It was a regular day on campus, all the students were in maths class.
As much as Kraig listened diligently, he was unable to stay focus.
He couldn't help but notice that Wynn was staring at him.
Since the incident at the parking lot the previous day, he had been trying his best to ignore her, but he knew that Wynn had many questions, especially about how he had suddenly come into wealth.
The classroom fell silent as the teacher left, and it was then that Wynn seized the opportunity to approach Kraig. She leaned in and softly asked, "Kraig, would you like to go for lunch with me?"
Kraig hesitated, his eyes avoiding Wynn's, and then replied, "I'm heading to the library, Wynn."
Wynn's expression turned somber as she pressed further, "Kraig, I know you've been avoiding me. Can you please tell me what happened to you? You used to be... well, nobody."
Kraig stumbled over his words, unable to provide a satisfactory answer, when suddenly, one of Juan's friends, Peter, swaggered over to them. His arrogance was palpable as he looked down at Kraig.
"You're screwed now, buddy," Peter sneered. "You'll definitely get expelled."
Confused and concerned, Kraig asked, "What are you talking about, Peter?"
Peter leaned in, his tone ominous, and whispered, "I know you can fight, and I know you're friends with some gangsters who come to beat up students. You'd better go find out for yourself. The Dean wants to see you."
Wynn tightened her grip on Kraig's hand, worry etched across her face. She pleaded with him, "Kraig, please be careful."
With a frown directed at Peter, Kraig nodded and made his way out of the classroom.
Kraig entered the Dean's office, a sense of unease looming in the air. He couldn't help but overhear Juan and his uncle, who were busy slandering him to the Dean even before he had a chance to speak.
Juan's uncle pointed at Kraig and remarked, "Doesn't he look like a gangster with that leather jacket?"
Kraig's eyes shifted to the Dean, who was frowning disapprovingly at him. The Dean wasted no time in addressing Kraig, his tone stern, "I didn't know you had joined the ranks of hoodlums bringing trouble to our campus."
Kraig immediately tried to defend himself, "No, Dean, it wasn't like that. Those weren't touts; they were my personal guards."
The Dean scoffed, clearly unconvinced, and reminded Kraig of his scholarship status. "You're here because you didn't have much, coming from an orphanage. How can someone like you afford personal guards?"
Kraig persisted, "But, Dean, Juan attacked me first. I had to protect myself."
The Dean, however, dismissed Kraig's explanation, insisting that he should have reported the incident rather than bringing outsiders to the school to confront students and security personnel. He shook his head and said, "Nothing you're saying justifies your actions, Kraig."
Juan then chimed in, "This isn't the first time Kraig has brought thugs to attack me, all because I got engaged to Jade, and he's bitter about it."
Kraig, now frustrated and tired of the accusations, retorted, "I couldn't care less about your engagement, Juan."
Despite Kraig's attempt to explain, the Dean was left with a difficult decision to make.
Considering Juan's family wealth, his uncle's influential position in the university, and their significant annual donations, the Dean made a harsh call.
"Kraig, you are hereby expelled from campus."
Shocked and desperate to plead his case, Kraig looked directly at the Dean, his voice filled with urgency. "Dean, please, you can't expel me. It's Juan who should be expelled for what he's done."
The Dean's expression remained stern as he responded firmly, "Kraig, I advise you not to cause any more issues. You need to leave the school premises quietly."
Kraig felt a sinking sensation in his chest, realizing that his pleas were falling on deaf ears.
It seemed that the Dean had made up his mind, and despite the injustice he felt, just because Juan's uncle make huge donations.
Kraig maintained his composure.
The previous day, he had informed his butler about the unfolding situation and had anticipated this very moment.
As he waited in the Dean's office, his phone buzzed with a text message from his butler,
'Im currently with the headmaster, Did anything happen yet?'
Kraig quickly trained swiftly and responded, 'Hurry I'm about to get expelled. Dean's office.'
A response soon appeared on his screen, "Got it!"
Kraig bided his time, and to everyone's astonishment, the headmaster stormed into the room, his face flushed with anger.
"What is this nonsense you are about to do dean?" The headmaster said in fury.
"I'm so sorry Kraig, please do not take what happened to heart."
Juan stood up in anger as he tapped his uncle to ask what was happening.
"What's going on here? He deserves to be expeled from what he did to Juan." David said.
The headmaster turned to David and said, "You will have to make Juan apologize or he will get expelled."
