He announced, and the old butler gave his young master the necessary attention. "I need you to transfer a few amount of dollars—well, a few millions, that is—into a secret account. And I need a company set up in my name. There is work to do."

Without further ado, his butler replied. "Consider it done, sire."

Both men said their goodbyes and Lucas left. He ordered Grover to wait for further instructions.

Lucas was overjoyed as he returned back home.

He felt like if he was a droplet, he would be the wettest, most perfectly round droplet ever. A feeling that resembled one like he was atop a stadium with large feathery wings and just on the verge of leaping off toward the bright grass.

He was already in his street when the words of Grover came playing back in his mind. He was a billionaire!

He was overjoyed, thinking of all the good things that he could do now that he was rich. His wife deserved more than what she'd been getting from him, and it was finally time for him to repay her for her kindness. Then, there was the issue of his unborn child. Of course, Ivy hadn't known that he now knows about the child.

Life was funny. Just when he felt nothing could stop him from his immense joy, he was smart enough to know that life was filled with ups and downs. Yes, his return would not come so easy. There were still bad people out there: people who would not hesitate to end him and wipe out his family, making them exist no more. All because of his wealth. He would have to be more careful now that he had been discovered.

The best thing he would do was to tell his wife that he had found a new job. He would begin to run the firm in secrecy, and put to end all that had dubious plans over him and his family. Starting with his in-laws.

He couldn’t dare tell her who he really was. He has to hide his true identity from her for her safety for now.

The door to his apartment was slightly opened, and Lucas noticed his steps quickly increasing. He hurried and finally arrived at the entrance of his home. A voice was yelling, and he could even swear he heard muffled sobs.

Who was she talking to?

"Mother, you can not do that to me. Never!" Ivy's voice sounded from inside the living room, and one could hear the anger that tinged in her tone. Lucas wondered what his mother-in-law was up to now.

He wasn't one to grow afraid, but suddenly in that moment, he didn't like the tone of his wife. What could be up with her?

What was his mother-in-law planning now?