The tension in the headmaster's office escalated to new heights as the headmaster's request for Juan and Griffin to kneel before Kraig was met with defiance. Griffin, with a scowl etched across his face, spoke up firmly, "I won't kneel to any student, and if you insist on siding with Kraig, I will withdraw Juan from this school immediately, and I'll ensure that all our family's donations cease." The Dean, taken aback by Griffin's threat, hesitated for a moment. The prospect of losing the influential family's donations weighed heavily on his mind. With a reluctant nod, he turned to the dean and said, ", perhaps we should reconsider the situation. Maybe Kraig is indeed the one at fault here." The dean, eager to avoid further conflict, quickly apologized to Griffin, his voice shaking slightly as he did. "Mr. Griffin, I apologize for any misunderstanding. We value our longstanding relationship with your family." Griffin's expression softened, satisfied with the dean's submission. He le
After the tumultuous events had settled and everyone had left, the headmaster approached Kraig, a solemn look on his face. He cleared his throat and began, "Kraig, I owe you an apology. I should have handled this situation better, and I'm deeply sorry for the trouble you've endured." Kraig smiled as he said, " It's no problems Headmaster." He wasn't at all friendly with the headmaster, as he knew very well that the headmaster had only sided with him because of his grandfather. The headmaster further asked Kraig to seat and when he asked about Kraig's classes, Kraig only nodded and tells him they were great. But then, the headmaster was a bit reluctantly regarding the words that was hung on the tip of his tongue. When Kraig noticed this, he scoffed, "Is there something else headmaster?" Kraig was dying to leave immediately, he had no idea how to quickly leave the office. "Actually there is." The headmaster smiled at Kraig. "I had no idea you are the son of the DeVille." "App
"Why, Kraig?" Wynn asked, her voice tinged with worry. "Why do you want to stop being friends with me?"Kraig, burdened by the weight of his secret life and the challenges it posed, hesitated for a moment. He knew that Wynn deserved an explanation, but he also wanted to protect her from the complications he was facing. He decided to be brutally honest, hoping that it would discourage her from probing further."I don't want to have any friends," Kraig replied, his tone resolute.Wynn, however, was not one to be deterred easily. Her eyes softened with compassion, and she smiled warmly at Kraig. "Well, you accidentally became my friend, and that's how it's going to be."Kraig couldn't help but be touched by Wynn's unwavering determination to maintain their friendship. Seeing an opportunity to lighten the mood, Wynn suggested, "How about we have lunch at Kipps? My treat."Kraig was momentarily taken aback by the unexpected invitation. But then he accepted,"All right, Wynn," he said, hi
The cafe owner, a stern-looking middle-aged woman, had had enough. She made her way toward Kraig. She was of a big size and her head was bald The woman was displeased, her brows danced in fury as she approached Kraig. Her voice stirred up the restaurant as the cafe owner warned sternly, "If you three keep causing a nuisance in my business I won't hesitate to send you out."The other students in the cafe couldn't help but chuckle at the fact that both Kraig and Jade will end up being thrown out. They found the drama unfolding before them quite amusing. However, the cafe owner wasn't finished. She turned to address the other students, her tone firm and unwavering. "And that goes for all of you too. I won't tolerate disruptions in my cafe."One of the students, clearly displeased with her words stood up and said, "That's not fair!"Jade, still brimming with defiance, turned her attention back to the cafe owner. She spoke with arrogance in her voice, "You wouldn't dare send me out."On h
Kraig, took a deep breath. He quickly walked back into the cafe to rejoin Howie. He felt a rush of jealousy running through his spine. His chest clogged of jealousy so much that he couldn't breath. As he took a step closer, his eyes fixed on Wynn as her lips widened into a broad smile. Kraig's heart thumped and he hiccuped. He has never noticed the dimples on her cheeks but now, he could see them clearly. She was pretty. His eyes wavered towards Howie. The nurses turned to Kraig, startled by his sudden appearance. Madam Zury, who had been frail and quiet, looked up weakly, her eyes glimmered for a moment as she try to recognize the child standing in front of her. "Who are you?" one of the nurses asked, her tone defensive. Ignoring the question, Kraig approached Madam Zury, taking her frail hand in his. "It's me, Kraig. I've come to check on you." Madam Zury's eyes welled up with tears as she whispered, "Kraig, my dear." Kraig turned to the nurses with a stern expression. "This woman cared for me and countless others when we had no one else. She employed you, is this not enough reason to respect her?" The nurses exchanged glances and then looked at Kraig's casual attire—jeans and a plain sleeve. One of them couldn't resist a smirk. "Still struggling, are we?" she asked, her voice tinged with mockery. The other nurse chimed in, her laughter not far behind. "Yeah, and I wonder if he can even afford university." Kraig felt his f
Kraig carefully helped Madam Zury to her feet after the director's cruel slap. Her frail form trembled as she stood, her eyes still moist from the stinging pain on her cheek. Kraig's anger simmered beneath the surface, but for now, he focused on getting Madam Zury out of this place. As they made their way out of the room and into the garden, a sense of relief washed over them. The remaining children were gathered with Howie and Wynn, along with one of the more caring nurses who had always looked out for the kids.Madam Zury's gaze shifted to the children, and she paused in her steps. Her heart ached at the sight of the young faces, their eyes filled with confusion and concern. She turned to Kraig, her voice wavering with worry, "Kraig, my dear, I can't leave them behind. How will we survive, and where would we they go?"Kraig gazed at the children, realizing that there were about 14 of them, ranging in age from 6 to 10. He gently placed a hand on Madam Zury's shoulder and assured
Madam Zury, despite the concerns raised by Isabella about her health, wore a determined smile. Zury reassured her, "I appreciate your kindness, Isabella, but I'll be alright. No surgery for me. The most important thing right now is finding a better place for these children to live."Isabella's eyes filled with compassion as she asked, "Are there any other issues you're facing that we should know about?"Madam Zury sighed softly before sharing, "Well, you see, the new owner of this orphanage wants to change the building into something else. That's why we're in such a dire situation."Isabella's expression remained empathetic. "I see. You've been through a lot, Madam Zury, but I want to help. Let me speak with someone from our organization. We might be able to find a suitable place for the children to live, a place like the DeVille Hospitable."Madam Zury's eyes widened in surprise . "If you could do that, Isabella, it would mean the world to us. We desperately need a safe and secure p
